Anyways, to my question. Recently when I have been clicking right click an image of what I clicked has appeared that will not go away. I have an example here:Logging out helps until I right-click again.

when i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.
Is it possible to set up Ubuntu 10.10 where one click will open a document as opposed to double clicking?

Although I work primarily in my browser (Google Chrome), it does happen outside as well. I am running Gnome as the window manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, so bear with me for the lack of detail, its 3:46am and I'm really a beginner at this. So here is my issue: I decided I wanted to try Linux, so i got a Disc Image of Opensuse 11.3. while burning this disc image to a DVD-R I had no issues. But after the Validation was done an error appeared stating the disc Image was not burnt due to some error (apologies for not paying too close attention here) although the entire burn completed without issue. So I closed it and figured I would try again with another Disk when i get one.
Well as it turns out I did burn the Disc Image, and decided to try the Install. I have previously installed Ubuntu a few times and figured it was just as easy.. so I restarted my computer and booted from the CD. went through the Installation up to the Partition part.. This kind of confused me at first but I eventually got that it wanted to shrink my existing windows partition in order to make room. so i went along with it and began the install. well about halfway through the installation error messages kept showing telling me there were missing Packs. after about 10 messages I aborted the install for fear of what would happen now i have a shrunken partition and i dont know how to fix or what to do. I would still like to install opensuse but i dont have anymore DVD-R's and my Flash drive is too small. I will try to provide any info i can upon request. Oh, I forgot to mention im Running windows 7. if that helps at all which I doubt it does. I can safely access windows, nothing happened to the information on my drive. Im just missing 50GB of space now.
There are 5 copies of the same images are placed in a folder i.e. large(1024*768),medium(500*375),small(240*180),thu mnail(75*75),square(100*50) in size....
The following code upload number of Geocoded images(square size) when the page loads.I want when someone click on the any Geocoded image on the page ,it should show the large image(1024*768) of the same.And further click on the large image it must show again the square size image of the same.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use ubuntu 10.10 Last night when I use my laptop I hangs and when I shut it down the last thing I see is there's a not responding app called at-spi register (or at-sys or something I don't really remember) and the next time I log in to my account there's only login sound heard and the wallpaper I set before, and the mouse cursor. There's nothing else. No nautilus, no panels, nothing. Nothing happened when I press alt-f2, ctrl alt L, etc. There's even nothing happened when I press the power button (unless if I press it a long time it will shut down). the only thing I can do (that I know) is press ctrl-alt f1 & ctrl-alt-f7 to change to tty. And only through tty and recovery mode I can access my account. I decide to create new account using adduser and I can login into the new account successfully. but then again in my new account I can't access all the data from my original account. and I can't use root or sudo command in my new account.
I've tried to reset gnome and nautilus using rm -rf but apparently nothing appeared but login sound, wallpaper (that change to default ubuntu maverick wallpaper), and a mouse cursor that can't do anything.
i dont have floppy drive. i was shocked when i saw that i have.it started when i installed ubuntu and kubuntu..it also appears n my Windows 7 OS.

Edit: Upon upgdating and restarting it's gone.
A new directory (Desktop with uppercase D) appeared in my /home/mark dir and my icons disappeared. Upon further looking, I see there are 2 directory's in my home, one called desktop (all lower case,) the other is Desktop with uppercase D. I copied the stuff from desktop to Desktop and my icons are back. Where is this information kept so I can fix it back. I guess I need to tell Linux to use desktop, but I don't know where that is.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAbout 2 weeks ago i installed ubuntu 10.10 and downloaded fresh network drivers. I ran autorun.sh, the module was compiled and installed, i could see it with lsmod. But after rebooting the old module appeared again, but no file for him were in modules directory because autorun.sh removed old module file. Some time passed and I figured out that it is initrd who is guilty. I couldn't check it because i already deleted ubuntu and installed Fedora 14 Beta. Today i tried to repeat my steps and installed new network module on Fedora. But when i rebooted and started again i was surprised - new module works instead my old one. Everything is fine So, my question, does Fedora use initrd? I saw some files in /boot that which are initrd files (as i think). Or may be not every fedora system uses initrd or something else?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have received an ACER Aspire 7720 with Vista and I am trying to install F14. Really I installed it but, when restarting, there were some troubles:
1. Grub did not appeared.
2. Vista decided to loop on start and I could not boot it nor in fail safe mode.So I recovered Vista with an recovery disk, but now I only can start in Vista from HD.
Now I am using a f14 Live CD in order to apply some solutions I have read in the tags but the partitions of Fedora do not appear with fdisk, although I can access them from Live.
I'm newish to the forum, but have been using ubuntu for the past few months.I recently upgraded from eeebuntu (a 9.04 derivative) to 10.04, and found that two finger tapping my touchpad has gone from middle click to right click, (and 3 fingers is now middle instead of right).
From what I've seen, this has been changed since 9.10, but I haven't been able to find a permanent solution yet. Most fixes have been from before and use hal, or other things that don't exist anymore. The one thing I've found does work is using xinput and the command

But that has to be run every time I start up, and it occasionally reverts while I'm using the computer. I've tried making a script that runs at startup, but neither adding it to the list of startup programs, or autostart folder has worked, but running the script file manually does work. I'm a bit at wits end with this, it's the only issue I've had with 10.04, and I've spent many many hours trying to get it to work (I've also tried gsynaptics and the newer version whose name escapes me right now). Hopefully there's a permanent fix out there.
[URL] I used testdisk as the replies suggested recovered all my linux partition including my 2 linux distros and boot partitions, but now my windows 7 appeared as unallocated space, which is very ironic, I fixed my last problem only to have situation reversed. I recovered the mbr record from my boot partition, but because that record dose not include the ntfs partition, that partition appears as unallocated space. so how can I make that ntfs partition recognized again so I can update grub and boot to my windows 7 partition? Please help me out, I have had this partition stuck in my computer for a while doing nothing...
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0
mouse menu different in 10.10, is there a way to make the mouse single click instead of double click?

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. After I adjust my slackware and rebooted I saw a strange "rectangle" on my desktop. Please, look at the screenshots below and tell me how I should solve this problem.
I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.
I've recently installed Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool (NACT), because I was interested in adding some more entries in my right click context menu. I've downloaded and installed successfully several nautilus actions. However, I'd like to add a script in the right-clicked menu. I know that the easiest way is to put the script in the " ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts" directory, but I'd like to add it through NACT, because NACT can set script to appear only for certain type of file (for example only for folders). Also, through NACT I can add icon for the action, so that I can distinguish the action quickly.
The script is called "open file location" (download link: [URL]... The main problem is that I don't know which parameters to add, so that the command functions correctly. Can anybody make it function? I use Ubuntu 10.04 and NACT 2.30.2
