View 1 RepliesI have done some searches and none of them tell me how to recover or where/what the file name is for the Mozilla passwords. I was able to recover the bookmarks. orrupted my system doing the 9.4 to 9.10 upgrade and I am trying to rebuild the user one piece at a time.I also need to know how can i recover my mail from Thunderbird. Basically I have set up a new user and am trying to move stuff over from the old user one piece at at time until I can figure out how to fix the old user.

Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail. Here's the error in mail.log.

View 14 Replies View RelatedUsing Thunderbird 3.1.10 and no longer can see copies of my sent messages in the Sent Folder. I tried to tick the box in account settings to save a copy and it would not take the change. What I did notice is that the e-mails sent are being received on the other end, but I do not have a copy in the Sent folder. It seems as though my e-mail account has been hijacked, and I changed my e-mail account password as a precaution. I am also getting e-mail BACK in my in box that I sent to other people. My AT&T account uses yahoo and my account through AT&T was originally bellsouth.net What can I do to make sure I get a copy of all of my e-mail sent out?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my Thunderbird 3.1.8 (running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) to play a .wav file of my choice when new mail arrives. The file I've chosen is 8,8 KB in size and lasts 3 seconds. I've selected the "Play a sound" + "Use the following sound file" options in my Preferences, but only the first second (if that) of the sound gets played - both when I click the "Play" button in the Preferences menu to test it, as well as when receiving mail. Restarting the program with my new settings doesn't help.
Actual question(s):
- Is there a limit on the size/duration of the sound one can use for such a signal in this program?
- Is there any way to modify this limit?
How do I import Thunderbird settings and mail from windows xp installation
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had FF and TB running on a desktop computer which was on Suse 11.0. That computer has gone to the Great Interrupt in the Sky. The hard drive still works, and I can hook it up to the replacement (laptop) with an eSATA cable. Thus, all of my email, settings, bookmarks, etc are sitting there waiting to go back to work.
My new laptop is on Suse 11.2, with the FF version which came on the DVD (from Linux Pro Magazine in February). I would like to A), load the latest vers of FF and TB onto this laptop, and B), move my older FF and TB stuff to run here. I am little more than the ignorant appliance operator so derided by Linux gurus in the "Why New Users Give Up" thread. I want to learn more, but my primary need is PRODUCTIVITY, so what I need is an 1D10T-level stepthrough to get done what I need to do.
My address book recently got corrupted and I was unable to restore the e-mails, however looking at my abook.mab file I could see that all of the e-mail addresses were in there. I wrote a php script to create a new tab delimited text file, which you can import into Thunderbird. I used it to recover about 7300 contacts and it seems to work well for the most part. Just change 'abook.mab' to point to your actual corrupt abook.mab file or put it in the same directory as the script.

