I have recently installed Ubuntu and have not been able to get my printer to work. It shows that the printer is online and the pages I try to print show they are processing but there is never any response from the printer.

Only to be informed that the CD autorun is not supported in files, I have the printer installed on the windows OS, without any problems, I have explored the CD and even tried setup but with no joy.Has any member encountered similar probs with installing software.

I find references to the printer all over the place, but when I try to print something nothing happens. I tried the print routine in 'gimp', 'gedit', 'thunderbird, and 'firefox'. The printer as a stand alone will copy and scan. About a year and a half ago it was connected to a Windows machine and worked.
does anyone know the repository that i can use. I can get openSUSE to recognize the printer it just doesn't print. I tried to use the drivers openSUSE says will work and none of them do.

I use Ubuntu 9.10 to download pics from the CF, but somehow it must have happened a mistake. The Card cant be used in my camera anymore. The camera only display 00F8 -P- and cant be used anymore. Anyone know how I can format the CompactFlash to its original state?The Camera is an Olympus Camedia c2500L, and I cant format the card because the camera reject it.

Plug in a USB camera
find /dev/camera-pseudonym
mount /dev/camera-pseudonym /camera
cp * ~/pictures
umount /dev/camera-pseudonym
and then work on adding this camera to /etc/fstab so that it will automatically mount to the usual place. I don't know how to find the pseudonym. I can, lsusb and see Bus 004 Device 009: ID 040a:05c1 Kodak Co. Digital Camera I can fdisk -l and not see any new partitions (which, with most USB devices with storage, I can usually see the partition listed in fdisk -l) After these two commands related to search FOR the pseudonym, I draw a blank and resort to manually searching /dev for things that may be useful.
This is difficult, though, because there are dozens of files named usb-something, and they're all very similar to one another, and not related to typical pseudonyms I'm used to (like /dev/usb[0-9], /dev/sd[a-z], etc) I would like to be able to find the /dev entry based on the ID 040a:05c1 because every USB devices I've tried has been listed by lsusb, and is accompanied by an ID number.How do I find the pseudonym in /dev for any usb device?
i'm using kubuntu and am stumped on getting it to recognise a kodak camera, which uses a program called easyshare, which i cant seem to install and linux drivers for it dont seem to be available, so what do i do now?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSince 2009 we are using Linux Redhat and all printers are working well. But when I have done Redhat's UPDATE I found all matrix printers (Epson LQ-590) not printing. Those printers are connected to the network by a printer server. When I do "lpr -Pprintername /etc/hosts" the printer prints the file but it not formats characters.
To print from my application, I create a file driver which looks like
"lpr -PP112" in /usr/spool/uv/t112.dvr
The first version was looked like

Now this old version works with the HP LaserJet printers. But on the matrix Epson printer it can't work I put lpr - Pprintername or lp
-onobanner -Dprintername to print something.
The problem steel in formatting text when I print on all matrix Epson printers.
I wanted some input on chronic problems with Ubuntu:
1. Why does wireless almost never work right on Ubuntu?
2. Why, when Ubuntu just decides to turn off my wireless card, can I not just turn it back on?

5. Why do my MP3 players and digital cameras not work with Ubuntu?
I spent 3 hours last night trying to unpack a tar.bz2 file so I can run my Ralink network card. It worked fine until my son unplugged my computer. Now my card is disconnected and it will not reconnect. When I check forums no one has a simple answer for something as simple as turning a network card back on. On my Apple, it's simple: click my wireless icon and hit "on." tell me an easy way to just turn my wireless card back on, it would renew my faith a little in Linux.
I'm thinking of buying one of the above as the HP 750 PCS I have hooked up to the wife's iMac is getting long in the tooth and is NOT well supported my Apple! It will either print or scan but not both without rebooting between tasks.One of the attractions of the Kodak is the cheap cost of ownership and they appear to be supported my Apple so that would be good! But what about Ubuntu support as a network printer?

View 6 Replies View Relatedubuntu and fairly inexperienced in getting things to work. I recently bought a Kodak s100 webcam. I can get a few frames on cheese, skype, or guvcview. After that, the video feed goes to black screen. I have tried a few things I found in the forum, but have not been able to find a fix yet. Does anyone have any idea why this isn't working? Also, the webcam has a built-in microphone which I'm having trouble getting programs to recognize, such as skype.

well I install the printer, everything works perfectly.....but, when I turn off the PC, and turn it on again, the printer does NOT work!, I send work for being printed but mothing happens , Ubuntu tells me that the job was printed but ... no case, my printer does not print it.
I have to install it again since cero. what can I don to stop install it every time I turn off the computer ?
I an an HP Pavillion laptop with SuSE 11.4. I had 11.3 working but I had to upgrade (install, not update due to other issues).
Now, when I go to YAST2 ->Hardware->printer->Print via network->Connection Wizard-> TCP Port and set the IP address and hit TEST CONNECTION I get an "OK". I select "Kodak" as the printer manufacturer and get these as my driver choices.
It uses port 9100 which looks open. I pick one driver and YAST creates the config. I then hit "Print test page" and nothing happens. This happens with either driver and a couple I downloaded from who knows where.
The printer is a Kodak ESP 5210 that runs with Windows 7 and Vista on the same network. Any ideas? Any tools I can use to sniff it out? I dropped the firewall to no avail, moved to the internal zone, no joy. It worked under 11.3 but I did not record the configuration steps or setup.
My printer is connected to another PC. If I run Windoze I can do a network connect, but with Linux, even though I've set up the samba connection I can't print. If I send a print job I can hear the printer "getting the info", but then it just hangs. Having to load the print job onto a thumb drive, shoving the drive into the host PC, etc. is not what a PC geek wants to do.

When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it. My printer is recognized proparly, but when i try to print a colored image, it comes out black/white. Something is not crrect. Does anyone recognize this problem with this type HP printer?

Of course I use the proper way (like sudo, etc.) The point is I can't print PDF files. Have a look at the image:

I have also modified to the cups-pdf.conf file and have directed it to /home/{USER}/PDF And yes the aforementioned folder (i.e. PDF) exists at its proper place.
So I think the main problem is "P2POutputStream" error which you can see in the image.
ok my printer is a "hp deskjet f4240 all in one" my OS is Ubuntu 8.04i have installed many hp drivers that say they work in ubuntu and work for that printer. but they wont work. my printer however is found. this problem only happend after i reinstalled ubuntu.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am networked to a Windows machine. I can see and open files across the network. I can see and add my HP 6000 printer (it is on the Windows machine). On my Ubuntu machine this printer has a check mark by "Enabled" and "shared" but I cannot set it as default (that option is ghosted) and when I try to print a test page it says "unable to connect to CIFS host" I downloaded the HP Linux setup program. That program cannot locate the networked printer at all.
