Jun 12, 2010I have windows xp on my dell but I lost the drivers disk so I want to install linux Fedora 13 instead and wipe the windows xp. I burned the iso to a dvd and loaded up the live session user and used "Install to harddrive" but when I get to the partitioning window there is no harddrives to install to so I cant overwrite the windows drive (/C:)..

Jul 24, 2010I have installed fedora 13 recently and installed IDPS(snort) on it. But now I am not able to start service httpd. When I write service httpd start, it says OK, but I know it is a false message bcoz when I write service httpd stop it gives me Failed.
On writing service httpd status it gives a message:
httpd dead but subsys locked
I have tried "rm -f /var/lock/subsys/httpd" - no solution
yum update hasn't solved my problem as well.
I have to show my project running at my college. And I can not understand properly the technical instructions as I am new to linux.

Jul 5, 2010I just installed win 7 and now can't install fedira 13 on the partition that i made for it on the same drive. The problem is that after installation of win 7 i lost the ability to boot form cd. In bios i still have cd set up to boot first and drive second, but win 7 did something that overrides bios set up. I even tried Esc for boot menu, then i select to boot form cd, but it still boots in windows. What can I do to fix this?

Nov 18, 2010I am attempting to put some Virtual Machines on my Fedora13 box. Using KVM it just doesn't want to work quickly.... Using the v.14 LiveCD to try and install an image onto the virtual machine... took over 15 mins to get to a login screen, then I gave up attempting to log in after 5 mins from clicking the login button. I assigned the virtual box to have 1024Mb RAM and access to both CPU.
I then decided to sack it off and try and install VirtualBox... this has been a disaster. I know it's due to the fact that it wont run alongside KVM, and I've disabled KVM (as far as I am aware) - but it's still FAILING on using DKMS (Or whatever it's called - not got the error open at the mo). basically.. am I doing something wrong causing the system to run so ridiculously slowly, and how am I being thick for VirtualBox to fail to install?

I have a system set up as a DMZ which works great for accessing SSH and other various services. I have a dyndns account that points to my public IP and allows me to access my DMZ box from around the world. I would like to make a subdomain of my current dyndns account and point it to HostB so that it can host a webserver on it, and have another subdomain point to HostC with a separate webserver on it. each would have SSH, FTP, Etc and have to not conflict with one another behind one IP. I don't even know if it is possible, but it seems like if there is a request for dev.host.homelinux.com that packet would have to hit [URL]and could be iptable'd to be routed to the appropriate local machine somehow.

To my great surprise and delight, I can access toystory.movie.edu in a browser from another PC on the LAN (as long as I add 192.168.140.25 to the DNS servers). Encouraged by this victory, I decided to try to set up another subdomain at coupon.movie.edu. This kind of worked but not completely. Interestingly, I can get to both toystory.movie.edu and coupon.movie.edu on my server, but on my PC, I can only get to toystory.movie.edu, not coupon.movie.edu.

Mar 31, 2011I'm doing development on a site, let's call it mysite.com. mysite.com and www.mysite.com works fine, but proxy.mysite.com and dev.mysite.com point to the LAMP stack running on my computer. Pinging mysite.com gives me:

Subdomains of any other site work fine. I am absolutely baffled. What in the world could be causing this? I haven't been messing around in /etc/hosts or anything like that.

Aug 24, 2010I have ALFA awus036h wireless usb card which uses rtl8187 driver. after connecting it to my fedora13(64) machine and adjusting wicd preferences to enable wlan1 , i get the card connected to my wireless network, but actually cant browse any web site( the browser keep saying : looking up www.......), also PINGing return nothing. i tried handling the card using the built-in driver (kernel 2.6.33.6) and the driver shipped with the card, but both gave me the same result.

I used to use the wamp-server(on Windows 7), I needed to edit 3 files, httpd.conf, httpd-vhosts.conf and hosts. And almost every edit is made in the httpd-vhosts.conf file on wamp-serveriles should be edited? or what else should be done that I didn't mention?

Apr 11, 2011I am quite interested in one thing. I am trying to code my dns server that when I connect to one of my subdomains it connects not only to an ip address but to an ip : port address. For this I tried using SRV record, but with lack of success.
Dns server specification:
OS Ubuntu server 10.10 and using bind9
I have configured everything so that my subdomains work on an ip address, but I need some of them to work on ip : port too. In my brfconcept.lv.db file i used: (what I mentioned below isn't the full content of the file)

Feb 10, 2011I work as webdeveloper and I and my co-workers have one rule - if we are done with any project, we comment them with underline at the end of the directory name. For example we have domain 'devel.domain.com' and our projects are located on projectname.devel.domain.com' . Commented project looks like thisAnd here is the problem. I can not acces subdomains ended with underline. It works last time in 9.10 (i think), but since 10.04 gives me the browser only SERVER NOT FOUND. We are using this comment-method for 7 years without problems. Why is this problem in last two editions of Ubuntu?note: there is no problem with accessing ended projects under windows or osx.
