View 3 RepliesI've already gotten into the .mozilla folder and found the profiles.ini file. My windows XP system has it's Documents and Settings folder on a seperate drive (D:Documents and settings) And I've located the profile (application datamozillafirefoxprofiles) Now all I need to do is put the path into the profiles.ini file in the .mozilla folder in Ubuntu. The problem is I don't know exactly how to format it.
In windows the path is:
How would I translate this into something ubuntu "follows?" I already have the profile name changed as well.
I try to use the same firefox/thunderbird profile in opensuse and in windows, but if i give the windows profile to the suse firefox, it says to me: "profile is already used/ firefox is already running " Is there any workaroud for this? Btw the profile sharing works well with ubuntu. I use opensuse 11.1 kde4 reloaded and the installer mounted my windows partition to /windows/c
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a stripped down version of Ubuntu 10.04 with no menu options for security. On the admin profile we have set up a terminal window for editing or adding users. We have created a second user with no admin privileges which we want to make the default on start up. This account is set to auto-login and takes them to a generic screen with just one icon to select and do anything with. I need to make this user the default on start up instead of the admin account as we do not want users knowing there is anything else available. When using the $ :users-admin in the terminal window to build the other account I have no option to make one or the other default. Is this done from the command line or is there another way of making this happen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was reading some threads this morning and saw mention of the envy script. I wondered if it would make a big difference in graphics (nothing was wrong just curious is all) and downloaded the script. I ran it and there was only one listing for an ATI driver. I installed it and upon reboot I a notification pops up in place of my desktop. It says something about having to use low-res. The thing is it won't even use low-res. I get a box with three choices on it. Use the default, create a new profile, ***something else I forget*** and none of these logs me into desktop.
I blindly checked through some of the boxes and saw some logs. I'm using my dual-boot to type this message. This is on my R51e that has an ATI X200M card. What do I do?
EDIT: So upon reading some threads it seems I will most likely have to reinstall the OS? Am I allowed to throw a temper tantrum here???
I implore anyone who knows how to remove that 8.66***some other numbers*** driver and go back to the default one! I don't think I'll be mucking around with these types of things again!
Is there any setting to connect ssh server using default profile.
for example if I run
ssh user@ssh_server_ip '/bin/bash --norc --noprofile'
it will skip user's login profile(/etc/profile,/etc/bashrc,~/.bashrc,~/.bash_profile)
Can i do some settings in ssh server that deny profile skipping by client.
This is the first time I am using forum. I am using SUSE 11.0 I dont know which settings I made but for one of the user I am not able to see the blue bar which has minimize, maximize, close bar.
I tried to replace .bashrc other related files by creating new user but the problem still exists.
Kindly help me to know what are the user profile related files and what might be the cause for this.
Where does Firefox 3.5.7_64 keeps it's bookmarks on Ubuntu 9.10_64 bit.
I want to replace the default set with my Seamonkey_32 bit set from My Windows7_32 bit profile. I tried to import them but Firefox reports no "Program that contains bookmarks...." exists. Before doing this I mounted the Windows partition.
As i played with compiz configuration, just for fun i changed the profile from unity to default. Then i cant see sidebar and search and all. only i can see in the desktop is my wallpaper!! How can i restore back?

View 9 Replies View RelatedBut I couldn't find a modified version of it for Swiftfox anywhere, so I decided to modify it myself. But I'm not 100% sure that I did it correctly, so I thought I'd ask here.
Also, will Swiftfox 3.6.4 be able to use this same profile? I thought it might not because of the new "Out of process plugins" feature being added.
I am trying to use AutoYast on openSUSE 11.3 x86. I have a Hard Disk install from the openSUSE ISO in /dev/sda1 partition and this partition also has the autoinst.xml.The installer is not able to find my autoinst.xml and it complains "/dev/sda1 not mounted or mount failed".The Kernel command line parameter that I gave is "autoyast=device://sda1/boot/src/autoinst.xml" which is what works in SLES 11.0.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a Windows user, but now trying to migrate to Ubuntu. I have read AppArmor Docs/FAQs, and very impressed with it's possibilities. But I'm still not sure, can I have a profile which is applied to all applications I run (not listed in other profiles)? That would be great to have a "Simple Application" default profile, with permissions, say, to read/write to app's folder and to display graphics/play sounds!

