Jan 7, 2011So I want to be able to listen to sound coming in on the line in port. The sound does work as I have tested with Gnome sound recorder. However, I would like to be able to hear it all the time. I don't want to have to record to be able to hear it. Is there a way to mix the line input sound with the normal system sounds? This is so I can run sound from my Xbox 360 into my computer. I currently use a audio splitter but I get problems with volume levels due to voltage changes going to the speakers.

Oct 27, 2009I am trying to get my own email server set up, and so far its been going pretty smooth, The only thing that is not working right now is receiving emails. I can send email just fine, and when they are sent they are even sent from the proper addresses, but when I try to send an email to my domain, it does not go through.
I have the port forwards set up on my router to send all traffic on port 25 over to my mail server, I can telnet to the smtp server from the localhost just fine, but when I try to telnet from another computer on my network it gives me this message

Nov 28, 2009I just upgraded to Fedora 12 and I am now having some sound issues. On Fedora 11 if I set my volume below about 45% I couldn't hear anything. However 45% gave me a comfortable listening level. Now if I set my volume below about 20% I cannot hear anything, however 20% is very loud. And by loud I mean approximately equivalent to 80% under Fedora 11.

Jan 17, 2010Currently Im having a syslog server that consolidate firewall logs on port 514 udp. Im also having a IDS device that I wish to push its logs to this particular syslog server so that I can retrieve my IDS logs on this server as well.
Is it possible to do so?Having syslog listening on port 514 for both firewall and IDS logs? If it is possible will the logs be recorded in a single log file?Or will it be recorded in a separate log file ie. firewall.log, IDS.log etc?? I wish to have them in separate individual log files or else there will be hard time segregating the log entries in a single file. Can anyone advice on how to achieve this??
Fedora Networking :: Tool To Create Multiple Listening Servers On TCP And UDP Ports
Jan 17, 2011Looking for a test tool where I can fire up any number of ports (TCP and / or UDP) to listen on.
I am currently getting my using nc but its only 1 port at a time (i know I can open up multiple sessions but thats cumbersome), it can't do UDP, and it closes at the end of the session.
A friend has suggested socat but it looks pretty much the same except it can do UDP, but also cumbersome, I have to manually output to a different file per port, etc.
Basically its so I can quickly test firewall and NAT rules.

I downloaded it in rpm format but when in tried to install it I got a message that I needed to install two more packages (nss-mdsn and wine-common). I installed nss-mdsn but when I tried to install wine-common I got a message that I have to install wine core for it and when I tried to install wine-core. I got a message to install wine-common first and I tried to install both of them at the same time but still it didn't work. I cant install it online with yum because of a few other problems.

Jul 2, 2010I just got fedora 13 today and put it on a slightly older computer to mess around with it, and two things I realized.
1. I installed Flash player through a program called easyLiving, but when i play flash games online like on armorgames, everything will play fine, but sound will play about 2 seconds late with actions.
2. I can't play .wmv files from my MP3 player, I found some codes online and installed them, but now it just looks like I have 3 different audio players in mozilla and I'm not sure which kind to enable, and I still can't play .wmv movies. (I actually believe that problem 1 is unrelated, because I noticed it before I started downloading different audio players.)

Jan 28, 2010I just installed Fedora 12 on my HP a430n PC.I used to run Fedora 10, then moved to Linux Mint 7, then to Ubuntu 9.10 and now I am back to Fedora because I want to become more adept with manual package installation and adding repos.When I ran Fedora 12 immediately after then install, before running yum update PackageKit or the software update, it would use my wireless adapter (Netgear WG111v2) and connect to and stay connected to a network just fine. No hiccups.After running the updates and restarting the computer, the wlan won't stay connected for longer than 20 seconds, which is frustrating when trying to install mp3 codecs.
This seems to be a bug in the latest driver update for the WG111v2, but I might be wrong. Anyone have a fix or a way to revert back to the initial driver (I don't know what the original wireless driver was called).

Apr 27, 2011I have the following problem with sendmail on F14 (had the same on F13 already):
I have a network setup using bridging which is controlled through traditional ifup/ifdown (because NetworkManager can't handle bridging). My sendmail configuration differs from the Fedora default only by having a SMART_HOST relay. The queueing interval in /etc/sysconfig/sendmail is the default (1h).
When my network connection is up, sendmail normally sends email through the relay immediately. Sometimes I have to interrupt the connection for a few minutes. When my network connection is down, sendmail starts queueing email (OK this far). When the network connection comes back up, I'd expect sendmail to restart sending mail through the relay again. But sometimes, that doesn't happen. Instead, sendmail keeps queueing my mail infinitely (I have seen it happen for several days) until I finally notice that my email isn't received, and run sendmail -q by hand (by that time, my boss is already angry that I'm not responding to his email). In that state, even new mail is queued rather than forwarded by sendmail. It appears that the only way to stop that behavior is to restart the sendmail service.
