General :: Modify The "Configure Window Behavior" Settings

Sep 12, 2010

I am trying to modify the "Configure Window Behavior" settings so that a new KWrite window will have a default size and location that is not affected by anything I did to a previous KWrite window. I have found that "Force" does that; unfortunately, "Force" also locks the window in position, preventing me from moving or resizing it if I should want to. Is there any setting that forces a default window size and location but allows me to change it?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: How To Modify Kbluelock Settings

Feb 5, 2010

anybody know how to modify the kbluelock settings?I have kbluetooth 4 and in it there's the kdebluelock. When I turn off the visable mode on my phone it locks the computer. When I make it viseable again it unlocks the computer. However I think the time and distance settings should be changed. I think it takes about 30 seconds between scans before it finds the device and unlocks or unlocks the computer. I can also stand a good 10 meters away and it won't lock the computer; even between rooms sometimes.I'd like to change it so it scans faster and it'll lock if I'm more than one meter away. I know the bluetooth ranges are from 1, 10, and 100 meters; varying on the device class.

Ubuntu :: Compiz - Cannot Modify Cube Reflection And Deformation Settings

Oct 10, 2010

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my desktop and installed the AMD restricted drivers (Radeon HD 5770). I installed compizconfig-settings-manager and compiz-fusion-plugins-extra. All of the plugins have worked fine so far. However, while "Cube Reflection and Deformation" works, I cannot change the settings. Specifically, I tried changing the cube caps from the visually irritating logos to which it defaults to plain white, but the logos stayed. I also tried removing the annoying "Reflection" option, but to no avail.

I soon discovered that none of my settings would apply to the plugin, although they would display as though they were applied in the settings manager. Changing the settings in other plugins, like "Desktop Cube," works fine. So far, I am sticking just with the "Desktop Cube," "Rotate Cube," and "3D Windows" plugins, but I would really like that cylinder. And I have used Compiz, including the deformation plugin, for years with no difficulty.

Ubuntu :: Webcam Control Center To Modify Camera Settings?

Jan 27, 2011

I was just wondering if there are any applications that would serve as a webcam manager in Ubuntu. I am running 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell XPS M1530. Under Windows, I was able to modify camera settings (resolution, image, special effects) from a dedicated panel any time the camera was on. I don't need a lot of flashy features, but it would be nice if I could lower the resolution so that Skype runs more smoothly.

Fedora :: Network Time Protocol Part Of Date / Time Settings

Oct 3, 2009

I've got fedora 11 set up to use network time protocol to sync my laptop's date & time when I'm on-line. The question is simple really, I've added a local universality's time server (what is public) and it's live. but it's added to the end of the default time servers what come with fedora. How do I get fedora to just use the local time server, is it a case of removing the default time servers for fedora, but there is a box what says advanced options which are. sync system clock before starting service ???? & use Local time source (( is that the same as the local ntp server that I've got set up ))Hope some body can help me with the network time protocol part of Date/Time settings.

Ubuntu :: Basic Graphic Actions Taking Long Occurrence Time

Jul 8, 2010

It takes an exceptionally long time for basic graphic actions to occur like switching tabs in Firefox, redrawing windows that have been (un)maximized/minimized, and switching between windows. My video card is not a bad one, a GeForce 9500 GT and Windows handles it just fine. I'm using the current NVIDIA drivers 265.35. It seems like if I can't get some better response time I'll be using Windows much more.

Fedora :: 11 Changes Bios Time Settings?

Aug 19, 2009

I'm successfully dual booting and running Windows XP and Fedora 11 (with EVERY recent update installed), everything works fine EXCEPT that I cannot get both System times to synchronize.. Evey time I run Fedora I find the system time is always an hour different to Windows. Evert time I correct the system time in Fedora it affects my BIOS time settings. If I then go into Windows I first have to go into the BIOS and correct the BIOS time setting by one hour before I get the correct time in Windows........ Nothing is wrong with my Windows side of things, I know this because if I don't log into Fedora then my system times stay correct, only when I correct the settings in Fedora (which are always an hour out) do I get my BIOS changed. Also in Fedora, although I live in the UK (London) Fedora ALWAYS DEFAULTS TO Guernsey, no matter how many times I correct this to LONDON, Fedora always defaults back to Guernsey.... Has anyone else experienced this as I'm sure it's a Bug in Fedora, surely it shouldn't alter my BIOS settings, should it ??

Jul 13, 2011

Whether it is vi or gvim, you can view the current non-default settings by writing ":set" and pressing <ENTER>. However, in FC15, vim clears the settings screen really quickly, not allowing me enough time to catch it. Normally it should pause at the settings screen, and clear it only when I press any key. If others see the same problem, I will file a bug.

I love docky but i have a really annoying problem.

Every time I login to my account, all my previously settings on Docky are gone. I move Docky to right, add some docklets and change some setings like Panel mode, etc.

But when I shutdown my computer, next time I login I see Docky in it's default setting again!

note: In the current session when I `killall docky` and `docky` again, it works fine and reload my previous settings. The problem happens on Logout/Login.

I run Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell amd64 Laptop with 1.7x2 CPU and 2.3GB of RAM.
