due to its philosophy, there is no mp3/dvd support shipped with Fedora.Anyhow, we're working here just for the very basic support.Some now may say "Oh thats bad, having to do that my self..".I say: "Using such a great OS, is worth that 10mins work to get sound and video."
View 5 RepliesAny time I want to view a video that uses flash (i.e ....., yahoo, ect...) the video will start to play for about 3-5 seconds with no sound. Then the video will pause and the sound will start to play for about 3-5 seconds WHILE the video is paused. Once the sound catches up to the video they both start to play synchronized. By the way I am using Fedora 11 32-bit. This happend on both the beta firefox that came with it originally and the 3.5 final. I am using the current adobe flash player. All this is from the repos with the system up to date.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have noticed an issue after upgrading to 11.4 with my sound. The sound works fine for the most part. The issue I have found is when playing a song in Amarok and then loading up a flash video, there is no sound on the flash video. If I pause amarok, then press play again on the flash video the sound will play in the video. Then if I go back to Amarok, the song won't play again until I close the firefox tab with the flash video. So naturally I figured it was an issue with my sound driver allowing multiple playback. However, I then went and loaded a video in VLC (an .avi) and the sound in vlc and amarok worked at the same time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed Kubuntu 10.04 and found out that there is no sound for flash in firefox. Also I here no sound when playing local video files (VLC, KMPlayer).
I checked kMix and everything is on. I tried to install pulseaudio, but I am not sure about it. Last time I saw it couldnt connect to some server or what... Although I can hear system sound and Amarok 2 plays mp3. I didnt mention that I tried to install libflashplugin and kubuntu restricted extras.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop, and I can't see flash in Firefox. I can hear flash, but not see it. I'm not sure when this started, because I haven't been using Firefox in a while. I've been using Chrome but now I want to use Firefox 4 beta (which also has the same flash problem as Firefox).

When I put my mouse where where the "play/pause" button should be I can click there and they work, but its all white. Flash in chrome works just fine, I use regular ubuntu repos. One weird thing is that ..... videos work perfectly when tagged/embedded in another site, such as facebook or a gmail chat, but on the ..... official site I can't see a thing.

I am having a problem getting sound to work in flash-videos in Kubuntu 10.10. My system currently has two working sound cards, the one integrated into my motherboard and the other is a USB Logitech headset. After installation, the speakers were set as my default output device which I did not want. I was able to move all the sounds over to the USB headset using phonon. While Amarok works, videos work (downloaded, wmv, avi, divx, etc) I cannot get flash video to work in Firefox. I set up my prefered device as the USB headset for everything in Phonon, but still the sound will only come out of my integrated soundcard (speakers). I'm not sure what exactly I am missing, I set everything up, but still it's a no go. What switch did I miss? I haven't used Kubuntu for a while, but i'm pretty sure this worked fine in Ubuntu 9.04 (when I last used it).

Another problem I'm having is that when I turn the volume past 60% using the sound applet on the panel, it gets very distorted. If I open sound preferences, I notice it is in the "amplified" zone at this point, so I have to keep it in the "unamplified" zone, but then it's not loud enough.

Originally, the embedded flash video played just fine on Ubuntu 9.10 by Adobe Reader 9.0. However, when the same video was replayed on an upgraded Ubuntu 10.10, the video part was fine fine while the audio couldn't be heard. Anyone encountered the same problem? Anyway to fix it?

I use HDMI for audio and video output and the audio works fine with amarok, banshee, kaffeine and system sound events, but in browsers like Firefox or Opera, the flash players don't emmit sound, only video.
I tried reinstalling flashplayer, alsa and pulse but nothing happen....
Previously i was working with Ubuntu 10.4 and everithing worked fine, but I prefer much more Suse.
I just freshly installed 10.04 and I found that the sound doesn't work with Firefox and with Skype2.1.0.81 (though I get perfect output in Amarok and I can record from the mic just fine using QARecord). I have an Intel ALC880 integrated card and neither issue was present in 9.10.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly fresh Slack install. When I start or shutdown X, the sounds that are supposed to play do. Also, sometimes everything else that is supposed to play sounds does.
However, sometimes the sound doesn't work for flash content or pidgin. I have never had a similar problem and I don't know where to start in resolving this issue.
I just came home from a long trip, with a lot of videos shot during the holiday. I wish to share them with the rest of the family and friends, but the files are huge (full HD). I intend to upload them to the family server, so ..... and the likes are not something I want.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi just reported a bug to launchpad (#511562. i'm not sure if this bug is in flashplugin-installer or pulseaudio.when i use firefox or chrome for watching a flash video from videos for example, all works good. i then transfer the sound to a remote sink using sound preferences > output > internal audio analog stereo on myuser@otherhost. after this is done, the flash video halts. this is also true if i restart firefox and start a new video, already having transferred the sound. sometimes you can see the video taking huge skips forward. for example, on a 3 minute music video, i see 3-4 different frames from different places in the video. the sound is ok though! 100% reproducible and if i transfer the sound back to local speakers the video resumes and plays perfectly.

