Ubuntu :: Syncing Samsung Focus With (Windows Phone 7) For Music And Contacts
Dec 17, 2010
How might I go about syncing my Windows Phone 7 phone with Ubuntu? All I really need is just the Music and Contacts would by no means hurt. This is my only MP3 Player at the moment and I had just had to switch to Ubuntu due to a long series of very frustrating issues with Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP x64
I have just purchased a Samsung Nexsus S mobile phone. I am trying to download music onto it through my laptop using Ubuntu 11.04. I cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried the Nexsus S forums but they tell me to ask here as they are not converse with the Ubuntu software.
Kontact, Version 4.4.6 Open Suse 11.3 KDE 4.5.1 Hi I have got Kmail IMAP sync with Gmail just fine, but I am unable to sync my contacts. When I open my Kaddress book I don't see any listings.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but has anyone had any success in syncing and android phone to KDE PIM?I'm just looking for a new phone and was wondering if this would work. I'm mostly after being able to sync Kontact and the Calender.
I have a Samsung phone (S3310) and I'm trying use it as a modem to access the net on 10.04. I set up a Mobile broadband connection (under network connections) and I'm pretty sure the settings are correct because it works on a Nokia phone with the same service provider.
When I plug in my Data Cable and set it to Samsung PC Studio mode, my phone isn't detected as a modem. I just tried wvdialconf and it says "No modem detected". I'm guessing that maybe I'm missing some drivers here. what I can do get the phone detected as a modem.
I have a not very recent mobile phone. It's a Samsung SGH-X480. I like it thought. I have a software called "PIMS & File Manager" (Samsung EasyStudio II) which I use to kick with to x-fer .MID files and JPEG's to my phone. Now, I'm much hoping for a way to make it work with Ubuntu. I have Wine, settings are Ubuntu-default though. I ran the installer (20061016131758640_Pims_File_Manager.exe) which installed fine. However, when I try to run the program I get an instant crash (the usual '..may or may not be in regards of wine' message) before the application is even loaded. Not very fun. I also tried downloading packages 'wammu' and 'kmobiletools'. I picked 'ttyS0' for device (COM1) and tried with AT settings, different bauds, etc. Nothing. Which seems most likely, to get the Win32 software bundle working (by setting some Wine params for the better?) or finding the correct parameters for wammu/kmobiletools to successfully recognize my phone.
I'm guessing that when one purchases music that the file first goes to 'cloud storage' and then to sync with Rhythmbox? I would like to see that as an option. I personally would rather the file(s) be downloaded straight to my laptop. B'cause once I get my server up and running I would have the local storage space of my own to grab the files from, and redundancy with backed up partitions if some files would get messed up. I enjoy using Ubuntu OS. I don't use Windows anymore, or OS-X, so using iTunes isn't an option for me.
I wait for the day that I can trade up from this iPhone to an Android. I like the way that a pc would see an Android phone as a removeable drive so instead of syncing. I just prefer to drag/drop or copy/paste music files, rather than syncing.
this is shantanu and iam new to linux . iam using granular i make a dail up connection but internet never connects and iam using samsung s3500 phone as a modem to connect internet on granular .
Windows and Samsung PC studio Software I used to surf internet in my Laptop(Windows Xp) using Samsung PC studio software with the help of my Mobile Phone. When i am in Linux without Samsung PC studio Software.I am using Ubuntu 9.1 and trying to connect internet through Samsung Mobile Phone C6112.When i connect this mobile Phone to the Ubuntu through Cable wire, The Ubuntu recognized its a Samsung Usb Modem.I tried using Mobile BroadBand Connection Settings in Ubuntu.its not helping.Solutions which are useless
1.People says that Wine cannot be used to execute the Windows Version Samsung PC studio Software Because the Wine Cannot recognize the USB activities.
I need to enable my new E2120 samsung phone as a mass storage device. but I think I need a USB driver. Had a good look round the forums but can't seem to find any posts. Its quite a new phone but hopefully the solution is already about. When I plug it into the USB the phones screen has a hashed out 'mass storage' option.
I would like to download a few (591)images from the Galaxy S phone. Samsung have advised me that to do that I need to place the Galaxy S phone on Mass storage, whivch I can do and plug the phone USB cable to the PC and manually mount the USB. The Galaxy S firmware 2.1-update1 doesn't support automatic mounting! The Galaxy S has an Android platform Kernel version 2.6.29 with root @SE-S604 #2. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on a AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1700+ with 1G of ram. It's the manual mounting of the USB connection
I'm dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows 7, and I have all my music files on an external hard drive that I read from both OSes. When in Windows 7, I use iTunes as my music player. Does anyone know of a way to keep the ratings, primarily, and play counts as a bonus quest, synced between iTunes and a Linux music player, whether it's Rhythmbox, Banshee, Amarok, or some other player. This is the number one feature I'd like so I'll switch to using almost any music player if I can have this.
