I am running an apache2 server in ubuntu. When I connect my laptop directly to my modem, I can access my web page (from any computer or phone) without any problems.I start getting weird issues when I try running my web server behind my DLink 524 router. It will run perfectly for about an hour or so then the web page will become inaccessible from any computer except the one which I am running my server on. I have made sure to forward and requests to port 80 on my machine and I have also set the router firewall to allow access through port 80 and port 443. I don't get any error messages in my apache2 log when my site goes down.Since the site worked perfectly when my computer was connected directly to my modem, I figure it has to be a router problem.
I have setup a server (first time) Installed Ubuntu and apache2, MySql and PHP. Test and get "Its Works"
I have apple Extreme Router, I can access the Server by SSH and local IP address of 10.0.1.117 Cannot access from outside on www ? I think this is a porting Issue.
I recently got a static IP from my ISP. I Have two machines connected to my DLink wireless router. A windows laptop and linux machine runninf centos 5.3. I would like to host an application apache/tomcat based on my linux machine and would like people to access it from the outside. What configurations do I need to make on the Dlink wireless router and my linux box to make it work.
I am thinking of moving the router behind a server and connecting the server directly to the internet via a modem. Are there any security issues related to doing this? or other things I should be aware of. Iptables are implemented on the server blocking access on unused ports.
I am trying to solve a problem where Apache stats aren't displaying correctly in Munin. I've ran through quite a bit of checks and tests regarding Munin setup, but I think my issue is related to Apache, but my skill set there is lacking.
first, system info: monitored server: CentOS 5.3 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5
Mm sorry for the silly questions but I dont seem to be able to get my server to listen to my router or the other way around. when i httpd i get the error (99)Cannot assign requested address: make_sock: could not bind to address 192.168.1.1:8080I am using a Billion 5200G router I have also been trying all night with my BELKIN router but no success.
1) I have a nameserver I set up at Enom days ago the site has been registered for about 9 months now ns1.startwebhostingnow.com
2) When I try to access ns1.startwebhostingnow.com I get through to my routers administartion area so the nameserver seems to direct to the right place.
3) I have a PPoE LLC connection from my ISP with one static IP but like i said the nameserver seems to direct to my router but no further.
4) I have set up the server in the System/Administration/server settings/http area servername ns1.startweb hostingnow.com with an ip of 192.168.1.1 on port 8080
5) In the NAT router area I have DMZ set as 192.168.1.53 which should be my servers ip address
6) In the NAT Virtual Server I have: RuleApplicationProtocolStart PortEnd Port Local IP Address1 HTTP_Server TCP 8080 8080 192.168.1.53
Just setup an ssh server...kinda. I need to forward the port (22) through my router. I have forwarded ports before for programs so the whole thing isnt a mystery. But i need to know what to put in for a couple boxes.... Private ip: ? protocol type: tcp, udp, or both?
I am trying to set up a DUAL WAN Load balancer on linux. All i want is just the dual wan loadbalancing and nothing else not even the firewall service. Also what would be the ideal configration for that system
I've just finished installed a mail server with Fedora 12 + postfix + courier. I also have Squirrelmail and ISPConfig3 installed. The mail server is behind a router. I have [URL] pointed to the static IP at my router. My ISP has opened port 25 & 110 for me and my router has these 2 ports forwarded to my mail server (192.168.0.100).Workstations in local network can connect to my mail server and send emails with no problem but cannot receive emails from outside. I tried an email dossier and it saids connection timed out on smtp session. Do I need to include my static IP somewhere in the configuration so that it communicates to the world properly?
I am upgrading my server and I have a lot of sites. Since I cannot take my server down for a few days, maybe a week until I manage to migrate all the sites to the new machine, I figured I could migrate them one by one. After migrating one, I would somehow tunnel the requests of that name virtual host to my internal machine. When everything is migrated, I would then switch the machines, update ip's and stuff and everything will work just fine.
However I cannot seem to find a way to do this tunneling. is this at all possible? If not, what alternatives do I have?
I had installed Ubuntu 10 to my desktop computer & I want to make it as DHCP server with Router, and use it for testing. I had installed dhcp server (apt-get install dhcp3-server) what should I do further? What file to edit? Also , I had 2 network cards, so I had to assign correctly the IPs & interfaces.

I'm using a cross-over ethernet cable to connect a Desktop Windows 7 box, and a laptop running on SUSE 11.2. I want Windows to connect to the internet via the laptop's wireless interface.
Our websever, Linux Debian with mysql, apache2, php 5 went down this saturday. Now this monday morning i must find out why this happened. I am looking for the the correct log files. We know that the server was available by using ping so it is (was) an application failure. We know that the our apache support team had changed the php to improve performance to apc.shm_size=192M (a couple a weeks ago) because couple a weeks ago we got a "Unable to allocate memory for pool" error message. Our server is running on a Vmware Server version 3 as virtual machine with sufficient CPU and RAM resources. Where and which log files must be checked to avoid future download times (it is our Company web page!!!!)
I am trying to monitorize an OpenWRT (Backfire 10.03, r23115) router from an Ubuntu server, but I am having some problems. I have installed Nrpe (2.12) on the remote host (OpenWRT), I have executed the program as a deamon (/usr/sbin/nrpe -d) but when I start the NRPE deamon, I don't get anything about NRPE executing netstat -at or ps -ef.I would need to install check_nrpe on OpenWRT to find out if NRPE is working, but I can't find any ipk package with it. Now, once in the monitoring host when I try to reach the remote host from the server:
I was unable to access my dedicated server for few minutes. I have checked the apache error logs and found below notice: [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down I have tried to search from Google but could not find much information about this error.
I've got an old SuSE box that is a SVN server using apache for ldap authentication. The suers are not able to log on for some reason so I am trying to find out where this box is pointed to authenticate. I do not know SuSE or ldap well enough to know where to look to find out this info.

Good tutorial, using images for a lamp server that has, MySQL,PHP, Apache, FTP with all the fruit for running a server that will host a Gallery, forum and main site
I know there's heaps around for Ubuntu 9.10, but its not quiet what I'm looking for as in Gd, ImageMagick and some extras for Apache mods
I have a box that is Rec Hat Linux 5.4 with Apache server 2.2.3 . I'm told there are multiple vulnerabilities in Apache httpd, that version 2.2.16 or later is better. However, I did a package update this week and 2.2.3 is where I sit. Is there a newer version that will run or a patch for 2.2.3? Upgrading Red Hat is not an option.
I need to tune the mysql and apache server for the comparatively busy webserver. My scenario is like this.
1. The Web request is around 2000 request at a time or more. 2. Each web request will generate one mysql query. 3. The query to database is all read. 4. This server load will be at peak for around 3-4 hours after that the load will subside. As the task will be published, around 300,000 will be viewing the page.
5 quad servers are deployed, load is balanced via DNS but performance is not as expected. Centos 5.5 is used as OS. Top command shows The mysql process is around 185%!
