i don't have audio drivers,video drivers.Where can i get them.?.How do i install them.?
I have a new dell inspiron 1545 since i am facing problems with vista i wanted to work with linux operating system (fedora 9). I want to install the video drivers and sound drivers for my laptop..When i installed fedora 9 my screen resolution was 1366x768 but suddenly now my resolution is 1024x768. I tried to change the resolution but I am unable to find my laptop resolution. What could be the problem

i installed Fedora 12 on an external hard drive. Everything went fine with the installation and it was working perfectly until i tried to install my video card drivers. I have done this many times before and it has worked. I have an ATI card. Anyway after installing the driver i rebooted and now when it starts it show the loading bar on the bottom but then nothing happens its just a black screen!. The worst part is that when i go into windows and my external is plugged in windows wont read it and i have very valuable data on it. I go into disk management and it shows up but windows says that its empty. which is obviously not true because Fedora starts to boot. I really just want Fedora off my external and for windows to read my external with all the files still on it. Is there a way to get by that blank screen?

im a little familiar with opensuse..but when i formatted my pc after the installation of opensuse i realized i missed all the audio and video codecs...now i cant even listen to mp3s let alone watching videos.i remember there was a forum post explaining how to install all the audio and video -well mostly- codecs..could you explain how i can install audio and video codecs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed 11.04 and I knew I would have to install the NVidia video drivers. So it was no surprise when it popped up a warning and dropped me into Gnome Classic view. So I turned on the NVidia drivers and rebooted. In my desktop selection menu on the login screen I have "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu Classic".
Unfortunately they look exactly alike, with the Gnome panel along the top, and the panel with the taskbar, desktops and recylce bin on the bottom. I've gone back-and-forth a few times and nothing has changed. Some changes in one environment is not set in the other, like they really are 2 different environments.
According to the Software Center, Unity (not Unity 2D) *is* installed.So how can I boot into the Unity desktop?

Running GNU/kFreeBSD debian 8.1-1-amd64 and base system working. Can not get X or xrandr to co-operate and use proper resolution of 1680x1050. I believe the basis of this is that it using the VESA drivers and instead should be using the INTEL drivers.
I have no 'pkg_add' for ports, plus obviously no Debian repos will help for this .... unless there are some specific kFreeBSD repos I dont know about? I can post more details on the system, but am hoping that there are other options besides compiling. I can do that if need be, but not even sure which one to use. Will these work on this system? I recently installed Fedora 13 in my laptop, installed the audio codecs(mp3..and etc) and worked just like a dream. But every time I try to play a mpeg, avi, mov file in a player (vlc, xine, mplayer) I get no video, just a black screen. But I get the audio from the video.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter having a lot of trouble with vista and no chance of getting Windows 7 anytime soon, I decided to get Ubuntu and use dual booting with vista. I had recently installed it about two days ago and for the most part it worked pretty well. That is until I installed the driver for my video card, an ATI Radeon HD2600 pro, then things went down hill for me. Every time I try and boot Ubuntu it now goes to a black screen after the logo comes up and i am unable to do anything. I have tried to look up some solutions, but I am still relatively new to programing and some of this stuff seems a bit complicated for me. Is there a simple solution to this that does not require a reinstall?

I have dell inspiron-1545 laptop.I installed rhel5(downloaded from torrent for free),kernel (2.6.18-8el5xen).i got a driver cd from dell containing rhel drivers for audio,video,network.i tried to install those drivers but could not.it asked for dkms 2.0 which i installed.but even now also some errors are coming(like dependencies missing etc.).so no internet ,no sound,no video on my laptop.

When i boot every process come OK except(cpu micromodule failed.fatal error and hub port status failed). i think these cards have not been detected.
I just updated Fedora 11. Kernel got updated to 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.i686.PAE. But during boot it says that nvidia drivers couldn't be enabled. It works perfectly well in the lower kernel versions. Am I the only one facing the problem? I've nVidia Corporation C51 [Geforce 6150 Go] (rev a2) in my laptop.
