Fedora X86/64bit :: Installing The Xen Runtime Environment Package Or The Xen Emulator For KVM?

I recently gave the boot to Windows and installed Fedora 10. Under Windows, I was using VirtualBox for all of my virtualized computing needs. I had set up a virtual network with two virtual machines - one running Windows Server 2K3 and the other running Windows 2000 Pro. I could run both VMs at the same time and still use the host OS. Now I am trying a similar setup under Fedora, I am using VirtualBox to run Server 2K3 and Windows XP. The problem I encounter is that when I run one VM, one of my CPU cores rockets to 100% usage and the other hovers around 40% - 60% usage. Is there a way to enhance performance so I can run both VMs at the same time? Third, what would be the effects of me installing the Xen runtime environment package or the Xen emulator for KVM?
I am trying to install the Matlab 7.5 compiled runtime for 64-bit Linux (MCRInstaller.75.glnxa64.bin) and keep getting a "No Java Runtime Environment(JRE) was found on this system." error message.
I understand the JRE is bundled with MCRInstaller and will self-compile/install. However, I don't have admin access, could this be the source of the problem? If so, how could I fix it (not sure how to direct it to install locally without going into the source code)?
I got around this error before, but stupid me didn't write down what I did and I forgot.
I tried a lot but I can' t enable java in firefox. I' ve installed java jre 1.6.20, I created symbolic shorcut to .mozilla/plugins directory but it doesn' t work. By the way /plugins directory wasn' esixt and i created it in .mozilla dir. I use opensuse 11.2 and firefox 3.6.3.
Running programs in X (WindowMaker) as another user.
Until recently (Debian Stretch) I was able to run graphical programs in X as a second user, like so:
- log into X as user1 - run "xhost+" - run "su - user2" - run any graphical program (gthumb, konquerer, ...) as user2
Now when I try to run a program as user2, I get

XDG_RUNTIME_DIR for user1 points to /run/user/1000 which I believe gets created by pam_systemd when logging into X. However, doing "su - user2" does not create /run/user/1001. Why not? And how do I get on-the-fly user switching working again?
Related to this, /run/user/1001 not being created on user switch has always caused me some grief b/c audio would not work for user2. But I could work around that by piping pulse through a socket. But now graphics are also broken and that I can't seem to work around.

Just did a fresh install of 8.04 on wifes laptop (Inspiron 1521) as it has been a nightmare getting things to work with it's hardware and 8.04 seems to have the least issues. I'm having trouble understanding the principles behind OpenSuse package and repository management. Here is a concrete example: I want to install the 32bit version of glibc. (using zypper) Naturally I write 'wp glibc' to see what's available. Output:

I'm looking for the (32bit) tokyocabinet library. I go through all the hoops like I did in the first example. Nothing shows up! How is that possible? Does opensuse really not have this library in any repository? Does that mean I have to install from source? How can I be sure that zypper searches through all repositories?

I am having issues getting a 32-bit environment to run something on my computer. Most people think this is a lame game, but I rather enjoy it and would like to continue playing it on this computer. I am running F11 x86_64 on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ Black Edition (OC'd at 3.4 in case anyone is wondering). I TRIED running yum to get the shared library referenced in the following message, but it gave conflicts on installation. Is there a way around this, such as installing a separate environment directory for just this game? Or is it just a lost cause?

The new problem is highlighted in the terminal output. I've searched the web for this issue, and it seems to be caused by an older lib included with glibc.i586, though I don't know how to verify or correct this. I tried a lot of things before finding this list.

I'm trying to install Open Rocket : [URL]. I don't think I have java installed. I went to software center and tried to install "OpenJDK Java 6 runtime" and it says package dependencies cannot be resolved. After installing Fedora 14 and being satisfied with the behaviour and the packages installed for it, i want to replicate the same installation in a few more PCs, so i installed Revisor to make with it an iso file that reflects my actual installation.
The problem is that if i run the software from Applications->System tools->Revisor, nothing happens after giving the user password.
Then i run it from a consele and this error is produced after giving my password: "Cannot find anaconda-runtime in /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime"
But anaconda is the environment used for installation, so it is installed from the very begining. Why this happens?
I have updated the gdm file to be able to log in as root in Fedora 10.Nevertheless after I had selected package updates to be installed logged in as root I still get an error message that I do not have enough privileges.The terminal installation method is a bit of a problem since I do not think it will search for dependencies and therefore it can be excessively long to figure out what is missing for a package installation. In simple cases it works OK, but in more difficult cases it is a bear.
I have been attempting to compile lmms on my 64 bit install of fedora 11, and have determined that I need the gcc-devel package. I cannot find it in any of the repositories. Where is it?
I am running Fedora 12 x86-64. I have a SRPM and want to build both x86-64 and i686 package. But the rpmbuild -ba can only build x86-64 package. --target=i686 is not working fine too, it try to find dependency in /usr/lib64. How can I build i686 package?
AMD 64-bit quad core Scientific Linux 6.0 Firefox 3.6 Firefox is complaining that I need a java plugin. Apparently, it has to be installed manually. I managed to download jre-6u25-linux-x64.bin and saved it on my desktop. Then a ran jre-6u25-linux-x64.bin and it created a directory on my desktop called jre-6.0_25. Within the directory there the following subdirectories: bin, javaws, lib, man, and plugin.
I installed Fedora 12 on my computer using the install DVD and that worked fine. However, upon booting up, I was dismayed to find that all I could access was the command line where it says: [root@localhost~]#
So naturally I went searching and found that the problem was that no desktop environment had been installed. So I went to try to install KDE since I really like the way its screenshots worked and a number of my friends recommended it. I hooked my computer into my router(since I'm finding wireless on my machine is going to be tricky right now) and used yum to try to install the desktop. I found the appropriate code at [URL] to install with yum. I promptly did and allowed yum to do its thing, downloading and installing all the necessary files after which I went through the steps on the website.
The problem comes now, when I try to boot my new desktop environment from the command line. I've tried the "yum clean all" option to no avail. When I update either with the GUI or command line, I get this error:

Can I not have the 64 bit and 32 bit packages installed at the same time?
my update today failed, because the packages raydium and maniadrive depend on libphp5-5.2.9.so, which is provided by php-embedded, which is (apparently) not in the fedora 64bit repository There does however seem to be an i586 version...
I have configured the Adobe repos and when I try to install Adobe Reader, yum gives me the following error:
Code: Transaction Check Error: package nss-softokn-freebl-3.12.4-19.fc12.x86_64 (which is newer than nss-softokn-freebl-3.12.4-17.fc13.i686) is already installed I tried --skipbroken as a longshot to no avail. Obviously if I try to remove nss-softokn-freebl it tries to remove all of Fedora , looked in Koji but there is nothing in there either.
This has been happening for over a week and is preventing me from installing updates, They all download OK then as they start to install I get this error message. Test Transaction Errors: package nss-softokn-3.12.4-19.fc13.x86_64 (which is newer than nss-softokn-3.12.4-17.fc13.i686) is already installed Then the update fails and I am unable to continue.
I am a complete noob with this OS, I left for a week in the hope it would sort it's self out.
Since the Fedoraplus site is down, I alternatively downloaded the FC14 version in hopes that it would work. Instead, I now receive the following error any time I try to remove or install a package via yum: Code: [Errno 22] invalid mode ('w') or filename: '//var/lib/yum/rpmdb-indexes/conflicts.tmp' I'm pretty sure the issue here is a typo in a file (the extra "/" in the path to "conflicts.tmp").