For whatever reason I can't get FF to show all of the add-ons I have. Yes, they are installed and they appear when as icons when I first boot up but after I close FF and start it again there are no icons (like Adblock).

So I've always added an export line in the /etc/profile that has the proxy server for our organization. Now there is a warning in that file that I should use a custom .sh in the profile.d folder. Can I just create a myproxy.sh with the export http_proxy="insert my proxy" line in it and call it a day or do I have to do some crazy shell script?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to include a profile pic within the GUI login prompt for Fedora 11?
I have the profile pic set in the "About Me" configuration page, and this will show up in my toolbar in the upper right hand corner, but when I log out and go to select my login name from the list of users within the login prompt, I don't see my pic, just the generic user picture.
Is there a way to set this? I have multiple users using this machine. It would be nice if they can just visually scan for their picture to login with.
modifying the default liveuser settings (IE: ~/.gconf, ~/.mozilla) in a ReMix.
I have been trying to get this working without much luck. I can easily add individual files in a (%post -nochroot) block, but when I try and recursively copy directory structures such as the above, I get masses of errors as GNOME loads.
The UID and GID are correct for the liveuser account, so I don't know what's up. I've tried this method using Sabayon to create the account, and by directly copying the modified (running) liveuser directories to a usb stick then rebooting to do the livecd-creator work.
90% of what I want done can be done inside the (%post) block with echo, cat, sed, awk, and gconftool-2, but for my needs it's easier to simply keep the modified profile handy and copy it to where it needs to be.
I have a fresh install of Fedora 13 64 bit. I am unable to create VPN profiles in network manager as a normal user.
To test: Logging in with gnome as root, I am able to create a VPN profile in Network Manager Logging in with KDE as root, I am not able to create a VPN profile in Network Connections.
Problem: Logging in as a normal user with KDE, I am not able to create a VPN profile in Network Connections. On the VPN tab, the Add... button is greyed out.
What is required to add VPN connections under KDE on Fedora 13?
I just wiped out my F10 system and install F12. I had 7.1 audio working great on F10, but I can't seems to get it in F12. My lspci shows:
Code:00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)and aplay -L shows:Code:null Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
default:CARD=Intel
HDA Intel, ALC882 Analog
Default Audio Device
front:CARD=Intel,DEV=0
[Code]...
I'm trying to get 5.1 surround sound working on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop running Fedora 13 (64 bit), but there is no option for it under "Sound Preferences - Hardware - Profile". There is an option for "Analog Surround 4.0 Output", which does as it says and uses four of the speakers (front and rear left and right) correctly (and the subwoofer as well I think, though not sure if this is done correctly).Running "aplay -L" gives the following:
Quote:
default
Default
frontARD=Intel,DEV=0
HDA Intel, STAC92xx Analog
Front speakers
surround40ARD=Intel,DEV=0
[Code]...
it looks like it should be possible to set 5.1 surround sound (i.e. I don't think it's a driver issue).Though running "speaker-test -c 6" doesn't quite work as it should - it outputs via the subwoofer on "Center" and doesn't produce any sound on "LFE". But to start with at least - is there a way of manually forcing "Analog Surround 5.1 Output" to be a choice under "Sound Preferences"?
I have a new install of F14.
I installed java and now I was to set some environment variables.
So I created a file called java.sh and placed it in /etc/profile.d
I gave the file 755 permissions and made it executable.
When I logged out, to get the changes to take, and try to log back in I cannot.
I enter my user name and password in the greeter, the screen goes black for a moment, and then the greeter comes back. Same if I try to log in as any user, including root. I'm in this endless loop of entering user/pass and then the screen going away for a second and then getting prompted for user/pass all over again.
