Fedora Networking :: HP Mini 110 Broadcom Wireless - Can't Get The Card To Turn On Using The Slide Switch

I have an HP mini 110 with Fedora 11 install. I installed the broadcom-wl and wl-kmod from yum but still no wireless. First I can't get the broadcom card to turn on using the slide switch on the front of the computer. The device is inactive in the network configuration-devices window. The card is not in the network configuration hardware window. When I try to add it manually, there is no entry for the card in the drop down list. I am new to Fedora but have used linux for years. Unfortunately this is my first attempt at wireless networking.
The posts and google stuff doesn't say much more than "yum install broadcom-wl" Can anyone point me into the right direction? I have a feeling I am missing something very simple, because this computer dual boots Linux Mint and wireless works flawlessly.
Is there a command to turn off my Broadcom wireless card to save power. In Apple, the have an Airport off listing under the airport menu, Is there something for Fedora?
dell laptop and went out on thenet looking for a solution for my failed wireless interface. i downloaded the firmware but then my interface still fails to come on after a reboot.
Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.
I installed Ubuntu Netbook on my windows xp machine, a HP Mini 110 with a broadcom wireless card, I installed using Wubi. The wireless on the ubuntu side isn't working and I can't plug into a physical line, how do I fix this?
I chose to change my operating system from Microsoft Xp to Linux and finally chose Fedora to be my new OS.
After Fedora installation I got a problem that I cannot connect to my wireless network I used to using Xp, I think that my wireless card is not installed on Fedora because when I checked in the network configuration I found that the only installed adapter is the Ethernet Realtek for the wired connection.
My OS is Fedora 11.
The CPU Model name is : Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 GHz, so I think that my architecture is x86_64.
My Network controller is : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g
So I just loaded ubuntu 10.10....and it works great...except for my wirelessi've got a broadcom b43 ...i went into system, administration, download additional drivers and downloaded/authenticated a b43 driver, but my machine (hp dv4405) does not recognize any wireless signals. The wireless light on my computer doesnt turn on (there's a button to turn it on and off) anyways...it's annoying. I guess broadcom recently released some open source drivers, but I'm having trouble sorting through all the info
I have a Samsung N310 with a atheros wireless card. Been having trouble getting it to work. I was thinking about upgrading to a N card anyway so I will be buying one tonight. Does anyone know of a Mini PCI N card that works out of the box with ubuntu 64bit?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop using Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-card (This is what Windows Vista says I have). I have installed Ubuntu as dual boot with existing Windows Vista. Wireless is not working in Ubuntu but working flawlessly in Windows.

I have an HP Compaq 6735s with a Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g draft-n wireless card that I've been running 9.10 (the karmic koala one I think it was called) on for the past 7 or 8 months (been running Ubuntu in general for the last couple years). The card won't turn on--the indicator light is always orange, not blue as it should be. I thought it might be a hardware problem so I took it to a shop, but they tested it several times and said the card was fine and that upgrading my software should solve the problem.
I just upgraded it to the 10.10 distro (usually a friend did my upgrades for me but alas that's no longer an option) but that has not fixed it. I thought to try and re-download the Broadcom drivers on a different computer, then transfer them to my laptop, but when I did that and tried to open the .exe file, a message popped up saying the file was no good. (Can you tell I'm not a computer pro yet? Haha) Any idea how I could fix this or what the problem might be? I'm really frustrated as it's been an issue for the last six months, plus this is my only computer and I need it to function fully for purposes of finding a job, etc. If I could I'd just buy a different computer at this point (really disappointed with HP laptops in general) but sadly that's not an option. I'm to the point where I'd consider running Windows again just to make the damn thing work.
My wireless works perfectly with my university networks. But I have problem connecting to my house router. The first time I installed Ubuntu 10.10, it connected to internet and worked well. After a restart needed by nVidia driver, my house wireless stopped working while my university wireless still works. I'm new to Ubuntu. Today, I took my old Compaq Presario V3010US and gave it life with Ubuntu 10.04. The hard drive was erased and replaced with the Linux OS stuff. Ubuntu recognizes most of the hardware except my Broadcom wireless card. I find this to be a pain because i'm a newbie to linux stuff. Anyway, can anyone help me fix this? Inspiron 1525 - Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card I passed two days browsing the net looking for a solution to my problem but no way.. Im running ubuntu 10.10 in my inspiron via VirtualBox and my wireless card is not detected by ubuntu.. I just installed 9.10 and I can't detect any wireless networks. Is the card compatible with 9.10? Do I need to install any drivers? If the card isn't compatible with 9.10 is it compatible with later versions of Ubuntu? Marking this as somewhat urgent as I need to get internet access for some coursework soon, and also because my parents will kill me if they find out I've done anything unusual with the laptop because it's new and they think anything non -MS is a virus.
