Security :: Force To Use Default Profile Into Ssh Connection?

Jun 14, 2010

Is there any setting to connect ssh server using default profile.

for example if I run

ssh user@ssh_server_ip '/bin/bash --norc --noprofile'
it will skip user's login profile(/etc/profile,/etc/bashrc,~/.bashrc,~/.bash_profile)

Can i do some settings in ssh server that deny profile skipping by client.

Ubuntu Security :: Use Lucid's Default Firefox AppArmor Profile For Swiftfox?

But I couldn't find a modified version of it for Swiftfox anywhere, so I decided to modify it myself. But I'm not 100% sure that I did it correctly, so I thought I'd ask here.

Also, will Swiftfox 3.6.4 be able to use this same profile? I thought it might not because of the new "Out of process plugins" feature being added.

Ubuntu Security :: Migrate - Default "Simple Application" AppArmor Profile

Sep 6, 2010

I'm a Windows user, but now trying to migrate to Ubuntu. I have read AppArmor Docs/FAQs, and very impressed with it's possibilities. But I'm still not sure, can I have a profile which is applied to all applications I run (not listed in other profiles)? That would be great to have a "Simple Application" default profile, with permissions, say, to read/write to app's folder and to display graphics/play sounds!

Ubuntu :: Making 1 Profile Default When More Than 1?

Jun 23, 2011

We have a stripped down version of Ubuntu 10.04 with no menu options for security. On the admin profile we have set up a terminal window for editing or adding users.We have created a second user with no admin privileges which we want to make the default on start up. This account is set to auto-login and takes them to a generic screen with just one icon to select and do anything with. I need to make this user the default on start up instead of the admin account as we do not want users knowing there is anything else available.When using the $ :users-admin in the terminal window to build the other account I have no option to make one or the other default. Is this done from the command line or is there another way of making this happen?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Use The Default, Create A New Profile

Jan 18, 2010

I was reading some threads this morning and saw mention of the envy script. I wondered if it would make a big difference in graphics (nothing was wrong just curious is all) and downloaded the script. I ran it and there was only one listing for an ATI driver. I installed it and upon reboot I a notification pops up in place of my desktop. It says something about having to use low-res. The thing is it won't even use low-res. I get a box with three choices on it. Use the default, create a new profile, ***something else I forget*** and none of these logs me into desktop.

I blindly checked through some of the boxes and saw some logs. I'm using my dual-boot to type this message. This is on my R51e that has an ATI X200M card. What do I do?

EDIT: So upon reading some threads it seems I will most likely have to reinstall the OS? Am I allowed to throw a temper tantrum here???

I implore anyone who knows how to remove that 8.66***some other numbers*** driver and go back to the default one! I don't think I'll be mucking around with these types of things again!

Ubuntu :: Reset Force Check Default?

Jun 13, 2010

When I ran 8.04, force check would be run every 23 boots. The ESCAPE key allowed me to skip it that boot and it would again start force check at the next boot. In 10.04, it gave me an option to use the C key to cancel, but it does not attempt force check at subsequent boots. It does not seem to do an automatic check any more.

How can I restore the original 10.04 setting? Or better yet, get it to perform as it did in 8.04

Ubuntu Security :: Enabling A New Profile In AppArmor?

Jun 18, 2011

When I enable a new AppArmor profile that is not in the kernel, I've used this command:

Code:

But when I recently read the manual for AppArmor, it says to use this command for new profiles:

Code:
apparmor_parser -a /path/to/profile

Have I done something wrong by using -r instead of -a?

In principle I would like to pass both interfaces (wireless, umts) through vpn.

Ubuntu Security :: Generic AppArmor Profile For Untrusted Application

Sep 3, 2010

I've read and re-read everything I can find about AppArmor, to no avail. On the whole, AppArmor isn't for me. However, rather than give up on it completely, I have an idea: create a profile that I could use as a template for any untrusted application, with the aim of 1) blocking it from network access and 2) blocking it from installing other applications. I've got as far as creating an empty profile:

Code:
# Generic AppArmor Profile for UntrustedApplication
#include <tunables/global>
/usr/sbin/UntrustedApplication {
#include <abstractions/base> }
What do I need to add to make this profile 100% permissive, except for the two exceptions stated above?

Fedora Networking :: Cisco VPN Connection - How To Force Browser

May 9, 2009

Just wanted to ask a small question... I've set up a VPN connection to my university and i installed and configured everything ok, cause I can connect without any problems...

Now that I'm connected I want my browser to run through the VPN tunnel created by the connection so i can access certain sites that are else inaccessible, but how do i force my browser (I'm using firefox atm) to do that?

When I'm on MAC of Windows OS, as soon as i connect with a VPN, all connection run through them. Fedora seems to ignore the VPN connection and just continues to use my home-network to connect to the internet.

So the basic question is: how do i use the VPN connection.

Iuse FC10, kernel 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686, fully updated system

I would like to restrict a few selected accounts to minimum of 15 characters passwords. Other accounts,however, should still be able to login with 8 character passwords. This is in RHEL 5. Does anyone know how to go about it? I have checked PAM documentation and pam_cracklib.so has an option minlen. As per its documentation, minlen can force users to use 15 characters, but it forces every account on the system. I might be wrong too.
