I searched in forums but I couldnt solve my problem. I copy my pst files of outlook on windows then I completely remove windows and set up ubuntu. I made all my configuration on thunderbird. I can send and recieve mails but I could not import my old mails from outlook to thunderbird.

I like to import mails from Evolution 2.28.3 into Mozilla Thunderbird 3.x. I guess I'll have to export them into mbox format. Correct ?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Evolution 2.28.3 on the latest Lucid. I tried importing an Outlook pst file. Evolution obviously leads one to believe it CAN do this, otherwise why would it allow one to choose a pst file, then recognize it as an Outlook file, and give one the option of choosing which portions to import (i.e. mail, contacts, calendar, etc)?
So the first time I chose mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks. It seems to have imported mail and calendar correctly, but NOTHING happened in tasks and contacts (contacts being very important). So I tried again, this time ONLY choosing to import contacts. It went through the whole pst file again. NO contacts still. While it seems not to have duplicated email messages the second go around (and it shouldn't have), it DID duplicate all calendar items (even though I ONLY checked "contacts"). UGH!
It's one thing for it not to have a capability, but to make a person believe it CAN import all those things, then screw it all up, ... well, that's highly irritating.
I set up my email accounts in Evolution and I would like to import all emails, contacts, calendar, etc. from my outlook archive into evolution. Is it possible and how to do it?

We are able to receive as well as send mails for the main domain users (i.e. example.com) but not able to receive virtual users mail (i.e. configured example2.com in main.cf and configured in virtual file as systems@example2.com useronly). View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody really know how to import Outlook 2007 email and address info into evolution? I will never get back the hours of my life I spent. I have read nooks and crannies in the forums, run script files, incorporated, Outlook express, Outlook 2003 and 2007, Thunderbird and at one point yelled at my monitor. I have exported and imported .csv files, tabbed delimited files, comma separated value files, and then in the end a post from a non-Ubuntu page told me I could just import the outlook.pst file. Some of the above methods work to some degree. Others just trash my contacts. I have only 350 records to import. None of the above methods will import the address field for Home, Office or Other. They are always blank. Might that be because I ran the Ubuntu One setup files before I imported my contacts?

I have tried several times and haven't seen any options to change. in the "wizard" it asks me where i want to put the files, but there is only one option.

the linux server acts as a Web Server,DHCP and Squid proxy server

I have a postfix mail server on ubuntu 10.04 lts behind a router. so all local users are fetching/sending mails through ms outlook using local IP. Sometimes when internet goes down and any mail send then it bounced back immediately saying domain not found. Can u please tell me how i configure to hold all mails in postfix server rather than bounce when internet fails and will pass through when restored the internet around 15-30 minutes?

I have the exact same settings on both Evolution and Thunderbird but only Thunderbird sees the mails (new/old), there are 139 messages.Evolution seen none. Nothing. I looked for IMAP-related problems concerning Evolution and one thread suggested something about Inbox-folder and it's location. View 6 Replies View RelatedI had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?
