General :: Drivers As Only Those For MS Windows Are Provided?
Oct 16, 2010
The Skype audio test claims I have configured Skype correctly. But my new Creative Live!Cam Socialize (Which includes a mic) needs some drivers as only those for MS Windows are provided. Creative spec requires a Linux kernal 2.6 or later which I think I have.
I have a network consisting mostly of Windows Vista and 7 clients and an Ubuntu server. The server provides both the DHCP and NTP services through dhcp3-server and openntpd. In my dhcpd.conf, the subnet is declared as follows:
The clients don't seem to be using the NTP server though. When I capture the network traffic with Wireshark during the DHCP process, I also see no mention of the NTP option in the DHCP offer message. I am not quite sure if the clients would have to specifically request that option to receive it or if I have to make another configuration to offer the option.
when i assign ip manually to a machine it gets ping by server and it also itself pings server but when i chose to use client machine as dhcp , so that it can directly get assigned ip from server, it does not get ip, instead random ip is provided which is out of range specified at server side in /etc/dhcpd.conf file.
i recently install openoffice in fedora 12 and error occured the error is : the action could not be completed because the name org.freedesktop.packagekit was not provided by any .service files. what is link to download latest openoffice for my fedora 12,?my laptop model is asus k50in.
I saw in CentOs Documentation that the only Tomcat package available in CentOs 5 was Tomcat 5, I would like to know why CentOs 5 didn't support Tomcat 6. And what's more I would like to know whether last version of Tomcat (6.0.18) can be installed on CentOs 5, and if we can trust installation tutorial we can read on centOs How 2 page? And in addition, could you tell me why Tomcat 6 isn't provided in CentOs Yum repository ... Is there a no working reason?
I've had a little package of scripts for a while now and decided to use one that i had not used so far it's calledcheck md5 sum by Tony MattssonWell I used it and it says put name of file I put the name of the iso and for some reason the script turn my 4.06 Gb .iso to a 54k .isoI tried contacting the maker with th email provided but had no luck the email is no longer good or never existed. Please anyone who know's about this kind of thing help as the iso is super important and i need to try and recuperate it.s there anyway to reverse this? Here is a copy of the script.

First, my specs:Maverick RC (both servers)MANAGED-NOVLAN modeCC + SC + Walrus server: 1 TB bukkit hard drive (after problem started just to see if the problem was related to the LVM), 500 GB root, 6 GB RAM, 8 coreC: 500 GB HD, 24 GB RAM, 16 coreI have downloaded all images available in the "store" and they all work perfectly. If I download a UEC image from http://uec-images.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid/release/ or if I try to roll my own from an ISO image, it uploads just fine to the server, but when I start an instance it sticks in "pending" and fails to decrypt and cache.Walrus error on CC:

If I use static TCP configuration, (my Linux is Red Hat, but SuSE is quite similar) I define DNS's in file "/etc/resolv.conf" and Default GateWay in file
So, when I want to display those values, I just display the contents of the file. But, if my TCP configuration uses DHCP server ... I dont know the command to display those values. PD.- in straight : I need a command to display the DNS's in effect on a TCP/IP configuration that uses a DHCP server. Also, a command to display Default Gateway would be welcome.
I am trying to build a jar file using a ant script provided by a vendor and while running the script, I am getting the below connection time out error when it tries to download a jar file.
Code: C:ccuapi-java>ant run Buildfile: build.xml get_libs: [get] Getting: http://download.java.net/maven/2/args4j/args4j/2.0.12/args4j-2.0.12.jar [get] To: C:ccuapi-javaargs4j-2.0.12args4j-2.0.12.jar
I regularly compile something from a source repository that has a certain set of dependencies. Some of these dependencies are dev libraries that are provided via other libraries but are not considered installed packages in themselves, so I cannot test for some dependencies directly.
I am currently parsing an "apt-cache showpkg" output to check for some of these provided dependencies. This is somewhat kludge-y and messy, and I was looking for a more elegant solution.
Is there an APTITUDE option that will directly test for the presence of a library that is part of some other package without having to know the name of the package that the library is part of?
I'm using Slackware 13. I have HP LaserJet P1005 printer. I want to use it but there is not any driver file provided for Linux. I'm confused from where to start.
I have two servers behind different networks. First network is protected with firewall provided by the router and there is no firewall in the server:
[Code]....
As you see, there are no difference in nmap output If I check with tcpdump, which packets are sent from 192.168.217.73 and 192.168.13.19(tcpdump -i eth0 src host 192.168.217.73 and tcpdump -i eth0 src host 192.168.13.19 respectively) towards me during nmap scan, there are none. It's understandable, as there should be no reply when port is filtered. Is there somehow possible to detect, whether firewall is active in the server or in the router?
Is this possible to record keyboard inputs in a file which will be provided during running a script.? Means suppose there is a script ./instal.sh To run this script, some inputs need to be provided. Is this possible to record these inputs in a file?
I'm working on a friend's computer, and I'm having many problems. During windows boot the usb keyboard and mouse will not function. The keyboard works in the bios and i put linux in, and the everything works fine.
I'm assuming the usb drivers may have been corrupted? So the only way i know how to solve the problem would be to use linux to install the drivers? Is this possible?
Originally the problem was the cd-dvd was not working so we replaced it.. now the usb's do not work.
I'm running ubuntu maverick on a 64bit system. In any browser, ..... or other flash video's fail to load (grey square appears) other apps are not clickable. also in other apps the flash plugin just plain sucks... liferea doesn't play video's for instance, not from any source (vimeo, .....,...) since last week it just started crashing my browsers, or even freeze up the whole system, until the correct browserwindow was closed... I'm using gnome and compiz on top. Is there an alternative for the flash plugin provided by adobe? are there known issues with particular gnome or compiz settings, or any other settings for that matter?
I am trying to install a vendor provided driver in Fedora 9 kernel 2.6.27.25-78.2.56.fc9.x86_64. Apparently the vendor stopped officially supporting Linux a number of years ago, so there were a few things I needed to change in the source code to get it to compile, now I'm trying to install it. Make runs successfully, but when I try to "make install" this happens:
Code: # make install Unloading any instances of foo module Loading new foo into running kernel insmod: error inserting 'foo.ko': -1 Operation not permitted make: *** [install] Error 1
I've tried finding a solution via Google but it seems that the majority of people solved this problem using sudo, but I'm using su already and this still happens. I've also gone into make menuconfig and modules are enabled. I have access to the makefile and all the source code, so if something needs to be done there I can do it. If anyone has any ideas, please don't leave out any details; I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Linux
I allocated a chunk of memory using kmalloc in a Device Driver. Kmalloc provides a pointer to the allocated memory. This is one of my first few drivers.
I assume that the address returned is a Virtual address. I need to find the physical address of the memory location. I am working on an Intel 64 bit Fedora machine. I used the virt_to_phys() routine present in <asm/io_64.h>. I found that this routine returns an unsigned long value (32 bit) instead of an unsigned long long value (64 bit). Moreover, it seems that it simply returns the address - OFFSET instead of extracting the value in the page tables.
So is there any function / system call in Linux which will allow me to see the actual physical address on the Intel 64 arch.
I need to download 'Windows Wireless Drivers' from the Ubuntu Software Centre but I cannot as I do not have an Ubuntu computer with an internet connection (hence the need for the application).
Would it be possible for someone to email it to me so I may put it onto a removable storage device and install it onto my Ubuntu computer?
If not; are there any alternative solutions (other than Madwifi).
I had to witch my wireless drivers in my computer in order to get a wireless connection for ubuntu, and now i cant get it for windows xp, is there any way i can fix this without constantly changing my drivers?
Is there any projects that provides compatibility wrappers to run windows sound/graphics drivers in Linux ,similar to the ndiswrapper or DriverLoader (see:- [url]) to run network drivers in linux ? It would be really nice if there is a linux port for win32prn project.
I have a new Toshiba A505-6980 laptop running Windows 7 with built-in Realtek wireless chipset (8172). I need to have Windows running currently for my job. My goal is to install Linux and then Windows 7 as a VM under Virtual Box.
In the meantime, I installed Wubi. I tried to install the wireless, but Windows Wireless Drivers wasn't installed. I tried downloading it through the built in Software Center, and it said "Not available in the current data". So I am going to manually install ndiswrapper and go from there. I already have the realtek windows inf and sys files.
My question is why is the Windows Wireless Drivers software not installed and also unavailable. Is it a Wubi thing? This is my first attempt at Wubi. My last laptop was running Linux Mint 7 as the only OS, and it had no problems installing Windows drivers.
I had windows and 8.10 earlier and now have single boot 10.04 !
1.) I can see wireless networks only after I am connected to the router through wired ! I guess its some thing to do with me activating ifup and ifdown, when my wired connection stopped working as i was trying to install wireless drivers.
2.) Even when I see wireless networks, i cannot connect to any of them.
I tried various things for a whole day trying to fix it and i doubt if i screwed up some thing that was running good.
Currently I have a single openldap server version 2.3.32 preforming authentication on our databases as well as e-mail and other assorted programs. When we get a high volume of users, sometimes the users can not be authenticated for new e-mail sessions and what not. We have traced it back to being that our current single ldap server can not authenticate them all in a timely manner. We decided that we would put up a new ldap server and replicate the changes to it, then upgrade the older server version and replicate back to it so that both would have a current up to date copy of our configuration, and we would do a master/slave type setup.
Trying to replicate between the old server and the new server is not currently working. Here is the issue: when we try to import the schema's from the older server we get this error: slapadd: dn="cn=Domain Users,ou=Groups,dc=mydomain,dc=com" (line=247): (65) no structural object class provided I can not seem to find any information on google that shows this exact error? if this isn't detailed enough let me know what else I should post.
I was wondering if Ubuntu supports webcams, I mean I want to buy a webcam (for example logitec or intex) but their specifications tells me that the drivers are only supported on Windows platform.
I have installed Xubuntu 9.10 on an old Celeron 500. I had a USB 2.0 card with a Via chipset fitted to the machine, but apparently the drivers on the accompanying mini CD will only work with Windows, so I will need to download suitable drivers.