If there's a way to import ratings from iTunes that's a start, but that's more of a one time thing. I might be able to write a script that does this importing regularly but what I'd really like is a seamless way to keep the ratings between the two music players synced. I know I can use Amarok or Banshee on Windows and that might make what I'm trying to do easier, but for other reasons I need to keep using iTunes on Windows.
I would like to do is as the subject says, I want to take a music video and then sync several light channels to the music video.
I would like dimming control of the lights as you would have with a DMX 512 system or even Midi. In which the light programming is done in a choreographed sequencing pattern, much like many Midi "piano roll" based editing software.
In a nutshell I would like to do what the Windows program "Vixen" Christmas lighting control program does, but within Linux AND for videos. Sadly Vixen doesn't support syncing to video's at this time...only audio. Another thing is that Vixen also doesn't work with Wine, so it is a no go in Linux.
I would hope that by now there is some kind of video program that does permit syncing to external output devices.
I bought a Samsung P3 portable audio player I chose it because it had bluetooth support and also appeared to support open audio formats like OGG and FLAC. The only other bluetooth player was the iPod touch. The unit mounts in Nautilus fine and I can read/write files fine. I can even play audio files from it with Movie Player. Here's the problem: I can't get Rhythmbox or any other music player to run without crashing when the P3 is connected!
Most cellphones can play music. How does one sync Ubuntu One w. the music player in the cellphone. Alternatively how to download music from Ubuntu One to a cellphone? Access to the web/internet is assumed in this case.
i have a samsung sgh-j700 mobile phone and want to move music and photos from phone to computer and vice versa. im using ubuntu 10.10 ( i think? got free with ubuntu user)
is there any way to get this phone to be able to work on ubuntu?
Does anyone know of any software that would allow me to listen to music on my android phone that is stored on my computer? Most of the ones I have looked at involve having to buy the music, where as I already have a large music collection.
What I am trying to do: I am trying to use my G1 Android Phone as a remote to control my netbook playing music in my bedroom, My net book is playing music from my server using DAAP + Rythmbox. That part is done. The part I can't make work is the Andromote App on my phone controlling when the netbook plays, pause, next, prev, & volume.
What I am using: I am running Ubuntu 9.04 both on my server as well as my netbook (netbook has the netbook interface) I am running a rooted version of Android 1.6. The programs I am trying to use are Rythmbox on my netbook and Andromote on my G1.
I have a samsung vibrant. I can play my music files over one of my work computers via blue tooth. but have been able to do the same with my home ubuntu 10.04 computer. oddly enough.I can connect to the phone and see all the folders on the phone but I cant see any files.also, I can download files to the phone but not up from the phone. am i missing something that enables playback over blue tooth? or is it simply something that windows has zeroed in on that linux hasn't as of yet?
I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this, so feel free to move it around (mods) I have a Nokia 2700, the full specs of which are available here - [URL].. And it looks somewhat like this >
So the idea here is, I have connected it up in every possible way to my laptop through bluetooth. I have found a way to stream music playing on the phone through my laptop speakers. What I want to be able to do is to be able to stream music playing on my laptop (all sounds through the soundcard) via bluetooth (perhaps?) from my mobile phone speakers..
I'm hit with a very annoying bug: mouse clicks do not give focus anymore, focus stays trapped and sometimes right clicking the element that last had focus allows the next left click to move focus. I'm running wheezy with kde. Searching the web it I found no solution but it seems my problem is close to what is reported there:e issue: after alt+tab the window decoration changes as if the focus had moved to the new window but it stays trapped in the previous window. Rebooting does not fix the issue.I have nvidia graphics set up with dual screen through the nvidia drivers but this setup has been working good for several months, so I don't think it's related.
I was thinking about using Subsonic to stream music from my Gentoo system to my Android phone. Does this create security concern by allowing someone to hack in to my Gentoo system?
I want to focus two windows at the same time on the same pc. Is there a way to do that so I can have two games running at the same time so another person can play with me?
I have a question here. Prologue: When I open Synaptic Package Manager via Gnome Menu, password-request screen appear, screen dimmed, and I'm unable to react with another windows.
Can I have this effect to another applications, I meant that when I open the application, screen dimmed and I'm unable to react with another windows.
I installed Debian lenny 5.04 and facing an annoying problem in GNOME. When new window/applications are opened, it opens behind currently active window. I have to manually click task bar to open it.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and I have the window manager configured for "focus follows mouse" but new application windows will steal the focus. Seems like there are many threads out there complaining about this behavior, but I see no solutions, am I missing something?
Taking all Contacts and Emails temporarily back to Windows for safety - whilst I install Mint in place of Ubuntu. Using Thunderbird. I have checked the help files and checked Google.
