I can't get flash controls to work. If the video auto-plays, it starts just fine, if not, I'm out of luck. I've tried reinstalling flash through the software center. Even if it autoplays, I can't control volume or pause or anything. I'm at the mercy of whatever is already there.

I download the YUM rpm installer, and use yum localinstall to do it.

Terminal say: /home/wade/Download/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.

I have already tried installing it, and it says it worked fine, but I'm still unable to view flash.

Ubuntu :: Boxee Don't Install Flash For Flash Sake

Oct 3, 2010

I installed Boxee on my 64bit install. I had to edit the DEB so it did not install Flash, because Ubuntu still insists on installing the 32bit version which always borks Firefox.

But now I cant run synaptic without getting complaints of broken packages. I just want to blacklist boxee from from annoying the hell out of me, but keep it installed. How do I go about doing that?

Fedora :: Can't Get Flash To Work In F14 / What To Do?

Jan 3, 2011

I did a fresh install of Fedora 14 XFCE spin and it is working well. I tried to install Adobe Flash by following the directions listed below and though it says it was successfully installed any time I try to do something that requires Flash I get a message saying I need Adobe Flash version 10 or higher.

I downloaded adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm from Adobe's website and did the following:

Installation instructions for the YUM repository definition

1. Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2. Save the .rpm file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3. In terminal, navigate to the desktop and type # rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user).
4. Once the installation is complete, in terminal, type # yum install flash-plugin. Click Enter. (Note: This must be done as a root user).
5. To verify the plugin is installed in Mozilla, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.
6. To get the most up-to-date Flash Player in the future, simply type # yum update flash-plugin in terminal. You will not need to repeat steps 1-4.

I do have flash-plugin-10.1.102.65-release.i386.rpm

Should I do the above process with this file?

I also tried to verify the plugin was installed in Mozilla but there is no Adobe Flash listed in Tools->Add-ons->Plugins. Is that where it should be listed?

Fedora :: Getting OSS4.2 And Flash To Work On X86_64

Oct 23, 2009

I had quite a bit of trouble getting OSS4.2 and flash to have sound on x86_64 fedora 11. I had been using the Adobe repository which is 32bit. Adobe labs distributes a 64 bit version, and I notice now that Leigh has packaged it for fedora. Switching to the 64bit flash plugin brought back sound in flash for me. Just wanted anyone else wanting to try OSS4.2, to know how to get sound in flash.

I had Flash Player 10 installed initially, when it started having this problem, and then I installed 10.1 and it continued doing this.

Fedora X86/64bit :: Flash-plugin Does Not Seem To Work In F11 Or F13

Jun 29, 2010

I'm having the same issue when running F11 or F13 x86_64 and getting the flash-plugin installed just doesn't seem to work. aboutlugins in the browser does not show that the plugin has been installed.

I've followed the instructions at [URL] to no avail. This problem is common to both Firefix and Chrome.

The file referred to in this step (nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so) for google chrome does not exist on the filesystem, sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins-wrapped/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so /opt/google/chrome/plugins/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so

I've ignore the sticky thread for this as I believe that this version of the adobe 64 bit plugin is vulnerable to this issue, [URL]

I've also tries the gnash-plugin and still no flash in either browser.

Ubuntu :: Flash Drive Corrupt / Get It To Work?

Apr 18, 2010

I had important files on my flash drive that are not backed up anywhere. I went into the live USB creator, misclicked and trashed my drive.
Now when I plug it in, it doesn't have any files, but its formatting remains. I can right click and see the properties and it appears as though it says the same amount is used.
Currently I tryed using GParted to sort it out and upon selecting the device it starts searching for /dev/sdb partitions. It has been doing that for the last hour. Conky shows that 2 processes of dosfsck are running. Its a new drive and I dont know if it has an activity light.
