For some reason, I can't get openswan 2.6 to work with my configs. In Ubuntu I can easily install openswan 2.4 from legacy repository. What is the right way of doing this in Fedora (13)?
View 3 RepliesI have a Fedora system that I just changed the mother board on. The old NICs were eth0 and eth1. Now I have only one NIC that shows up as eth3. The problem is no matter what I do, eth0 and eth1 will not go away and their configs conflict with eth3. I removed Network Manager via yum. I deleted the ifcfg-eth0/1 files from /etc/ sysconfig/network-scripts and /etc/sysconfig/networking/default and profiles. In all of these locations the ifcfg-eth0/1 files keep reappearing after a reboot. I am at a loss at this point how to get rid of these non-existant NICs.

I'm able to connect to the internet wirelessly with my laptop running kubuntu 10.04 with no additional packages installed. I'm able to setup my connection using the GUI but I'm unable to locate where the configs are stored on the computer.
I thought the configs were stored in /etc/interface but the file never changes. Even after I'm connected, all it shows is

The reason I need this is because I'm planning on installing ubuntu server edition and there's no GUI for wireless setup.
i know whether openswan-2.4.8 can install on centos 5.3.becoz i download openswan-2.4.8.tar.gz and after some changes in the configuration file, i verify ipsec..it runs all ok..then i do service ipsec start.then lot of errors happen.. is it possible to clear the errors..is any body succeeded in it.my distro version 2.6.18-128.el5.i am plan to setup an openswan vpn with certificate to tunnel a windows XP client.

I can barely see the first top inch... This seems to have worked and it looks like all my files are here on my new hard drive. However when I rebooted I expected my old desktop settings to apply, and my firefox to have my bookmarks, history, and add-ons. Apparently it doesn't work like that.
In the past when I reinstalled Ubuntu and kept my old home partition, all my program configs were saved and worked in the new installation, even if I had to install the program first. How can I duplicate that behavior in copying my old home partition to the new hard drive?

My server is Debian 5.0.8, I am running xl2tpd 1.2.0, and Openswan IPsec 2.4.12, my clients are all Windows, and I am testing my setup on a Windows 7 client.
I have no problem connecting to the server, but after some time the connection drops. I removed the idle option from the ppp config but it does not make any difference.
Even when I create constant traffic with ping -t the connection drops also.
I have no problems reconnecting right away.
I have been hacking at this for a couple of days, reading every post I can find, but I have not found a solution to my problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. (I assume because Update manager removed the old nvidia? But I also assumed that a new version would be installed automatically?)I received the following Boot messages:

I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?

I just upgraded from fc9 to fc10 via the live cd. All went smooth. I tried to run yum update, but it keeps failing. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the repos, so I copied the repo files from another pc I have that is running fc10 and is able to run yum update.

I installed Fedora 12 and (as I expected) I couldn't boot anymore Windows 7. So I took the W7 DVD and used the repair mode to repair the MBR. So I ussed the command bootsect /nt60 C: and everything's fine now.
But I have no idea what to do to boot linux. Now it W7 boots automatically leaving no option of choosing between operating systems.
first I could not upgrade from FD12 to FD13 because the installation script wasn't able to read the FD12 fstab file. It was saying that the fstab is not well formatted. So I have new installed the entire system.

I just installed fedora on an old laptop. After restarting, the computer just shows me a black screen, it doesn't even show the BIOS screen. If I put a CD with the fedora installation program, it sounds like its reading it, but the screen keeps being black.
Just as background, i thought this laptop had died 4 months ago when I tried to start it and then nothing happened (black screen). Today, I decided to check if it was working before throwing it to the garbage, with the fedora 13 live cd in it, and voila, in entered and I was able to install fedora. But then upon installation of fedora it just shows again the same black screen...can this be a hardware problem?
I just installed Fedora 15 over a previous F14 installation. (My /home and /usr/local directories were installed as separate partitions, and the system dual-boots with Windows on another partition.) Setting up the users seemed to work normally. However, when I logged in, instead of starting normally, it went back to the login screen.I rebooted and made it go into terminal mode on startup (appending 3 to the kernel arguments). I was able to log in from the terminal. When I tried using startx, it failed. I tried to use "yum update" but I had no internet connection, so it did not work.
The next step was to try and get a connection to my router using iwconfig and wpa_supplicant, but that also failed. I tried reinstalling Fedora from the LiveCD, but the problem persisted.
When I am trying to install Fedora Core 10 into a XEN VM i get an error stating that images/xen directory does not exist on the DVD image.

AMD64, 1gb DDR2 RAM, 60 GB HDD, DVD Drive and ATI Chipset.
The problem is FC10 locks up randomly and I have seen a couple of threads on this. I want to uninstall FC10. However I'm unable to uninstall / remove the partition. When I try to boot up my laptop using a Windows CD (planning to remove the linux partitions from the WINdows setup) I only see a blank screen, the DVD keeps on spinning but nothing happens. I have tested the windows xp cd on other machines and works fine.
