I am trying to install the somewhat quite popular theme QTCurve, so I can use it as a base theme for the theme black pearl, which I am really into. However, being usually highly skilled in computer knowledge, I can find the proper way/area to place a new theme, I just know it might be under a folder in the root sector containing themes for kde and will be there upon restart.
I'm trying to install new themes on ubuntu but it tells me that GTK + themes 'ubuntulooks'is not installed and won't load up the themes as it should. I went to package manager and installed it but still doesn't work. Themes to be installed, either overglossed or sickness-black. environment ubuntu 10.04.
I backed everything up and did a complete re-install of the system to 10.10. I had a widget layer with compiz before I did this and now it is not even an option in the preferences. Am I missing something?
I was running 10.10 before as well and it was there.
I'm confused while trying to fix controls styles (tabs, buttons, scrollbars, main menus, popup menus) of my 3dparty applications in KDE. The problem reflected in the fact that all controls of non-KDE applications (Firefox, Zend Studio, Gimp,..) have Gnome styles. But setted widget style is "Oxygen".I assume that this problem has appeared after installing new fonts in my system.
I am using Debian 6.0 Sid (aptosid) with KDE 4.5.x and would like to install the official Debian Squeeze KDM theme, wallpaper etc, into my system.
I think the theme is called Orbit Fun? I came to this forum instead of aptosid's forum to learn how to install KDM themes the Debian way using a terminal and not the KDE-Look download way. KDE-Look does not have the official Squeeze theme at this time, and I generally do not like the aptosid artwork, but I really like sid.
I am running Lucid Lynx 10.04 32bit & I have installed Avant Window Navigator 0.4.0I am having a hard time installing themes for Avant Window Navigator 0.4.0I have these themes downloaded & they worked on 9.10 Karmic Koala 32bit The themes are QV_Glass_3D.tgz & QV_Invisible.tgz Yes I extracted them & then I opened Avant Window Navigator 0.4.0 & went to the themes tab & then clicked the install button & nothing happed when I browsed for the themes. I saw the .tgz & also the folder but no luck with getting the themes to work.
I don't mean that it prevents me from using it, on the contrary, it changes all of the text boxes to the same color, making it hard if it's not a conflicting color. I want to install dark themes such as Cobra and Aero-ion but they conflict with Firefox, and I don't want to use Chromium. Do I have to stick with basic and default themes if I want to customize or switch to Google Chromium? Can someone point out a website that, well, has ones compatible with Firefox 4?
I am really having a tough time in installing emerald themes. I have installed emerald theme manager and have done all the required processes but I dont know what to do after I import it to theme manager?
I'm running KDE on Fedora 13 and was trying to alter some display settings so that the windows wouldn't maximize when dragged to the edge of the screen. I did that, but at one point "Kwin" crashed, and now there's some odd things happening.
1. I get the "drag me" palm when I'm mousing over the desktop and if I click, I can drag the background around as if it were a window.
2. My "maximize" "minimize" and "close" buttons don't work.
3. It appears nothing in the titlebar of windows works: can't drag them, can't shade or do anything "clickable" -- close, min, max, nothing works.
I tried returning the settings to their original state but it didn't help.I tried restarting the computer too, and that didn't help. I'm guessing something crashed and a setting got hard set that shouldn't be. I'm also guessing that if I rename a .kde/something folder it will reset to defaults. What .kde folder should I play with?
I would like to install a new icon theme without effecting my currently selected panel theme, as i think the Ambience panel theme looks really nice and unified but im not too keen on the Ubuntu-Mono icons. Is this easily possible, without going into my icon folders and replacing all the instances of one style for another? Are there any applications for gnome icon theming like OS X's Candybar?Im sure others must desire to change only the icons and perhaps it is really easy and this is why i couldnt dig anythin up on google, that or im a useless googler.
On Fedora 14 KDE 64 there is no show desktop widget enabled by default, listed as available widgets, or listed in get hot new stuff as being available for download. How can I enable this basic functionality?
i had just installed fedora 12 and my architecture is x86_64. i add dictionary widget on my plasma desktop. in my office i am using internet via proxy. now how can i configure dictionary widget to use the same proxy settings? in my shell i have export http_proxy variables, where else i am suppose to set proxy?
