I have fedora 11 installed on my laptop and I have
no Internet connection in my Fedora. My Internet
connection is in Win XP.
Therefore I am searching for the packages of Fedora
on DVD so whenever I need them I can copy them from
DVD instead of retrieving from Internet?
I would be grateful if any one could help me in this matter.

1 ) I have accidently installed RHEL5.2 in a lap which was already having Fedora14. Now the fedora grub is missing and i am unable to boot into fedora. also there is no Rescue option in fedora 14 live CD, it only have Boot, Basic video, Memory test but no rescue mode. so pls tell me how to get into Rescue mode and solve this problem
2 ) How to find in which partition it is installed eg do i have type (hd0,0) or (hd0,xx), i have on hard disk so the H.D.D number will be hd0 but what about the partition . how to find it.

My system downloads the upgrade just fine but when it starts to perform the it asks for the location of the new Fedora 14 ISO and I have no idea where that is or what to enter as a possible location which I have no doubt is in the default area.

shows me the workstation and the gateway(192.168.0.1)
My workstation has 2 interfaces: eth0 and eth1. both are checked in the "trusted interfaces" section of system-config-firewall. Network is currently connected to eth1. If I run the same nmap command from my laptop (also fedora), it outputs everything on the network but my workstation. The strange thing is that the workstation has functioning internet connection.
This is my Keyboard layout (Norwegian layout on a US keyboard on a HP Mini 1000), but I just can't find the combination to hit when I need to pipe (> <) things.
Can anyone help me find the combination so I can use my netbook for more than just simple browsing?

I am trying to do a find/grep/wc command to find matching files, print the filename and then the word count of a specific pattern per file. Here is my best (non-working) attempt so far:
wc `find . ( -name "*.as" -o -name "*.mxml" ) -exec grep -H HeightResizableList {}` ;
Is there a way to specify to find that I only want text files (and not binary files)? Grep has an option to exclude binary files, so I thought find probably has a similar feature, but I've been unable to find it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGoing from Fedora 12 to 13. Got to the point where I have to reboot to install, system reboots to 12. This is a triple boot system with Open Suse and Mint, and the grub2 bootloader from Mint is the bootloader for the whole shebang. In the "how to use preupgrade" instructions there's a line that says "dentify the drive and partition of your Fedora /boot folder." How? If that sounds odd, consider that in my set up "computer" shows 4 partitions (and with just three operating systems..?). I can mount them, but have a problem telling which sytem is Fedora, Suse or Mint. And getting the FEDORA bootloader to find the PREUPGRADE kernel ... Momma said there'd be days like this.
cat /etc/fstab just returned /dev/sda1 on /boot. I installed Fedora first, before Suse or Mint, so being on the first drive or partition sounds right, but the multiple drives throws me, and "just guessing" doesn't seem like the way to go.
After upgrading to a new release (Fedora 12, for example), I can no longer reach most of the Web through my browser (Firefox) or mail client (Thunderbird). I've tried running a Live! installation, installing clean from a DVD, and running preupgrade from my working Fedora 10 system, always with the same result -- I can reach a few of the Fedora pages (main, documentation, some others), but nothing else (Google, for example).
What's maddening is that I know I have a good connection, because I can perform a software update, install new software, etc., but only strictly Fedora-related activities; also, I can ping www.google.com and get a good response, so I know the DNS services are working to some extent. But neither Firefox nor Thunderbird can use them in any useful way.

Specifically Mysql and Mysqli appear not to have been compiled into php despite using the prefix "--with-ysqli=/user/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config".Or can I place the needed call to mysql extension in the php.d and download the .so file adding it to the proper direectory?If I must reinstall, where on the PHP.NET site does it address reinstall? I've tried installing nvidia's devdriver but I keep getting an error stating the kernel.h file isn't available. I've tried searching for it on my computer but haven't found it and haven't found a copy of it using google either.
