Fedora X86/64bit :: 32-bit Compatibility 32-bit Environment - Highlighted In The Terminal Output

Sep 19, 2009

I am having issues getting a 32-bit environment to run something on my computer. Most people think this is a lame game, but I rather enjoy it and would like to continue playing it on this computer. I am running F11 x86_64 on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ Black Edition (OC'd at 3.4 in case anyone is wondering). I TRIED running yum to get the shared library referenced in the following message, but it gave conflicts on installation. Is there a way around this, such as installing a separate environment directory for just this game? Or is it just a lost cause?

[Code]....

The new problem is highlighted in the terminal output. I've searched the web for this issue, and it seems to be caused by an older lib included with glibc.i586, though I don't know how to verify or correct this. I tried a lot of things before finding this list.

Fedora X86/64bit :: Installing RPM - Yum Output Via Terminal Error

Mar 16, 2011

I'm new to Fedora and the Red Hat way of doing things, having been a Ubuntu/Mint user for the last 5-6 years. I've been using Fedora for my daily computer now for the last 3-4 months - a change that has definitely been for the better! However, earlier this morning I went to install a .rpm, and yum output via terminal the following error:

Code:
[leeky@darkstar ~]$ sudo yum install opera
[sudo] password for leeky:
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* fedora: mirror.netrino.co.uk
* rpmfusion-free: mirror01.th.ifl.net
* rpmfusion-free-updates: mirror01.th.ifl.net
* rpmfusion-nonfree: mirror01.th.ifl.net
* rpmfusion-nonfree-updates: mirror01.th.ifl.net
* updates: mirror.netrino.co.uk
Error: database disk image is malformed
[leeky@darkstar ~]$

This is the first time I have received this error. I've now tried the following methods of resolving this problem with no luck:

1. Code:
yum clean all
2. Code:
yum clean metadata
yum clean dbcache
yum makecache
3. Physically removing the /var/libs/yum folder, and creating a new "yum" folder, and then step two above to rebuild it. Either way the problem then still returns in terminal.

Fedora X86/64bit :: 32 Bit Compatibility On FC10 - C++ Libs

I assumed this had to be a FAQ, but after hours of searching, how to do this on FC11, but that didn't work with the yum on FC10. I don't need a huge list, but at least the basics (ld-linux.so, and I imagine the C++ compatibility libs).

Fedora X86/64bit :: Installing The Xen Runtime Environment Package Or The Xen Emulator For KVM?

Feb 28, 2009

I recently gave the boot to Windows and installed Fedora 10. Under Windows, I was using VirtualBox for all of my virtualized computing needs. I had set up a virtual network with two virtual machines - one running Windows Server 2K3 and the other running Windows 2000 Pro. I could run both VMs at the same time and still use the host OS. Now I am trying a similar setup under Fedora, I am using VirtualBox to run Server 2K3 and Windows XP. The problem I encounter is that when I run one VM, one of my CPU cores rockets to 100% usage and the other hovers around 40% - 60% usage. Is there a way to enhance performance so I can run both VMs at the same time? Third, what would be the effects of me installing the Xen runtime environment package or the Xen emulator for KVM?

System specs:

OS: Fedora 10 x86-64
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Toledo)
RAM: 2GB PC3200
GPU: GeForce 7600 GT XXX

I am relatively new to Linux.

General :: How To Redirect A Terminal/tty Output To Other Terminal/tty

Dec 14, 2010

hello
I tried to find a good subject but it was the best of mine, anyway I'll explain it here.
some time I do some thing like installing a new application in Linux terminal of my office PC but it take a long time and I have to go home during its installation or configuration process that it is not good to cancel it.My current solution is abandoning the process until next day. I wanted to know is there any way to redirect an input and out put of a terminal to another one, if it works I can continue my abandoned process by ssh to my Linux office PC and redirect that terminal to my new remote sshed terminal from my home.

Thank a lot for any help.

Software :: Set Environment Variables That Don't Need Terminal ?

Jun 12, 2011

I've added an export command to /etc/profile, but the environment variables don't show up when not using a terminal.

For example: when I add:

Code:

To my /etc/profile (then open a new terminal so it registers) and run a graphical program from that terminal, the graphical program can see see the environment variable A.

However if I add the export command to my /etc/profile, then reboot so everything registers, then run that same graphical program from a menu (such as Applications->Accessories->Myprogram), it can't see the environment variable.

What I'm trying to say is basically, my environment variables only show up if I run a program in a shell. Is there a way to set environment variables that will show even without a shell?
