View 1 RepliesI can't modify/delete the files on my phones through my computer which is connected to my phone through a USB wire. I can view the files in there, but not edit them or make any modifications. During the time I used Ubuntu, it worked pretty well, any ideas why it doesn't work.I use Fedora 11 KDE in case you wanted to help me solve this problem. I also have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic if this is going to help too.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a liveusb running Fedora 11 on my hp laptop. I would like to use my T-Mobile Dash 3G unlimited data connection. I have seen many posts regarding wvdial, modem scripts, etc that are going a little over my head. I was able to connect my phone to the laptop, but when I tried to initiate internet sharing on the phone via Bluetooth PAN, nothing happened on the computer. I was connected but not able to do anything.
I saw some developer in a blog mention that he had put Bluetooth PAN support in Fedora 12. Is this not available in F11? Should I try moving to a F12 liveusb for this?
Has anybody had success getting a Tmobile 3G to work with F11?
I would rather use the USB connection so I could charge simulteously, but this looks a lot tricker.
I have connected my moblile Nokia 3110c using a data cable to usb to a ubuntu-pc.How can i kanow to which port it is connected and how to confirm this port is using wvdial or not?

I have an iphone, I am trying to get internet connectivity to that phone through wifi. I dont have a wifi router. But i do have a laptop with wifi card. I am connecting to internet via cable modem. In win7 I used to create an accesspoint and do the ics from ethernet card to share via wifi card. It used to work perfectly.
Now as I am sing ubuntu, i want to do the same. I have intalled firestarter, and shared the internet connection through wifi card(wlan0).After this I created an accesspoint using the gnome network applet. Now i can connect my ifone to ths accesspoint. But there is no internet connectivity in my fone.
I have a Samsung phone (S3310) and I'm trying use it as a modem to access the net on 10.04. I set up a Mobile broadband connection (under network connections) and I'm pretty sure the settings are correct because it works on a Nokia phone with the same service provider.
When I plug in my Data Cable and set it to Samsung PC Studio mode, my phone isn't detected as a modem. I just tried wvdialconf and it says "No modem detected". I'm guessing that maybe I'm missing some drivers here. what I can do get the phone detected as a modem.
I can pair my phone and laptop using bluetooth, from Network manager I can select my phone and make a connection. But then I can't access anything.I looked at the connection info from nm and tried to ping the given dns addresses. That failed. And I pinged those addresses when I reconnected with wireless and it failed. So, where are these setup? I didn't do it

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought this will be as simple as in Windows 7 (connectify+virtual router). But it's not. So far I've managed to install a driver for an usb wifi dongle and now Ubuntu sees it
Code:
$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 unassociated Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>"
[Code].....
Could it be that the wifi interface is down or something?
PS. when I left click on network manger, I see that under wireless networks it's written "disconnected".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just loaded up Fedora 13 and I like the new feature Fedora have which allows you to use your mobile as a internet modem over bluetooth. Is it possible to update my Network Manager in ubuntu 10.04 to this new version 0.8.997 through the package manager? Is there a PPA or something I could use?
Would just updating this add the bluetooth ability or would I have to update gnome-bluetooth package as well? Is it doable at all or should I just wait till the next Ubuntu comes out?
I've a Nokia 2323 Classic which I want to use to access to the internet on my laptop.
A friend of mine with a Dell Inspiron 15 running Windows 7 could connect to the net by just pairing up and right clicking on my phone's icon in the devices menu and selecting connect to internet via access point.
I've an eMachines E725 which lacks bluetooth. To overcome this I used a dongle which was able to successfully pair up with my phone via the bluetooth menu in preferences.
So what next ? How do I use the phone to connect to the internet directly via access point ?
I noticed that I did not need any operator related settings to do so in windows 7 and the phone worked regardless of SIM card present so I assume it should work similarly in linux.
What is left is to ask the system to treat it as an internet access device and use it that way.
How do I do it ? I don't mind a commandline way but a GUI would be better because I'm not the only person using my laptop.
I have been looking for a piece of software that can do the following; however, I am unsure what category of technology it would fall under. In addition, I am not sure if I am describing it correctly. I am looking for a piece of software that will allow a Bluetooth connection between my desktop, and cell phone. I then can place a Internet based call (SIP software, Skype, Google Talk) via the cell phone, which has been connected to the desktop system by Bluetooth.
I want to be able to receive and send calls via the cellphone, but use Internet for my calls. What got me thinking about this is a house phone I have by Panasonic, which has the capability to pair your cell phone via Bluetooth to the main base-station. This allows the option to answer calls to my house number, via my cell phone.
ever since maverick came out and I updated I can't connect to internet via my mobile phone. I used to connect via bluetooh establish a dun connection and then I could connect from network manager. Everything goes ok with the bluetooth the connection is made and then NetworkManager doesn't see anything...what can I do?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2.
It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3G data allowance.
I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone.
But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/Wireless & Networks, there is an option for Internet Pass-through, which is trying to connect but never does. Then it comes up with a message saying:
"Unable to connect to PC" and asks me to install HTC Sync software (which is Windows only).
Is there something I need to install in Ubuntu to get it to work?