I'm thinking of installing Fedora 14 on my hp laptop, and need to know if this will support the Broadcom 4322AG wireless card it came with, will only probably use Fedora if the card is already recognized, or an easy gui install. This is the game changer between using fedora or linux mint for me
I have a hp zd7249cl laptop and have installed ubuntu 10.10 on it. The main problem I am having at the time is the wireless button will not turn on so there for I have no internet access. The switch works fine in windows, but not in ubuntu. The switch didn't work with the live cd either, but I thought it might after install. The wired card that is in the laptop is no good and quit working a couple of years ago so all I have is wireless now.
I have a DEll Mini 9 - it has worked fine even though it has a limited memory. But Husband only uses to have a surf. It now wont connect to net. The Broadcom4312 Wireless Card is not working on Obunto. It has a Dell 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini card installed and Obunto Edition Version 8.04 Have phoned Dell and after several calls on Hold for over 15 mins each time and getting nowhere fast i am coming to you guys/girls. I just installed Lucid Lynx on my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop. The problem I'm having is that my wired network card has died on me prior to installation. I'm having the hardest time finding the required files to make my Broadcom BCM4311 wireless card work without being able to download any packages from the web. I've decided I want to cross over to Ubuntu from Win vista but there's one thing i cant get working. My wireless card. My wireless card is a Xterasys xn 2523g I can't make this switch until i have the internet working.
I recently switched from windows xp to ubuntu and have been very impressed so far. However, I've run into a bit of a problem. My laptop has a switch on the side that enables or disables the wireless card and every now and again its inevitable that someone accidentally switches it off. I recently installed Ubuntu x64 on my dell studio 1535 using the windows installer (wubi).
All seems to be working fine apart from the built in wireless card, the proprietary driver (found in hardware drivers) installs and activates successfully and works perfectly. Until I shut down or restart the system. On the next boot the wireless card is 'disabled' and no longer works.
The card I have is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g
I am going to try a proper install on a second partition rather than using wubi later on but wondered if this was a commonly occuring problem?
The wireless card works as soon as the driver installs, however I am shown a "restart to activate driver" message and after restarting it's dead.
My wireless device is an integrated Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, I am unsure about the driver I have in use. I am sure I have a driver installed because the configuration screen shows my network. I currently have the computer plugged into my network via CAT 5 but I would like to be able to use the wireless (obviously.) I am using Open SuSE version 11.2 and I have run the updater. I could not see my wireless network before running the updater and I can now so I know that the updates have helped but I am again stuck. I have tried to search the wireless forum and I have tried to tinker with the settings in YaST , but nothing seems to be working. I have read and taken to heart the advice given for receiving help and if any more is needed I will gladly give it. I have a small amount of experience with SuSE Enterprise edition so I can understand some technical stuff but I am best at following specific instructions.
I own a Dell Mini 10v netbook, I love the little thing, except I hate the Broadcom wireless card, I would much rather have a card that can use open source drivers. I have been searching on Google, looking on forums and looking on the hardware sites, but I cannot find a replacement card.
The problem is the tiny Dell has a tiny place to put the card and according to Dell and Broadcom, it is a "halfcard", which I have no idea what that is.
my wireless home network is not recognized by my network card (RealTek RTL8190 mini PCI). The post was as follows: "I am using a new computer with Windows 7 , Athlon quad core 2.60 64 bit, 8GB RAM. Internet conection works fine with ethernet but ubuntu does not see my wireless network. card (RealTek RTL 8190 ID: 10ec:8190). Have searched this forum but unable to come up with a fix. I was looking for windows XP drivers to use Ndiswrapper but could not find a list of .inf files. My network is OK and works perfectly in windows and with my 2 laptops. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Additional info: install was done within Windows using WUBI to a separate partition on my HDD. I am new to this and thouroughly confused as to the procedure for installing the drivers if they are in fact available."
I am very frustrated in that I would like to use Ubuntu 10.04 but it is useless without internet connectability. I am new to linux and do not understand where to get the appropriate drivers or how to install them. I wish someone would answer this post and either give me a clue what to do or just say "give up" and uninstall ubunutu.
From what I understand, this problem can be solved easily but you have to insert the install disc into /cdrom/, but I'm on an HP Mini 110 netbook and obviously don't have a cdrom drive. Is there some way I could redirect it to my usb or something? It doesn't seem to present the option. Every other release works with my wireless, but this is the only one that works with my sound lol so I'm damned either way. I still use 9.10 sometimes because I love it but I have to hook it up to an ethernet connection and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a netbook
