Aug 26, 2010Thanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.

I installed Thunderbird via the opensuse "1 click install". the installation ran smoothly, but now a click on the Thunderbird icon does not activate any mail client; the only success is that Thunderbird icon jumps joyfully and then disappears.

Unfortunately the new version of korganizer does not show any entries in this file. I thought vcs is a valid import/export format.

I still have .odt files from OpenOffice in 11.3 around that contain SVG cliparts, so it used to work and SVG support is one of the feature highlights in LibreOffice.

I do have the menu to 'map to online account' when right clicking an account, but it is not enabled for some reason. The plugin (KMyMoney OFX) is in the plugins list under the configure menu, so I'm kind of stumped.

OpenSUSE :: 11.3 Fails To Correctly Import Pps / Ppt Files - Openoffice 3.2.1
Dec 27, 2010It would appear that novell openoffice 3.2.1.4 on opensuse 11.3 fails to correctly import pps/ppt files. Slide transition data is lost and this results in presentations without sound. This problem does not exist in openoffice from openoffice.org. openoffice from openoffice.org will play pps files with sound which will not play with openoffice from Novell. However the openoffice.org version requires JMF.
JMF is old and 32 bit. I have tested openoffice 3.2.1 from openoffice.org with JMF on a 32 bit 11.2 system and it works. I assume that JMF will not work with a 64 bit JRE. I also assume that it would be difficult to get a 32 bit jre to work with a 64 bit openoffice FMJ is an alternative to JMF. It plays various types of audio including mp3 and wav. It is packaged for installation on 11.3. Does anybody know if this works in place of JMF with openoffice from openoffice.org on a 64 bit system?

Jun 26, 2010I connect my iPod to the computer, open Amarok, and select the "Copy To -- Local Collection" option. I have over 2,000 songs on my iPod, but only 638 are imported. There is no rhyme or reason to which songs are imported and which are not.
Individually selecting the unimported songs and attempting to copy them is unsuccessful. I have followed the multimedia installation guide to the letter with success.

Oct 29, 2010I was using a basic web cam, these are the specs on it equipped with an SD Drive and in order to see the contents of the SD drive, I would just have to switch the camera to MSDC in order for openSUSE 11.4 to load the SD drive on the camera. Well, for whatever reason, it stopped working! Just want to know if I did something wrong. This is the spec of the camera from the USB app.

Mar 19, 2010So I have the burned ubuntu CD, and I'm attempting to install it on a system that has one HDD with XP/Vista on it, and another that is completely formatted and unpartitioned. However, when I boot to the ubuntu CD, I can use the menus from the bottom, and select the language when initially prompted, but I can't select any of the menu options except for boot from first hard drive.
