General :: Configure Apache To Show Error Message In Browser
Jan 31, 2011
How can I configure apache2 to show the error message in the browser? Just for the purposes of debugging, I do not want to have to open the server error log every time.
Our websever, Linux Debian with mysql, apache2, php 5 went down this saturday. Now this monday morning i must find out why this happened. I am looking for the the correct log files. We know that the server was available by using ping so it is (was) an application failure. We know that the our apache support team had changed the php to improve performance to apc.shm_size=192M (a couple a weeks ago) because couple a weeks ago we got a "Unable to allocate memory for pool" error message. Our server is running on a Vmware Server version 3 as virtual machine with sufficient CPU and RAM resources. Where and which log files must be checked to avoid future download times (it is our Company web page!!!!)
When I am compiling from the src, I run the ./configure script. While there might be error sometimes, I 'd like to ask, what're the 3 stars( ***) in front of the msg stand for? Do they stand for critical errors?
Anyone know what this signifies in the Apache logs files:
Code: [Tue May 04 20:56:06 2010] [error] [client *******] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 20:56:06 2010] [error] [client *********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 21:05:18 2010] [error] [client ********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:) [Tue May 04 21:05:18 2010] [error] [client ********] client sent HTTP/1.1 request without hostname (see RFC2616 section 14.23): /w00tw00t.at.ISC.SANS.DFind:)
I want to run a linux command with apache through web browser and that's is not working. and it's working properly when I execute this command through terminal, where is the problem?
NOTE: apache have the privileges to execute the command
I was reading about Linux and found out that you can apparently custom build your own operating system.
The thing is, it all sounds great for what I would like to do but my knowledge in that area is zero, or sub-zero.
My question is: is there an operating system out there, that will start up the computer, then have a browser installed on it - lets say Firefox - with a homepage www.example.com?... (no start button or taskbar)
Maybe no toolbars or anything else except the webpage itself.
Also the hardware should be plug and play, such as printers, mobiles scanners or any usb driven devices.
Update-notifier told me there were updates today and I installed them. Among them were some for chromium (the browser, not the game ). After the update I couldn't start the browser. I tried starting from terminal and got: "Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-minimal.c: 138: realloc: Assertion `ptr == alloc_last_block' failed!" "I haz a fail!", I thought to myself and then tried rebooting and then reinstalling. Neither worked. This is on a 64-bit machine. Everything else works as expected. Using Firefox now, but I want my chromium-browser as well.
I have a machine which is currently running IceCast (a streaming audio server), which runs on port 80. I installed Apache 2 and configured it to run on port 18080 through the httpd.conf file. Restarted httpd service. I cannot get to 10.0.0.128:18080 (this is the IP of the machine). The Icecast server webpage is still accessible. No logs are generated by apache in the logs folder. Firewall is off (iptables).

I want to configure NTLM for my Apache webserver, so that it uses active directory login credentials. Additional info : my listen port will be 82 (http://xxxx.com:82)
*Am trying to configure on machine ?MyServer.net? apache on port 8586. *Two applications run on same machine on different ports Jenkins on 8081 and Hudson on 8080.*Request coming to 8586 port should redirect to either 8080 or 8081 on one condition. *The request from client machine coming to MyServernet:8586 looks something like this ?MyServer.net/job/<JOBNAME>/build?token=TOKEN?.
Condition If <JOBNAME> is ?naveen? apache should redirect to 8081. If <JOBNAME> is not ?naveenn? apache should redirect to 8080.
I have apache2, sql, php all installed fine on my debian installation. Initially, I installed phpmyadmin via apt-get install phpmyadmin. However, I wanted to upgrade my version of phpMyAdmin to the latest, so uninstalled and deleted it and used subversion to get a later version of phpMyAdmin. I decompressed the file in etc/ and renamed it to phpmyadmin. So now my working copy is located in /etc/phpmyadmin.
The issue: I cannot get phpmyadmin to show up in my web browser in http://MYIP/phpmyadmin. I used echo Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf to get the line in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf, issue is, there IS no apache.conf in the phpmyadmin directory. If I recall correctly, installing phpmyadmin from the debian package has you choose a server before finishing the installation. I obviously did NOT get this prompt as I am installing from source.
Questions: How do I set the server? Is this why /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf is missing? Additionally: I have searched for hours for a solution and found nothing. I tried the phpmyadmin manual installation where you create a conf folder and set the permissions but in the end I could NOT access /phpmyadmin/scripts/setup.php

Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)
I am quite new to Linux. Just some basic information, I am using windows xp but have installed vmwork station and am running Red Hat enterprise linux 4.
When i run ./configure it gives me this error. "configure: error: libnet >=1.1.2.1 not found "
is there a way to bind shortcut, that would open the browser (this one exists in gnome) if it was not opened. But once the browser is running it just shows/restores opened window?
Using IMAP to retrieve emails in Evolution is not working correctly. Some messages are recieved, others are not. Those messages that cannot be recieved, reports the following error message: Unable to retrieve message
I have created a php page with only PHP Code: <? php echo "OK"; ?> in the code. When I go to that page in a browser, I get a blank page. Is that normal, or am I suppose to see the word "OK" displayed in a browser? When I became curious, I open up Wireshark to capture the packets, I see that my server is giving out a "HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error".
Here's the entire tcp stream: Code: GET /services/test.php HTTP/1.1 Host: 192.168.1.5 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 .....
i just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....
I just installed AWStats on a new server and can't get perl to properly work as a cgi in apache. I've done this before and got it to work, and I've tried a couple suggestions found from google with no luck. When I try to access [URL] from my browser, Apache doesn't give any errors or anything, it just outputs the perl file in plain text, which implies that it's not handling the .pl file as a perl cgi, but I just don't know why.
