How to configure micromax mmx 310g usb modem in fedora 13? it comes with default installation files for windows and Mac.....moreover it is detected as a cd-rom when i am inserting it in fedora 13....
I have installed and setup 3G which works perfectly fine. I use sakis3g scripts for connecting to 3G network. My VPN profile created with network manager (client/NetworkManager GUI) works well.
Now when I do the same with using using ppp0 (which is after connecting to VPN) I get the following error messages. #cnetworkmanager --activate-connection=user,'XXXXX_vpn_singapore',ppp0,&
I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".
I am trying to connect my q75 micromax mobile with my computer as modem using wvdial. But I could not connect as modem. I insalled wvdial, gnome-ppp and mode switch through synaptic package manager.
This is the message I got from terminal window. After this, there is no connection. I closed the terminal window using ctrl+C command. My mobile is dual sim phone. I want to connect through one ISP provider for GPRS. How to set this in wvdial configuration file.

I use ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop, which I upgraded yesterday itself. After plugging in the usb modem, lsusb shows 1c9e:f000. its product if is 9605. As it should be switching to 9605, but it doesnt. It doesnt show up in Computer as usb modem disk. Moreover, it also doesnt create any ttyUSB file in /dev. Whereas when I plug in the terracom usb 3g modem, it gets detected, switched and works fine. Kindly suggest as I am trying to solve this problem since 4 days with all the methods posted all over the internet, but nothing seems to work...
Regarding the installation of a 3g modem and it also has a built-in slot which reads micro sd cards. the company micromax has not replied even after a week for my request for linux drivers so i think that the dont have them. I have a Multitech MT9234ZBA-USB modem. The CD included RHEL drivers which I have installed with RPM. The lsusb command output shows the modem: Bus 004 Device 005: ID 06e0:0319 Multi-Tech Systems, Inc.Which communications software should I use to connect to the modem and issue AT commands?
I have been using an ethernet ADSL Westell modem for years and would like to upgrade to a newish Allied Telesyn USB Modem AT-AR206 in Fedora Core 10. The modem power goes on when plugged into my pc and lsusb shows that it has been recognized with this:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 1110:9022 Analog Devices Canada, Ltd (Allied Telesyn) ADSL Loader
I used system-config-network but don't have the option of adding this new hardware.

I have bought a new USB modem from my service provider. The model they provided is "Huawei EC1260" Huawei Terminal. As usual the official support is for windows and mac.
I tried to install this device using two methods..
1) Set knetworkmanager settings to "traditional with ifup". Then in wireless setup there is a choice of having "usb" (A tick box). I selected that, and setup completed successfully but the knetworkmanager was not up(I did ifdown wlan0 (wlan0 was the wireless config name), ifup wlan0 and the rcnetwork restart.)
2) Again knetworkmanager was set to "traditional method with ifup. This times while adding the connection I specifically selected the type "USB", then clicked to finish the configuration. The configuration finished without any errors but when I checked the Network Configuration screen no USB device was added there.
Are there any specific steps to configure a USB modem

I have a Zoom 2920 internal hardware modem that worked well with Suse 10.0. In Suse 11.3 the modem config. overview lists 2 modems for this one board; #1- AT Modem and #2- Venus Modem (v90, 56K Flex). With #1 "edit" brings up modem parameters and the modem device line is blank. With #2 the device line shows /dev/ttys4.
When the provider parameters are entered, for either #1 or #2, the modem overview continues to list them as not configured but a third line "modem 0" is configured with the provider information at /dev/ttys4. The modem will not function.

i have been able to get on line running other linux os using the terminal first i type sudo modprobe -r usbserial & enter followed by sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1199 product=0x120 & enter the last command is sudo dmesg|grep -i ttyusb. I have done this for years and it always has got me on line after the above i open kppp and select for modem /dev/ttyusb0 and click to verify kppp recognizes my sierra wireless usb modem and that is all i have ever had to do, plug in the usb modem type the three commands it comes back with confirmation the modem is attached to ttyusb0, ttyusb1 & ttyusb2 in kppp i click /dev/ttyusb0 and click quarry and get on line with suse11.1 it is not so the first command sudo modprobe -r usbserial comes back with a fatal error but the second and third command give me the same results saying i have attached the usbmodem to ttyusb0,1 & 2. but i cannot configure it in kppp.
i have tried researching on line but cannot find a similar thread. I believe the way i described above has worked on lindows 5.0, and it is how i do it with Mint which i can get on line with today. so i hope one of the wonderful millions of linux users will direct me as to what i am doing wrong. i am running amd 785 4 gb ram msi mainboard ms-7549 my modem is sierra wierless modem 595u (vendor=0x1199 product=0x120) connecting through Sprint pcs which requires no user name or password.
