View 2 Replies View Relatedwhether Fedora / Gnome are planning on implementing a 2D version of Gnome 3? (i.e same GUI but without the bling). Like what Ubuntu did with Unity 2D. Unfortunately, my old laptop cannot run Gnome 3 due to the graphics specs and fallback mode doesn't work so I'm stuck with KDE.

Will it detect the second version automatically and add a grub entry? Or do I need to do something else. Also, what partitions need formatting, do any new one except '/' need creating?

I'm using Fedora 15 with Gnome 3 on a 32 bit laptop. I noticed that there seems to be a huge memory leak issue with Gnome shell. When I restart it, it is around 20 MB. But it keeps rising, and after around eight hours, I noticed it was around 250 MB! I found a solution online that said to simply restart the shell if the gnome-shell memory consumption becomes too large. While this is fine as a temporary solution, I am looking for a permanent one. Is there a way to minimize/prevent the memory leak other than waiting for the next version of Gnome 3?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using for over a year now, my 64-bit computer first with Fedora 8 and now with Fedora 10 with 2Gb of RAM just fine. Today I purchased an extra 2Gb for the system and upon installation from the GRUB screen Fedora 10 simply won't boot. It does boot with 3Gb, and it doesn't matter which stick I use for the 3Gb configuration, or what slot do I put the sticks into the motherboard, however if I place the four sticks, F10 simply won't boot. Should I pass a command line argument tot he kernel? If so, which?

I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I'm searching for an automated way of installing the latest version of Flash for Firefox. View 13 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 15, fresh install, today. Then I installed several Gnome Shell extensions along with Gnome Do through the package manager. I logged out, and tried logging back in. Received the Gnome Shell error message, "Fatal error" and was told to try again. Get taken back to login window.
I tried logging in as "root" so I could uninstall the packages I installed, but apparently you can't do that in Fedora. What's the best course of action?

I am new to linux and don't know much about it. I am currently taking a on-line class on it and seem to get stuck from time to time. I have been trying to install Konqueror on my systems. I have installed the KDEBASE3-3.5.10. However nothing shows up on my menus in GNOME. According to what I have read you can use this program on either of the GUI's. Not sure what details are needed, but below are some.
1) Quad core AMD Processor
2) Fedora 13
3) Kernel Linux 2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686
4) Using Gnome GUI.
I'm trying out Fedora 14 on an Asus EeePC 1000 netbook.I'd like to install just the basic Gnome interface, its helper applications and Gedit &cI don't want openoffice or evolution &c on this small net book. How would I go about choosing the appropriate packages at install time?If this is documented anywhere, just point me at the page!

I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?
