i am getting error message when installing lotus on linux machine

I joined a company as an IT staff 2 months plus back. I now encounters a problem that the booting up hangs at the time when it is starting domino services. I have no clue where to look at and duno where to start checking. A little description of the server. : It's a lotus notes domino server for employees webmail service. -> Now it is down. it's an external dns server: recently high volumes of query cache denied surfaces. it's also our proxy server. The only way to get it up and running is to turn off domino service. The system is running still with high volumes of queries I last checked.
Althrough it can boot up now and DNS & proxy are running, I couldn't access the system anymore. It will hang when I attempt to log in from the command prompt. Below is an illustration:
iasaix login: root -> I attempt to log in using root user
password: xxxxxxxx -> I keyed in my password
-> The cursor comes down and just keeps blinking and nothing happens.
Remote access is not possible as it has sshd disabled by default. Our employees cannot access their webmail now, which is a major issue.
Id like to ask you some advice. Im currently using as mail server Lotus Domino. Because of many reasons I need to create an SMTP server that receive the email from Dominothat relay those email into an authenticated SMTP on the internet. How can I do that? I create a Debian virtual machine and I installed Postfix. I edit the config file and set the relay host (authenticated SMTP on internet),the mtp_sasl_auth_enabled and smtp_sasl_password_maps parameters. If I try to send an email using that SMTP server I got a message that say âśRelay access denied, check the email address†What did I do wrong

I can't access webmail and POP3 from internet. Seems because connection from internet can't directly to Domino through Firewall. If using apache seems no problem with the webmail, but POP3 still can't access.

i want to do linux installation on client machine from server.
i configured NFS server. i actually installed all 5 CD's to one directory. these are not iso images.
i created directory /serverimage and inside this i created directory for each linux cd. i.e linuxcd1, linuxcd2 and so on ..
now my directory structure is :
cd /serverimage
ls
linuxcd1
linuxcd2
linuxcd3
linuxcd4
linuxcd5
now i exported /serverimage in /etc/exports
but when i boot my client machine with the first linux cd. and using linux askmethod
i selected NFS. i entered ip address for nfs server and directory as /serverimage
but it is not taking. saying unable to mount.
shall i create .iso images. i dont want to use .iso images since i want to configure yum repository later once client is installed. i dont know if yum repository can be installed using iso images on the server. so i just copied cdrom to directories to share it via nfs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a machine here. Tried to SSH to it and failed. Tried to "ssh localhost" from the machine itself and that failed. Did a quick google search and found out that an SSH server is not installed by default.
But how do I install it?

Basically would like a non-GUI, command line only interface, running SSH, Samba and a flavor of FTP. FTP must be set up so users only have access to their home directory and not to any other system dirs. In addition I may want to incorporate anonymous ftp login at some point. as vct user set vncpasswd
and as root user started vncserver by

I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 Server on a machine primarily as a LAMP & File server. I also have installed Webmin with this.
The problem is oviously I need a browser to do this. I am having issues trying to install firefox 3.5 and the open correctly from terminal to access Webmin. I am very new to this especially commands wise to open Firefox. Idont know if I need to change directories to open it. A few guides I looked at said type in ~firefox/firefox. Which didn't work.
Also I saw something about profile which I haven't setup yet. Would I need to do this?

I have a non gui server. I just tryed SSH -X and i didnt have to install any graphical library in the server, which is my goal, but except in the lan, its too slow. Im about to install the other ones, but i ask before:

So we would run one instance of server and many instance of client. I have 50 identical workstations that are being dropped shipped from the vendor directly to the remote locations. I need to install a identical configuration, including installed packages, scripts and customize configuration onto each of this workstations. I cannot set up a kickstart server to install from remotely because of my organizations security policies. Not to mention that it would be painfully slow. I thought about DD-ing my "Master" build and sending it to the remote sites, but some of the admins are not very Linux savvy. I would really like to build a bootable DVD that would install the cloned Master build from my server to theirs. I was looking for something that would look like Anaconda to the person installing the image. If I could get them through this base install I think it would be easy to document how to change the workstation unique parameters or value. How to accomplished this? BTW, this will be a RHEL 5.3 server install.
