General :: Export Contacts And Email Back To Windows From Ubuntu
Oct 26, 2010
Taking all Contacts and Emails temporarily back to Windows for safety - whilst I install Mint in place of Ubuntu. Using Thunderbird. I have checked the help files and checked Google.
I'm using kupfer 2.06, which is a tremendous little piece of software. The hitch is that when I use the evolution plugin to compose a new message, I'm only provided one email address per contact. I'm wondering if there's a way to designate a default or primary email address for each contact or some other way to influence this behavior. Not sure if the key to the issue lies with kupfer, its evolution plugin, or evolution.
Is there any way to use "export" inside a bash script that will affect the variable in the parent process (i.e. the terminal where the script was run)?
I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm remote from the server. I'm setting up an Ubuntu server 10.04 x64. My intention is to load Oracle 11g, however I know I will need to be able to export an X display back to my desktop (Solaris) to run the Oracle installer. What do I need to load to get X working enough to export the display back to myself. I need to provide additional information. Since I'm new I may not have adequately covered what's needed.
How might I go about syncing my Windows Phone 7 phone with Ubuntu? All I really need is just the Music and Contacts would by no means hurt. This is my only MP3 Player at the moment and I had just had to switch to Ubuntu due to a long series of very frustrating issues with Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP x64
I usually use dvgrab to make an .avi file from the video on our mini dv camcorder and save it to my pocket drive.
Right now I edit this from the pocket drive in Windows 7 on my laptop with Sony's Vegas movie studio HD 9.0 I'm having issues with the laptop lately and with out bogging down in too many details I have to burn the edited video back to the mini DV tape and transfer speeds are causing me problems.
Is there a Linux video editing software that would let me export back to the camcorder? OpenShot doesn't seem to have that option and from what I remember of PiTiVi it doesn't either.
I've finally got all my accounts the way I like them in Thunderbird. I'm using IMAP and so don't have to move the emails, but how do I migrate my account settings to my other computers? The other machines are running WinXP.
My friend borrowed my laptop for a while and when he gave it back he said he replaced Windows 7 with Ubuntu. I asked him to switch it back simply because I prefer Windows. He claims not to know how. I don't want to go buy a new windows 7 disc I just want to figure out how to get rid of this Ubuntu and Windows 7.
I am new to the community and have just recently loaded Ubuntu 10.04. I think I made an error when I first launched Evolution, how can I get back into the wizard to add/correct the e-mail password?
I am setting up an FC7 box to replace a currently dying server and I'm having an issue with the mail setup. I am using sendmail and dovecot and system users for credentials. I won't include all of their configurations, because that would get long, but I can copy and paste any sections if they are needed.
The problem is all mail is being delivered to the root mailbox in /var/spool/mail/. I setup a laptop on a local network with the server to test things. And just brought up Evolution with one of my test accounts. I was able to authenticate and tried to send a test email to myself. The email went out fine but did not come back in.
I'm testing my mail server, and sending email works fine. However, when I tried to send emails to my server from gmail, I get this log:
Code: Aug 8 14:18:17 anbient postfix/smtpd[14228]: warning: database /etc/postfix/virtual.db is older than source file /etc/postfix/virtual Aug 8 14:18:17 anbient postfix/smtpd[14228]: connect from mail-qy0-f169.google.com[209.85.216.169] Aug 8 14:18:17 anbient postfix/smtpd[14228]: F3D4B1DD02C0: client=mail-qy0-f169.google.com[209.85.216.169] Aug 8 14:18:18 anbient postfix/cleanup[9988]: F3D4B1DD02C0: message-id=<4C5EBC96.2030800@gmail.com> Aug 8 14:18:18 anbient postfix/qmgr[9993]: F3D4B1DD02C0: from=<felipefidelix@gmail.com>, size=1982, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Aug 8 14:18:18 anbient postfix/smtp[9995]: connect to net[174.132.240.146]:25: Connection refused Aug 8 14:18:18 anbient postfix/smtp[9995]: F3D4B1DD02C0: to=<fidelix@net>, orig_to=<eu@felipefidelix.com>, relay=none, delay=0.15, delays=0.09/0/0.05/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to net[174.132.240.146]:25: Connection refused)
And this is strange. 174.132.240.146 seems to be the web address 'net.net'. I am sure this has to be some setting in postfix, cuz its trying to deliver the email to 'fidelix@net', and that cant be right.
Here is my postconf -n output: Code: root@anbient:/var/mail# postconf -n alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases append_dot_mydomain = no biff = no broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes config_directory = /etc/postfix home_mailbox = Maildir/ .....
(Linux Noob here) I just installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix (the latest one off the official site) and had it installed on my Acer Aspire one Netbook. My netbook had Windows 7 prior to installing UNR. I managed to get a partition for UNR and installed it from the USB and just went with the steps (never gave me an option to install alongside Windows, since I booted using the UNR image from the USB).
so got UNR working but the problem is that there seems to be no option to boot to Windows 7. My netbook boots straight to UNR. I know I have to edit the GRUB or something but I have no idea how to even do this. How do I setup UNR so that I get the option to boot with either UNR or Windows. I previously installed Jolicloud and it was simple enough that it gave me the option to boot to either Jcloud or Win 7. How do I do this with UNR?
I have windows 7 home premium currently installed and I have just recently installed Linux Mint and it has replaced my MBR with GRUB. Is there any way I can restore the normal Windows 7 Boot Loader and have the secondary option to boot my Linux Mint?
I installed Ubuntu, with a dual boot functionality and worked great. I was recommended Backtrack 4 and I installed it in the system. Now, I try to use the dual boot with Backtrack, Ubuntu and Windows 7 and only Backtrack works. I tried the restore disks that I created when I got the laptop, but the problem persists. s there a way to delete this Backtrack from the system and go back to Windows 7?
The full screen console is brought up by ctrl+alt+F1. How do you get back to the windows display manager? Is it necessary to reboot?I am running Ubuntu 9.10 with Gnome.
In my Windows environment, I use email client such as Microsoft Outlook to connect to our email server to send email with the following configuration:
Incoming server (POP3): 995 - (requires with SSL) Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 - (use encrypted connection SSL)
[code]....
And the mail server requires user ID login and password.how do I setup a text command based email client in my Linux (Centos 5.1) to send out email through the existing email server above, which is in another machine? The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.
Using CentOS. I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.
