View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can one bring 'Windows Mail' emails into Thunderbird ? Both are on the same computer (Dual Boot)
View 14 Replies View RelatedThanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
I've finally got all my accounts the way I like them in Thunderbird. I'm using IMAP and so don't have to move the emails, but how do I migrate my account settings to my other computers? The other machines are running WinXP.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?
Would anyone have a recommendation for a Thunderbird extension or add-on for importing e-mail from Live Mail? I have a dual installation of win7 & Ubuntu 10.04. Ultimately, I want to import my e-mail archive into Thunderbird on the Ubuntu partition. For the transition, I have both Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail on the win7 side. I'm running Thunderbird 3.0.6, though I could upgrade.

I am looking for a program to save accounts and settings of thunderbird to a flash drive. For I want to reload windows and ubuntu, due to slowness of opening up files. I found MozBackup utility works but it is for windows.
Is there something similar for ubuntu? Tried to find it in synapse under morzilla and thunderbird.
I have noticed that in Thunderbird, when following the path
Tools --> Import --> Import Everything
There are no options (arrived at a "dead end").

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Thunderbird 3.1.10 and no longer can see copies of my sent messages in the Sent Folder. I tried to tick the box in account settings to save a copy and it would not take the change. What I did notice is that the e-mails sent are being received on the other end, but I do not have a copy in the Sent folder. It seems as though my e-mail account has been hijacked, and I changed my e-mail account password as a precaution. I am also getting e-mail BACK in my in box that I sent to other people. My AT&T account uses yahoo and my account through AT&T was originally bellsouth.net What can I do to make sure I get a copy of all of my e-mail sent out?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my Thunderbird 3.1.8 (running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) to play a .wav file of my choice when new mail arrives. The file I've chosen is 8,8 KB in size and lasts 3 seconds. I've selected the "Play a sound" + "Use the following sound file" options in my Preferences, but only the first second (if that) of the sound gets played - both when I click the "Play" button in the Preferences menu to test it, as well as when receiving mail. Restarting the program with my new settings doesn't help.
Actual question(s):
- Is there a limit on the size/duration of the sound one can use for such a signal in this program?
- Is there any way to modify this limit?
I searched in forums but I couldnt solve my problem. I copy my pst files of outlook on windows then I completely remove windows and set up ubuntu. I made all my configuration on thunderbird. I can send and recieve mails but I could not import my old mails from outlook to thunderbird.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust installed Kubuntu 10.10, configuring it now. The problem is, that I would like to use KMail, but I've got to import the settings, mailbox etc. I made a backup through Evolution, wich ended up as a .tar.gz. I tried to open it though the KMail backup program. But it just won't load the mails or lettings. It just doesn't work. I tried Evolution 1.x backup end Evolution 2.x backup. Both didn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed the latest version of Ubuntu on one of my systems. I need to wipe it out and replace it with another OS for testing. After a week or so I'll reinstall Ubuntu.I've customized the looks and feel of Ubuntu desktop and have changed many other settings at a number of places. Is there a way so I can save my settings (like the desktop background, the screen saver settings, colors, terminal window settings including its fonts etc., and others) in a file or a set of files which can then be imported directly when I'd reinstall Ubuntu?

View 9 Replies View Related- Firefox 3.6.8 (64 bit)
- Get Mail extension (v3.3.4),
- Thunderbird (3.1.1)
Problem:
Clicking "Read Mail" does nothing, whereas clicking "Compose Message" opens Thunderbird as expected. Thunderbird is properly configured under "System Settings > Default Apps > Email Client".
Whereas, switching the default email client back to Kmail results in the Get Mail "read mail" and "compose message" functions properly opening Kmail in both instances.
This problem occurred for me before (when using openSUSE v11.1 and earlier versions of the apps), but I don't recall how I eventually solved it, or whether it was resolved via an update of one of the above apps/extensions. Nonetheless, I'm now confronted by the very same problem again.
My wife has decided to give linux a try. I've installed Mint Linux 10 for her.Last week (bad timing) I converted her to Thunderbird. Now I have the task of moving all her mail folders and account settings from Thunderbird under Windows 7 to Thunderbird under linux.Other postings say all I have to do is copy the Windows profile directory to her home directory and rename it .thunderbird.
Doesn't work. When I start Thunderbird all it displays is a window for new account details.I tried just copying the <gibberish>.default directory across and renaming it to the one that was there. Again, no luck. Before it started using sqlite things were simple!I backed up with MozBackup, and then noticed that it only works with Windows.
is there a way you can set up mail, so that it functions as thunderbird? for example, in thunderbird, you could create a hotmail email account, and add a new account to thunderbird with your hotmail username, password and if i recall well, smtp and server port. if that is not possible, what do i have to do be able to send emails from console in general? i ve seen some guides online which i think they are deprecated or something, cause the steps they suggest dont actually correspond to what you really have to do. what would be the simplest way to send email from console?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI store all my personal files inclduing mail folders on my external usb drive which allows me to experiment with different distros freely. On each new install i point the mail settings to my mozilla folder. But Slackware 13 is throwing a lot of challenges my way. I am currently finding that I cannot copy recently arrived mail into my designated folders. The message says something about I am running out of disk space when in fact I have plenty of space.
I initially thought it might have something to do with file permissions. But definitely not in this case. The folder is owned by myself and has full permissions chmod 775.I am currently using windows which gives access to all my mail folders.
I have installed ubuntu 10.10 on my system after the installation i was found that their is no thunderbird were installed so, i download thunderbird & install using command sudo apt-get install thunderbird after that i have change the mail folder path to the previous mail data to access the old mails but after taking that action.i can send the mail but i am not able to download the mail from my pop mail server.
