been searching for days now for a crossword app for Fedora... Im finding it extremely hard to believe that such app doesnt exist? Yet, my searching hasnt yielded anything so far. Is there nothing in the repo?
View 9 RepliesI just passed a friend from Windows to Ubuntu Lucid.Everything fine, but he is a crossword maker addict. Under Windows, he use MS Publisher to make his crossword grids.With Linux, it's more difficult For now,he use OpenOffice Writer, with a big table, but the table is not very regular.I tried to install Scribus, but it's a professionnal PAO software, not a "easy to use" software as MS Publisher (that's a big ****, of course, but easy to use for neophyte)...I also tried to use free software or shareware for windows, but thera are always works with an algorythm crossword generator, when my friend want to place the word where he wants ! That's the goal and his passion !So I'm still looking for a PAO software very easy to use, or specific program (even Windows program with wine, even not free).

I have a file which provide the output of all the applications which started and running successfully. But it doesn't give the Error message of the applications which are failed. For example there are 5 applications (ABC,DEF,NMO,STO,XYZ) and application STO failed so I will get the following output (out.txt). content of out.txt file
Application ABC is Running
Application DEF is Running
Application NMO is Running
Application XYZ is Running
I want to generate the text message based on the information on out.txt that STO application is Failed.
I'm on the Fedora 14. I'm getting troubles. I can't do YUM UPDATE! See the attached image. It's trying to search for mirrors forever. Impossible how awful the performance. What shall I do? My project development has been paused for a moment.

I have the following problem with sendmail on F14 (had the same on F13 already):
I have a network setup using bridging which is controlled through traditional ifup/ifdown (because NetworkManager can't handle bridging). My sendmail configuration differs from the Fedora default only by having a SMART_HOST relay. The queueing interval in /etc/sysconfig/sendmail is the default (1h).
When my network connection is up, sendmail normally sends email through the relay immediately. Sometimes I have to interrupt the connection for a few minutes. When my network connection is down, sendmail starts queueing email (OK this far). When the network connection comes back up, I'd expect sendmail to restart sending mail through the relay again. But sometimes, that doesn't happen. Instead, sendmail keeps queueing my mail infinitely (I have seen it happen for several days) until I finally notice that my email isn't received, and run sendmail -q by hand (by that time, my boss is already angry that I'm not responding to his email). In that state, even new mail is queued rather than forwarded by sendmail. It appears that the only way to stop that behavior is to restart the sendmail service.
I recently installed Fodora 14 on a PC with Asus mainboard.
CPU is AMD LE-1100.
The sound card is Realtek ALC662-GR Azalia High Definition Audio
Unfortunately after installation, there is no sound.
In fedora, System->Preferences->Sound window, Hardware tab is empty.
I tried to install two versions of sound card driver.
One came from the CD of the mainboard called realtek-linux-audiopack-4.06x
First I tried to run the "install", it went through to the final GUI stage searching for the sound card but failed to find.
Then I tried to do a manual install following the readme file.
Basically, unpack->configure->make
but make failed with the following error message

View 2 Replies View RelatedI chose a folder with 1.8 GB for syncing to the ubuntu one server. I have two questions:
1) ubuntuone-syncd has been using 99% cpu (at times) for two days now. Is this normal?
2) the syncing is EXTREMELY slow. I don't have any bandwidth limitations set and there seems to be very little data getting uploaded. Is this normal?
I hope somebody has a solution to this annoying situation: right after restart my system is very fast (at least for me), but after few days it slows down to the point when using it becomes a waste of time. As soon as I restart everything is OK. Usually I keep open 1-2 Open Office files, couple large PDFs, and some Firefox tabs at the same time, nothing special. No gaming/video on this rig, just basic internet and text processing. Here are my specs:

I'm having this kind of experience with myself right now. My SB0570/CA0106 setup that has worked in lots of Suse releases stopped working. It is silent. I dualboot with windows 7 and there the sound works IF I turn off the computer so that the soundcard can reset itself after using OpenSuse. Otherwise, Windows is silent too.
I installed the glibc pathes for 11.3. I have downgraded them and rebooted: No change so that's probably not it. Otherwise no changes where made to that OS that I'm aware of. I ran alsa-info and uploaded it here : [URL].
I have tried speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav
No error messages and no sound. I have tried it from the console without kde so that is not it. What would be the best way to completely reset sound configuration and start over? I had sound working on 11.3 two days ago.
I have a script that moves files after 60 days from the FTP folder over to a trash folder which is not accessible by the FTP. From there I can delete the files whenever the drive get's full. That works fine so far.
The only thing that bothers me is that files moved to ".Trash" are not in any folder structure anymore (one big directory with the deleted files in it).
When I do a "ls -la" on the array {} I see the file names including the folders. I'm not sure if the find command or the mv command forgets about the directories.
This is the script: bash -c 'date;find /Volumes/data1/test/ -mtime +60 -type f -exec mv {} /Volumes/data1/.Trash/ ;;date' >> ~/mylog
I turned on my computer today (running Ubuntu 10.10) and it will go to the login screen where it shows the time at the bottom right and the restart and shutdown button, and also my computer name in the middle of the screen but it does not show my account name. My mouse and keyboard work fine there is just know where to login at. I'm still pretty new to ubuntu so I'm not to sure where to begin.

I'm not running any new or odd programs just Firefox, Openofice writer, and Pidgin. When I turn the computer back on I do not see any kind of an error message. I'm looking for any advice that will help me find the cause of the problem.
