View 6 RepliesI've been trying aMSN and Kopete with MSN Live, but the video doesn't work. I stumbled upon a reference to telepathy and installed everything for F14 that yum could find (yum list telepathy*), including papyon. I can launch Empathy, and I can initiate and receive text conversations. But, I can't do video. When I try "Chat -> new call" along with "enable video" I just keep hearing ringback tone in the headphones until it times out, and the windows messenger on the other PC never shows an incoming call/message (I've got my XP netbook next to my fedora box and I'm using 2 different accounts/email addresses). I saw a reference to something called Butterfly in a post somewhere, but even though I installed it I can't seem to locate it anywhere in the menus (both KDE and Gnome - I tried both). I haven't a clue what to try next.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open empathy, I am seeing that message. The messenger itself doesn't have a problem (as far as I can see), but that message really bothers me.

I can't change my screen resolution but my fedora doesn't have system-config-display. Trying to install this package and for some reason it is not listed under the add/remove software, and yum says it can't find it either.
# yum install -y system-config-display
results
No package system-config-display available.
Error: Nothing to do
Searching in the add/remove software I found some others such as system-config-firewall, system-config-date and etc but it doesn't have system-config-display. I did the UPGRADE from Karmic Koala to Lucid, and everything was going well. But now I've been having problems with the UBUNTU UPDATE tool for the last 2 weeks. Every time I try to do an update check on the packages, I get the following message:Failed to fetch http:[url]....Release Unable to find expected entry deb-src/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.I've tried changing the servers to MAIN and others, and still no way to solve it. I've also checked for other posts, but haven't found a solution yet. Here's my SOURCES LIST (gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list)# See http:[url].... for how to upgrade to # newer versions of the distribution.

View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to find the latest modified directory. I know that the command 'ls -rtl' gives the latest modified file/directory at the end. But my specific requirement is: If I create two directories named dir1, dir2 in the same order. so now my latest modified directory is "dir2". Now inside each directories, I created a file. Now in the last, I modify the file in "dir1". So overall, the content of dir1 got modified recently. If I use the command 'ls -rtl', this will still show dir2 as latest, as it is created recently. But I want the directory in which any internal content at any sub-hierarchy modified recently. so with what linux command I'll get this latest modified directory (dir1)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to write a script. I have the basic form working... but I would like to add some advanced features. I have a list of .zip files that have a version number in the filename (i.e. sudoku-134.zip, sudoku-176.zip, sudoku-203.zip, etc). I would like to have a script that will find the latest version of each game, and unzip it. I want the next to latest version left untouched. But anything older, I would like the unzipped folder deleted (But leave the .zip file)
Here's what I have so far:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
cd /var/www/vhosts/server.com/httpsdocs/games/$1
for file in `ls *.zip`; do
if [ -d ${file%.*} ]; then
echo
else
mkdir ${file%.*}
cd ${file%.*}
unzip ../$file > /dev/null
cd ..
echo 'date' $file >> /var/www/vhosts/games4roku.com/private/$1.log
fi
done
I can call the script with "game-unzip public" to unzip all the public games.
Here's my files:
Code:
sudoku-134.zip
sudoku-134/
sudoku-176.zip
sudoku-176/
When I add the latest version, sudoku-203.zip, I want it to unzip it to ./sudoku-203/ and rm -rf sudoku-134

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from F13 to F14 using "preupgrade". This is the first time I've used preupgrade. So far, F14 is running OK. There are some leftovers from F13 and I'm wondering if this is correct.
Q1: There are 176 F13 packages remaining. [alfrugal@localhost Documents]$ rpm -qa | grep fc13 | wc -l 176 Is this OK? FWIW, after the upgrade, I ran "package-cleanup --orphans" as recommended by the "preupgrade" page on the Fedora Project wiki.
Q2: Also, my GRUB menu was correctly updated for F14, but it still contains the three entries it had for F13. Is it normal for the preupgrade process to require the user to clean up the obsolete entries from the GRUB menu?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to use a package manager to generate a list of all installed packages that are not depended on by any other installed package. That is to say, a list of installed packages that are not required by any other installed package. I believe these are referred to as packages with 0 forward dependencies. I believe they are also called "leaves."
I am on Red Hat, so a method of doing this with rpm, yum or smart would be optimal. I discovered the package-cleanup program that is a part of yum-utils. According to package-cleanup's man page, the option --leaves will "list leaf nodes in the local RPM database. Leaf nodes are RPMs that are not relied upon by any other RPM." I thought this would do what I wanted, but it seems to do a poor job. It listed only two packages. While those two packages are indeed required by nothing else, I am sure there are many more than two on my system. (For example, it did not list firefox)
I have a short question. I want to find out which packages are depending on some package. For example, I want to know which packages are depending on evolution.Is there any possibility how to find it out?