Since of late "Appearance preference" behaves awkwardly . Normaly It is supposed to show themes in /usr/share/themes right? but now it shows themes only in ~/.themes folder. I don't know what affected the change. how do I configure it as to show themes in /usr/share/themes/,?
Also whatever theme I use , Controls would stay same(Classic controls). They wouldn't be update to those of the Theme used.
I have installed Audacious and audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3 on F15. MP3 support now works (i.e.: mp3 files are being played) but audacious does not show me the scroll bar/widget with which I can move within a track. The horizontal line of said widget is being displayed but it's not showing the button which marks the offset within a track and clicking on the horizontal line has no effect.
I seem to have lost my show desktop widget. There is just the red x as shown in the screen cap. I did try to uninstall and reinstall it but no luck. Does anyone know how i can get it back?
I'm completely new to DocBook, but am writing a few things I'd like to use it for. I'm looking to get away from the standard stylesheet (I'm using Ubuntu, and at the moment I use /usr/share/docbook-utils/docbook-utils.dsl). Is there anywhere I can browse different ones on the web to find one I like, that formats to HTML and PS/PDF?Am I even going about this in the right way? As much as I try and learn, I just can't fit it into my head how everything fits together with DocBook.
There is a very small thing which needs to be fixed in 11.04. In AisleRiot Solitaire the cards are ugly. In View -> Card styles -> Install card themes it asks me if I want to install additional software packages, but the Install button is greyed out.
This is almost trivial, but is there a way to get nicer cards?
I want to set the default colours for the vttys but can't seem to find where the defaults are kept, I can set up the vtty as I like via setterm in .bashrc etc but as soon as I do an ls or vim on return the colours are reset to white on black, been googling this but can't find an answer, any ideas?
I have just upgraded my system (debian testing, a lot of the upgrade had to do with latex packages). Now some latex styles have disappeared. For instance, I used to have garamond fonts installed but now they have disappeared.I have re-installed the package tex-live-fonts-extra (which contains garamond, but the command usepackage{garamond}in my latex file always leads to the error message
ERROR: LaTeX Error: File `garamond.sty' not found.
I just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu on my small 64GB SSD alongside my main drive for storage. I got everything set up just how I like it (customized clearlooks with Ubuntu Mono Light icons) the same as I have it on my laptop. I disabled all system sound effects. This morning, I wake up to it having a different icon set, and the menus having an identical grey scheme. In addition, the Ubuntu system sound effects are playing, even though in the settings it says they are disabled.I'm not really sure what's wrong! It's the same in both compiz and metacity. Here's a screenshot. Note how the boring old-style theme is applied in the update window and the menu at the top, yet the customizing themes window has the correct appearance for the buttons (funny coincidence)EDIT: I think I've narrowed it down to gnome-settings-daemon. When I try to initialize it via the terminal I get this:
** (gnome-settings-daemon:3852): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.SettingsDaemon ** (gnome-settings-daemon:3852): WARNING **: Could not acquire name
I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 and trying to learn the new Unity environment. Bibus is a reference manager which I used with great pleasure for sometime. It was perfect in terms of inserting and formating references to openoffice-writer.Now, with 11.04 Unity environment Bibus can insert references to Libreoffice-writer but can not change reference styles. Once I log out and re-enter with ubuntu-classic environment I see that Bibus is working perfectly in Gnome desktop of 11.04.In the Unity desktop I have to run Bibus as root to change styles and change reference formats. Why Bibus can not change styles and format references in Unity environment unless having root privileges?
I am using tab completion so i know that the file is in the right directory but its not working. the colors dont change. but the build in themes work fine. I cant provide better info because i dont know what to look for right now. there's no errors anywhere.
I recently added new themes for KDE from get new themes login manager. When I click on install new themes I have no clue where they are located? Not really new to fedora but far from being an expert and could use some help in many areas of the system. Most thing I have been able to figure out but some things just make no sense to me. I've configured many Linux systems but never for my own use and customization like desk tops, themes and such.
I installed a few gnome-shell-themes and applied them with the tweak tool, but if I want to change my wallpaper image after 3-4 seconds it returns to the old one?
I'm trying to write a program which would get information from a webpage and display the information on my desktop sort of like a widget. I kind of remember there being something like this already made, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's calledDoes anyone know?