a. the machine boots up
b. files are played in dragon player
c. the machine shuts down
my sound does not work when:
1. i try to play streaming flash videos online (e.g. videos videos show the image but no sound will play)
2. the same goes for vlc media player: images yes, sound no.
3. i use skype *edit: additional problem*
i made no changes, that i know of, to my machine before this started happening. one day everything was working fine and i turned off my machine to go to sleep. the next day, i turn on my machine, and surprise, the sound doesn't work in some instances.
I recently installed Fedora 12 on a new gigabyte mb and for unknown reasons to me videos from ..... and others run very fast (5X) or more, and I'm also unable to get audio to work. All this only happens if I'm using KDE, all work ok in GNOME.

So, I bought a Geforce 6200 hoping that would help, but I am still getting issues. Firstly, I cannot play full screen Flash. I know this has been asked before but all of the solutions I have tried have failed. Also, I would like to know if it is possible to play AVI files, as I d/l a few.
If I cannot get these two issues sorted it will be back to the dreaded Mic...... As I said, I am a complete novice here, I tried to enable desktop effects, and a message came up saying I only had 2D support, so I am guessing a driver problem? I have not installed any new drivers, but did try to get from nvidia, that I could not get to install - it was a .run file.
I have just followed the four point installation guide that I found on here, and now when the PC boots I have a slow moving blue bar across the the bottom of the screen with 'Fedora 12' next to it, and the graphics are now totally shot, looking like something from windows 3.1!
When I play a fullscreen flash video, it works fine the first time I open it, and then after that if I close it and open it again it appears, behind all my other windows, including firefox, gnome-panel, and glx-dock. This only happens under compiz - metacity is fine. This is all because I let my little brother play with compiz settings. I don't know if Linux is ready for the home user, but it certainly isn't ready for my brother.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 15 64-bit on my laptop, an HP HDX. I installed skype and got flash video to work (the former required that I install some 32 bit libraries, the latter required that I install an experimental 64-bit flash plugin from a tar ball). Now, they both work fine, but they don't work at the same time. In other words, I can have a video/audio chat, or just an audio chat, with someone on skype, but during that chat, I cannot view flash videos, nor can I watch a movie (and I verified that the problem is not just with totem) at the same time. If I'm watching a movie or listening to audio, skype will refuse to make a call.
Furthermore, when I have the sound settings open, and I'm using skype, in the applications tab of the sound settings I get "No application is currently playing or recording audio" which seems highly suspicious. I know this is a fixable problem because skype 64 + flash and/or movies works fine in the most recent iteration of 64bit ubuntu on my laptop, so it is just a matter of settings. I can't find much in the way of pulseaudio or alsa management apps in any of the repositories.

i've been experiencing an issue with audio playback for certain flash videos that stream from the web. most play smoothly, like the videos at videos. others have this strange background noise that is only present when there is audio (usually on news websites that host their own videos). when there is sound, there is a strange stuttering noise that disappears during the silent pauses.
here's a perfect example:
epidemic of tsa criminality: more agents caught stealing cash from luggage, another arrested for assault. the videos video at the top plays just fine. if you scroll down and watch the other video in the small box, you'll hear the stuttering. i have fedora 14 kde, adobe flash player 64 bit preview release 3 and rpm fusion codecs installed. the problem is also present in fedora 14 with gnome, same setup. the problematic videos play without the stuttering in ubuntu.
Installed Fedora 10 a few months ago. Was using pulseaudio and when viewing flash in firefox I was getting sound. I was experiencing too many problems with pulseaudio and other apps, so I uninstalled pulseaudio and now I'm using alsa exclusively. However, since doing so I no longer have sound when viewing flash in firefox. Sound when playing movies and/or listening to music is totally fine. I tried removing firefox and flash-plugin and installing them again but to no avail. I'm on FF 3.0.12 and flash-plugin 10.0.22.87-release.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just changed my sound profile in the sound preferences menu to Analog Surround 5.1 Output, and now since doing that, Flash player in Firefox has no sound and when I play Minecraft there is also no sound. Sound was working before I did this. I have tried reverting back to the previous settings, but that did not work. I tried rebooting, but no successes from that either. Also, when I test my speakers through sound preferences, they work. System sounds also work.
