CentOS 5 :: Su: Unable To Open Admin Password File: Permission Denied

Feb 25, 2011

when I try to su, with the right password I know it is because I have reset it with a sudo, it says su: incorrect password. Looking at /var/log/messages I see su: Unable to open admin password file: Permission denied. This must mean that the file has incorrect permissions and or owner/group. I am wondering if anyone knew where the file was located and the correct permissions/owner/group.

General :: Cannot Login To Server - Permission Denied (Public Key)

May 1, 2011

I am working currently on my server on an issue, I configured the SSH Deamon that only people who have a valid ssh-key can login on to the server, and kicked the password option. Now I've added a user account git. I navigate to his home folder created the folder ".ssh" and created in that folder the file "authorized_keys" I copied my public key in there. Now on my local machine I added that identity (via ssh-add) and I wanted to connect to my server. but when I'm trying to login myself I can't the only message I get is "Permission denied (publickey)."

General :: Login As Kevin - Permission Denied Error For XBMC

May 5, 2010

I have two computers. One runs unRaid NAS software which is built on Linux. The other is running XBMC media center which is built on Ubuntu. XBMC has a local folder (/home/kevin/.xbmc/userdata/Thumbnails/) that it stores thumbnails in. I am essentially trying to move this folder to my server, but XBMC needs to see it as local. I started by deleting the old Thumbnails folder and it's contents. I then created an empty Thumbnails folder on XBMC and I also created one on my unRaid comp (192.168.1.20/disk7/xbmc_thumbs/Thumbnails). On the XBMC comp I run:

Code:
chmod 777 Thumbnails
mount -t cifs //192.168.1.20/disk7/xbmc_thumbs/Thumbnails Thumbnails

It creates the mount and as long as I'm logged in as root, I can copy files to the XBMC Thumbnails folder and they appear on my unRaid server's Thumbnails folder. The problem is that if I log in as kevin (the user that XBMC runs as) I get permission denied errors. I've tried changing ownership of the XBMC Thumbnails folder to kevin via:

Code:
chown -v kevin Thumbnails

And it says it changed it, but if I check, the ownership and group both still show as root. I'm thinking that may be because now that the mount is made, it's showing the ownership of the Thumbnails folder on the unRaid server? Whatever it's doing I can't seem to change it and XBMC can't write it's thumbnails because of this.

CentOS 5 Server :: Vsftpd - Permission Denied On Login

Jun 2, 2009

Everything seems to be ok but if I try to login it says following:

I have tried with numerous clients and accounts but still nothing, I cant get past the login. What may be wrong?

Here is the log from account creation, could the last line be causing the problems?

I had some hassle with the last two iptables lines but once I took away RH-Firewall-1 from those lines iptables gave no error anymore.

I changed this: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT

To this: -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT

General :: Node Mounted From Appserver - Permission In NFS

Mar 2, 2010

I have a Node mounted from my Appserver (Solaris) to DBserver (Solaris), the reason why I Mount is that My Oracle writes file using UTIL_File in Dbserver only, so now I done the Mount and I can create file using VI in the Mounted point. But My UTIL_file is not able to create a file, the reason might be that Oracle writes only as ORA user and my Appserver has no such user, for that I have given the permission 777 for that particular folder, but no use, so I wonder do I need additional permission for this.

Slackware :: Error - Libusb Couldn't Open USB Device /dev/bus/usb/001/001: Permission Denied

Mar 24, 2011

Hello,

this error spams about 100 times, then the scanner does indeed work. So I'm not completely broken, but the error messages are of concern, and it slows down the process of scanning for the time it takes to do the messages.

Error in console:

libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/001: Permission denied. libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.

my sript runs:

scanimage

my groups:

uid=1000(fogie) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),7(lp),11(floppy),12(mail),15(man),17(audio),18(video),19(cdrom),20(games),21(sloca te),83(plugdev),84(power),86(netdev),93(scanner)

Even a simple:

in console gives this on a separate --current pc as well.

Ubuntu :: PHP Not Working - Warning: Unknown: Failed To Open Stream: Permission Denied

Mar 10, 2010

I just isntalled LAMP using tasksel and have a problem. Whenever I try to access a page (aside from phpmyadmin, that works well), I get this error... Code: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/var/www/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0

I have restarted the computer, restarted apache, etc and still nothing. When I first installed, phpmyadmin was inaccessible, so I ran some command in terminal which apparently created a symlink between phpmyadmin in the user/share dir to the /var/www dir, and curious if this is the problem. I have no clue how to remove this symlink if this is the case, and have phpmyadmin working now due to install using sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin.

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Open Mounted Shares On NAS "Permission Denied"

Mar 30, 2010

I have an Acer EasyStore NAS which I can access fine in Nautilus, but a server which I have been trying to mount via command line refuses to even let me view the contents of the folder. The mount command appears to work, a password is requested when connecting to the shared folder.

sudo mount -t cifs --verbose -o user=jason //nas/media /mnt/nas
mount.cifs kernel mount options: unc=//nasmedia,ver=1,rw,user=jason,ip=192.168.0.250,pas s=********

But I cannot even view the folder contents, as even a simple ls returns:

ls: cannot open directory /mnt/nas: Permission Denied

Even on my laptop which is able to access all the shared folders under Nautilus I am unable to mount shares from the command line.
