is it possible to import mail from older evolution client (GNOME evolution 2.28.3) to the evolution now running on fedora 15 ( Evolution 3.0.2)on the older client, there appears to be a .evolution folder off home directory and mail under that.However I dont see this hidden directory on fedora 15.Is there a way to transfer the mails?

The problem is, that I would like to use KMail, but I've got to import the settings, mailbox etc. I made a backup through Evolution, wich ended up as a .tar.gz. I tried to open it though the KMail backup program. But it just won't load the mails or lettings. It just doesn't work. I tried Evolution 1.x backup end Evolution 2.x backup. Both didn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports?When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail.Here's the error in mail.log.

I (at last succesfully) upgraded my Debian from Lenny to SqueezeEvolution easily imported all the settings from before the dist upgradehowever, only the mail received since then is displayedwhen looking into the .evolution folder, and displyaing Inbox with ledd, I saw mails from last fall, however the evolution client only displays the last few (that I can also find with less in the file)

I go to System > Preferences > Sound, and all I get are themes preset. I do not have option to browse to wav files. I also do not see a browse option in Email Settings. Do I have to change an actual file?

I ticked the box 'leave on server'.Whilst in the mess of trying to configure two email accounts (using rules and folders), I deleted all my 1and1 emails locally. They remain on the server, but I want them now in my client inbox and Evolution seems to ignore those emails. Is there any way I can refresh evolution, so that it doesn't treat these emails any differently to new ones that I retrieve?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up Evolution Mail client by any means (toolbar, applet or command-line) it starts up, but then the window turns grey immediately and freezes. I am forced to close it with the "killall" command.
I love the small mailbox in my toolbar (GNOME) and I don't want to lose it. I am concerned that removing Evolution by the Ubuntu Software Center will eliminate this wonderful tool. Otherwise I would re-install it.
I have made no changes to the mail client in months. My wife who uses Thunderbird on Windows 7 is still operating normally, so I do not believe anything changed on the mail server.

Basically, I am receiving some emails that look lovely in Thunderbird but not in Evolution because the HTML rendering of Evolution isn't as advanced.Here is a screenshot of the difference: how to improve the HTML rendering of Evolution? e.g. a plugin, tip, code patch, etc. The closest I've got is to right-click the email, "Save As...", save as a html file, then open in Firefox. Not exactly streamline!What emails can't it display well? We use the subversion revision control system which is set up to send an email whenever someone commits via svnnotify all nicely coloured via the --handler HTML::ColorDiff -d parameter. When Evolution fails to use the colours, I find it very hard to read the raw diff.

I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I like to import mails from Evolution 2.28.3 into Mozilla Thunderbird 3.x. I guess I'll have to export them into mbox format. Correct ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to F11 (from F9) and most things work pretty well. I can't read DVDs or CDs but I see there is another thread open on that, and VMWare-player has a few problems but otherwise I an a reasonably happy camper. The "new mail notification" in Evolution won't play my sound. Other sound apps work OK (mplayer, amarok etc) and I can play the .wav file in question simply by hovering the mouse over it in Nautilus - so I know it's not a general sound problem (and besides - I have followed Silpheed2k's guide here). In the Evolution plugins dialogue the sound file is selected, but the test button doesn't play it and when new mail arrives the other notification methods (pop up message + blinking icon) work just fine. It worked in F9 with the same sound file.

I use Evolution mail and use 2 PCs When I send mail it saves it to my current PC but not to the other PC so instead i want it to save the sent to the email server i'm using.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?

My uni provides an ics feed url.
I know it's possible to import .ics files into evolution, but our timetables are updated daily so I would have to import a new .ics file everyday.
I'm running Evolution 2.28.3 on the latest Lucid. I tried importing an Outlook pst file. Evolution obviously leads one to believe it CAN do this, otherwise why would it allow one to choose a pst file, then recognize it as an Outlook file, and give one the option of choosing which portions to import (i.e. mail, contacts, calendar, etc)?
So the first time I chose mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks. It seems to have imported mail and calendar correctly, but NOTHING happened in tasks and contacts (contacts being very important). So I tried again, this time ONLY choosing to import contacts. It went through the whole pst file again. NO contacts still. While it seems not to have duplicated email messages the second go around (and it shouldn't have), it DID duplicate all calendar items (even though I ONLY checked "contacts"). UGH!
It's one thing for it not to have a capability, but to make a person believe it CAN import all those things, then screw it all up, ... well, that's highly irritating.

I have configured router(192.168.1.2) to serve only one machine with IP - '192.168.1.6' and set up SQUID proxy on '192.168.1.6'. I have defined some rules(ACL) regarding connections to internet on SQUID proxy.
I changed the Gateway of rest of machine (192.168.1.60 - 192.168.1.69) from '192.168.1.2' to '192.168.1.6'.
The policies which I defined in SQUID is working properly but 'Linux Evolution mail' client is not fetching mails.
Is I have to do any other settings on 'Linux System' or 'Evolution mail client'.
