Hardware :: How To Install Micromax Mmx310 3G Usb Modem For Internet
Feb 9, 2011
Regarding the installation of a 3g modem and it also has a built-in slot which reads micro sd cards. the company micromax has not replied even after a week for my request for linux drivers so i think that the dont have them. I have setup my network but i dont know if its working or not as i cannot connect to the internet via my usb device. i have done a dual boot of backtrack 4 final and windows xp sp2(bt4 installed after). my laptop is compaq presario v6307. i tried installing the windows drivers of the device in backtrack, they were installed and a icon was formed on my desktop in bt4 but when i connect the device the aplication tells "no device" i guess its not reading it right?
I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".
I am trying to connect my q75 micromax mobile with my computer as modem using wvdial. But I could not connect as modem. I insalled wvdial, gnome-ppp and mode switch through synaptic package manager.

I use ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop, which I upgraded yesterday itself. After plugging in the usb modem, lsusb shows 1c9e:f000. its product if is 9605. As it should be switching to 9605, but it doesnt. It doesnt show up in Computer as usb modem disk. Moreover, it also doesnt create any ttyUSB file in /dev. Whereas when I plug in the terracom usb 3g modem, it gets detected, switched and works fine. Kindly suggest as I am trying to solve this problem since 4 days with all the methods posted all over the internet, but nothing seems to work...

I recently installed Open SUSE 11.2. It's a pretty cool OS. Anyway,sadly enough, I cannot access my internet connection via my USB internet modem. Worst of all, Open SUSE cannot detect the USB modem device. I am currently new to Linux and I may be overlooking something. I also clearly figured that Linux online is better than Linux offline from what I read from blogs and numerous posts. So in essence, I cannot fully appreciate the true power of Open SUSE 11.2 offline. Would there be a way to install my USB modem device?
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 this morning and everything is working fine apart from one thing. I am unable to install my Speedtouch 330 modem on it and connect to the internet, I looked on the help pages and found this:
"Visit Ubuntu Packages Search and search for each of the following packages. Download them to a folder that is also visible from Ubuntu (or to a USB stick).
As I cannot access the internet I had to go back to windows, download them onto a memory stick, go back on to Ubuntu and install them. The first 12 worked fine and are now installed but number 13 and 14 wont allow me to update because "the dependency is un-satisfiable" does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I was also unable to get the USB ADSL Modem Manager too install either because of another error.
find and install modem driver for the Alcatel X200 USB modem?
I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.

I am new in Ubuntu Linux. I am using Acer Aspire 4740. And I have purchased HSDPA Mobidata as internet modem. But I cannot connect it. How can I connect it and use internet using this modem?
I was recently asked to get a 3G ZTE 633 modem (not in stores) to connect to the internet whenever it was plugged in. I had it successfully working on my Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon machine but it does not work on Fedora 10 which is where it is required to work. When the 3G modem is plugged in I use a Udev rule to run usb_modeswitch which changes it from being in usb storage mode to being in modem mode. This part works fine. I then run a second udev rule (on the modem device), this should run a script which connects to the internet. Unfortunately it falls over here. The script does run but it will not connect. However if I run the script manually from root it works fine. I guess that it is a permissions issue.
One thing to note is that there are three udev devices associated with the modem. They are ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2. I use ttyUSB2 to talk to the modem when connecting. Here are the files. If you require any more let me know:
The first udev rule: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="2000", SYSFS{idVendor}=="19d2", RUN+="/usr/bin/usb_modeswitch"
The second udev rule: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0031", SYSFS{idVendor}=="19d2", MODE="0666", RUN+="/outputs/run_internet"