- Firefox 3.6.8 (64 bit)
- Get Mail extension (v3.3.4),
- Thunderbird (3.1.1)
Problem:
Clicking "Read Mail" does nothing, whereas clicking "Compose Message" opens Thunderbird as expected. Thunderbird is properly configured under "System Settings > Default Apps > Email Client".
Whereas, switching the default email client back to Kmail results in the Get Mail "read mail" and "compose message" functions properly opening Kmail in both instances.
This problem occurred for me before (when using openSUSE v11.1 and earlier versions of the apps), but I don't recall how I eventually solved it, or whether it was resolved via an update of one of the above apps/extensions. Nonetheless, I'm now confronted by the very same problem again.
is there a way you can set up mail, so that it functions as thunderbird? for example, in thunderbird, you could create a hotmail email account, and add a new account to thunderbird with your hotmail username, password and if i recall well, smtp and server port. if that is not possible, what do i have to do be able to send emails from console in general? i ve seen some guides online which i think they are deprecated or something, cause the steps they suggest dont actually correspond to what you really have to do. what would be the simplest way to send email from console?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI store all my personal files inclduing mail folders on my external usb drive which allows me to experiment with different distros freely. On each new install i point the mail settings to my mozilla folder. But Slackware 13 is throwing a lot of challenges my way. I am currently finding that I cannot copy recently arrived mail into my designated folders. The message says something about I am running out of disk space when in fact I have plenty of space.
I initially thought it might have something to do with file permissions. But definitely not in this case. The folder is owned by myself and has full permissions chmod 775.I am currently using windows which gives access to all my mail folders.
I have installed ubuntu 10.10 on my system after the installation i was found that their is no thunderbird were installed so, i download thunderbird & install using command sudo apt-get install thunderbird after that i have change the mail folder path to the previous mail data to access the old mails but after taking that action.i can send the mail but i am not able to download the mail from my pop mail server.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Mozilla Thunderbird email client. When I configure this program, it defaults to IMAP4-type incoming mail server (Port 143) instead of POP3 (Port 110) which my ISP uses. I did not see POP3 anywhere in the available dialog boxes. Is there any way to get Thunderbird to use POP3 in opensuse 11.2 Gnome Edition?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 5 mailboxes provided by my ISP, which I have been using since 2005 with IMAP.1 month ago my Thunderbird client under both 9.04 (desktop) and 9.10 (laptop) started refusing to delete any incoming mail in one of my mailboxes (but not in the other 4).
Error message: "(...) Mail server responded: System I/O Error" 1 week ago, same problem for another mailbox (but not for the other 3), again affecting both machines. Evolution does delete incoming mail on these 2 mailboxes, no issues at all. Have googled, found only one solution (imap folder corrupt), but nothing makes sense.
Ok, so I've done a clean install of 10.04 over 9.1 and despite a couple of issues am very impressed. The thing that's currently bugging me most is that I can't set the chat/mail/broadcast panel menu thing to use thunderbird for mail. Is there any way to do this, or do I need to have thunderbird as a separate icon?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince it has been announced that 11.10 will likely ship with thunderbird instead of evolution, I now am wondering how i am going to migrate my mail spool to the new application.

I set up a mail account in Tbird 3.1.8 - only to find it was incorrect (IMAP rather than POP).
I have set up the new account correctly, but there does not seem to be any way to delete the old account. I have renamed it to avoid confudion; but I really need to delete it.
I might have hit the "delete" button on my laptop, by mistake. But, since then, it's happened too many times to be an "accident", plus it's happened when the NX window is NOT in focus. From my Winblows laptop, I start a KDE session, using NX. Within that session, I start a copy of Thunderbird. Then, at random times, that I've not been able to correlate, the mail item "highlighted" will be deleted. This has happened in the Inbox, where the mail then appears in the Trash, and also once, when I left it in the Trash view, where items were deleted permanently. I've turned off the automatic "delete Trash at close", to safeguard my saved mail for the time being, as I think I lost some mail before I realised what was going on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 email accounts set up in Thunderbird - one is gmail and the other was given me by our server admins few years ago. Everything works fine on windows but when I try to send something from the second account (not gmail) in ubuntu it says that password is incorrect. Ive double checked all settings and seems like everything set correct. Now the most interesting part: when I set up this account as root (gksu thunderbird and then do same as I did under my account) everything works perfect.
I found only one thread at this forum with same issue and sure it's not solved [URL]..
Recently, or more specifically, yesterday, Thunderbird started telling me that the IMAP Yahoo server does not accept my password encryption. I checked in the settings, and it says it is "Normal Password". I then change it to "Encrypted Password" and then change it back after it reloads and tells me the encryption is wrong. After I change it back, it works fine for about 10 minutes, after which it tells me the encryption is wrong, even though its on "Normal Password". Mad, I delete the account and start a new one. The account manager then tells me that my password is wrong, writing something like
Quote:
Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?
Seeing as I tried to do this about 50 times, I doubt I typed my password in wrong 50 times. My other account, a Gmail one with IMAP as well, works just fine. Is the IMAP address of Yahoo different now?
PS: My firewall is off. I have also installed the WebMail and the Yahoo Webmail Thunderbird Extensions.
