I'm having troubles running systemtap scripts. It fails to run with message:

So no kernel-debuginfo, a package which I cannot find in repo. So where to get it and why it's not included in default installation if SystemTap is. It's like having Apache without tcp/ip stack.
I just tried to update to kernel 2.6.27.15-170.2.24.fc10 (x86_64) at the suggestion of the gnome update widget, and the process hung. A bunch of other things were updating at the same time, many of which were related to audacity or wine.
I'm not sure just what was being updated, because the option to review which updates are available does not work - when I click on it, nothing happens, but when I take the other choice (install all updates), I take pot luck. It would be nice to be able to choose which programs to update, and to be able to upgrade the kernel independently, but I don't seem to be able to do that at the moment.
I've tried the "yum clean all" option to no avail. When I update either with the GUI or command line, I get this error:

Todays updates [via the Pkg Updater GUI] were over 300 meg.
After the updates and reboot
System was showing version 8.0 in the GUI desktop and using 'cat /etc/debian_version'
Then...
From terminal I did ...
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
The dist-upgrade was over 40 minute and ~ 500meg
Things seemed to go well.
I updated sources.list with apt-spy.

I've just installed Fedora 11, and in the process of testing it, decided on trying out virtualization tools.
Services: libvirtd, xenner and xend are started and i'm still unable to connect to hypervisor with the message:
Unable to open a connection to the Xen hypervisor/daemon.
Verify that:
- A Xen host kernel was booted
- The Xen service has been started

xend.log is empty
Now, I've also tried installing Fedora 11 x86_64 as a guest OS with KVM/QEMU as a solution, and the installation process starts, but after some time, the console screen goes black and there is no DVD driver activity or HDD led activity. The CPU is at 2-5 % utilization. And there is nothing I can think of to 'resume' the installation or whatever.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Lenovo B450 laptop with Fedora 14 x86_64. The laptop has a Atheros AR5001 wireless adapter and is identified at lscpi.
Additionally lspci reports that the kernel driver in use and the kernel module for that device is ath5k.On a fresh install of Fedora 14, the NetworkManager applet seem to behave well at enabling and disabling wireless (remember the "Enable Wireless" checkbox). Though wireless was always at disabled state at every boot time, even if it was enabled at the toggle button on the laptop. Now that, after I have fully updated the system (yum -y update), I'm unable to enable wireless. Clicking on the "Enable Wireless" menu item on the NetworkManager applet has no effect, and I've a confirmed report that the update broke this functionality (I reinstalled F14, and then it was working, full system update broke the function).After the update, the kernel version is 2.6.35.10-72.fc14.x86_64 and the NetworkManager version is 0.8.1-10.git20100831.fc14.x86_64.
After the 4th install The printer will at least produce a test page, but the available resolution is low, I suspect I need the gutenprint enhanced drivers, printer is a EPSON R285. Where do I find the nvidia libs so I can use the Nvidia driver for my ancient 8500 GTX. Using the package manager find nvidia shows nothing.
Are these libs held on another repo, as in other distros?, and is Acroread availble? is there a listing if the repos somewhere, I have some apps that have to be compiled and are a pig to get going, due to using those funny cut down libs that ubuntu use. When I backed up the last failing version of FC13, which hung as soon as yum was started, didn't print ect, I didn't close firefox down before copying the file. So the user config is locked, ie, you get firefox is already running, and fails to start. I found parentlock and deleted it, but but there is another lock file that needs to be removed, and I can't find it.. Anyone know the location of the lockfiles for firefox.?
I have Fedora 11 installed on two different machines, one 32 bit and the other 64 bit. If I play an mp3 file in the 64 bit system---it doesn't seem to matter which player I use---then I can only start, stop, or go to the beginning or end of the selection. I can't advance the stream to some intermediate point. The slider display showing the position is greyed out. The same programs on the same file in the 32 bit system work normally and allow me to advance the position by using the mouse with the slider. This may have something to do with how gnome is configured on the two machines, but I can't figure out what is different.

WhenI run yum update it shows packages to be upgraded and asks me to confirm. I enter yes but Yum fails on the first package. Running Fedora 12 64 bit version, when browsing the web get notifications that I need to install missing add in, flash player as it turns out. When I try to run either the install automatically or manually it fails when it is run though the installer, when I attempt to install manually I get popup notification that flash is already installed. Why OS thinks I still need to install it and how to correct this issue?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently gave the boot to Windows and installed Fedora 10. Under Windows, I was using VirtualBox for all of my virtualized computing needs. I had set up a virtual network with two virtual machines - one running Windows Server 2K3 and the other running Windows 2000 Pro. I could run both VMs at the same time and still use the host OS. Now I am trying a similar setup under Fedora, I am using VirtualBox to run Server 2K3 and Windows XP. The problem I encounter is that when I run one VM, one of my CPU cores rockets to 100% usage and the other hovers around 40% - 60% usage. Is there a way to enhance performance so I can run both VMs at the same time? Third, what would be the effects of me installing the Xen runtime environment package or the Xen emulator for KVM?

RAM: 2GB PC3200

I have configured the Adobe repos and when I try to install Adobe Reader, yum gives me the following error:

Obviously if I try to remove nss-softokn-freebl it tries to remove all of Fedora , looked in Koji but there is nothing in there either.
This has been happening for over a week and is preventing me from installing updates, They all download OK then as they start to install I get this error message. I am a complete noob with this OS, I left for a week in the hope it would sort it's self out.
Since the Fedoraplus site is down, I alternatively downloaded the FC14 version in hopes that it would work. Instead, I now receive the following error any time I try to remove or install a package via yum:
