There are about 120 users on linux centos server,most of them access their mails with pine, users are unable to open attachments of PDF, docs or JPEG with view attachments with pine. Can anyone let me know what configurations will make this work. I tried ssh -x username@xyz... error is kdf not found.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several lectures from a class that were distributed as .pps files. When I try to open them with Impress, the slide show immediately starts playing. When the end of the slide show is reached, Impress closes. So, I have no way of looking at these slide shows in the editing window (which is what I need to do). I have tried opening these presentations both from the command line, and by starting Impress then selecting File > Open.
Once the presentation starts, I can switch to the editing window, but essentially all buttons and menu items are "grayed out": [URL] I can't even save the presentation as a native OOffice type.
Is there any way to open a "b.docs file" with Fedora 9? I should have written "b.docx file" JR
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to 10.10 and installed ktorrent at the same time. After the upgrade whenever I try to open up and file or folder for that matter totem tries to open them. Totem is acting like the default app for all the files on my computer. I tried uninstalling an reinstalling both totem and ktorrent and I still have the same problem.

Also some pics in Firefox have inverted colors. I doubt they are related though. Im running 10.10 and have been for about 2 weeks. I am completely new to linux prior to downloading this.

I have googled this without success. I want to automatically find any lines in spreadsheet 1 which are not in spreadsheet 2 or vice versa.
I recently re-installed my OS to Ubuntu 9.10. I re-installed Zotero and downloaded the plug in for Open Office a Zotero.oxt file. When I try to get use the citation manager, it says that the version of the plugin that I am using (2.0a2) is incompatible with the Firefox extension 2.0rc.

Which is all good, but if and when i need to send a big email - i have to wait until file transfers over the network - which is pain. How can i configure pine and sendmail(?) to use local's machine ( centos 5.2) sendmail(?) to be able to give the file to sendmail and continue to work in pine while it's working on actual sending of the file.

I recently set up a "venerable"(Pentium 4, single-core, 2.4 GHz, 32-bit architecture) machine with Ubuntu Linux version 10.04 server-i386. My objective is to set up a "kiosk" directory on it which everyone(including guests) on my SOHO network can read from and write to.
I have designated the directory "kiosk"(no surprise there) and defined it in smb.conf. It is directly under the "home" directory, as path = /home/kiosk and set the file permissions as drwxrwxrwx or, if you prefer, like chmod 777. I have a separate machine, System Librarian running Ubuntu Linux 10.04 Desktop amd64 on the network(via Wi-Fi) and a second separate machine running Windows XP Pro, with SP3, also on the network this time via Fast EtherNet(100 Mbs).
From the Linux machine, I can read a complete file list, but I cannot "open" an RTF or an ODT doc in the kiosk directory. When I try to do so, OpenOffice.org simply "opens" a blank, untitled document. JPEG and PNG files in the kiosk directory open just fine. I cannot write to the kiosk directory from this machine, either.
From the Windows XP machine, by contrast, I can list files, open RTF and ODT docs(using Microsoft WordPad) and write file to it without any apparent problems. The file format on the server(Iguanodon) is ext4. Obviously, I have made some sort of mistake in setting this share up,

I work for a food manufacturing company in Sheffield and we have a machine called a duck injector which operates off a Human Machine Interface Touch Screen. The program inside this has been written and runs using Linux. This is stored on a Compact Flash Card.
This screen has been damaged and isn't made anymore so we've been sent a new screen which is a 12'1" Intel Atom N270 HMI.
I simply tried to put the Flash Card in the port and powered it up (booting from a removable source) and i get the following:
I've had absolutely zero experience with Linux so i'm completely stuck as to what to do to get it to work.
I've got a flash card with XP on it so i can boot up in that but then it won't read the flash card with the program on because it's in Linux (presumably?)
I've also tried downloading Mubuntu 10.10 and booted it up using that on a flashdrive - this allows me to read the flash card with the program but i can't get it to boot up/run.
I tried to log on to a remote computer using ssh, but I got an error:

View 2 Replies View Relatedi had some issue with the machine rebooting multiple times, What happens is that the machine boots up and suddenly crashes and then boots up cleanly. I was going through the log files during when this occurs. I came across /var/log/syslog which i guess logs messages before shutdown. It has following messages which i think are causing problem.

I am not able to open excel file which is generated from java web application in Linux. The file is opening in Windows but not in Linux. I am not using Open Office. I have two different applications deployed in two different was7 servers in same Linux machine. Both the applications generate excel output stream which I open in IE. When I am trying the same application in Windows environment both are working fine, but in Linux I can open and download xls files in one application but not in other. I am using application/vnd-ms... as mime type and POI jars to generated excel, no errors in my debug log or system errors.

I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?

Everyone can create new docs and edit / save them.
BUT - only the originator can edit / save.
Everyone else has read only access!
I tried creating a virtual server in apache and it got created successfully. (I also added a zone in dns for that domain successfully) However, when I try opening that domain in my browser, I see a popup window which asks me what to do with "default" which is a php file type.
I dont see the index.php which should actually open. What do I do to make the php files display correctly?
Evince in non-gnome systems is unable to open external link. The error msg it shows is
