I have just installed the newest version of ubuntu (10.10 the maverick meerkat) and im struggling installing any programs, wine and vlc arnt appearing on synaptic package manager and anything i try to do in either the command promt or ubuntu software centre doesnt work either. But I am not able to see it in the plugins list, when I goto Tool >> add-ons >> plugins. I tried about login in the browser address bar, got the list, but its a lot of details, which one would tell me that the adobe flash player is installed. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been doing periodic net-based dist upgrade since 7.10. Currently I use 9.10. Now that 10.04 is out, I want to upgrade to the latest LTS version by doing a clean install, instead of using net-based dist-upgrade.
Since I use Firefox, and Thunderbird, I want to keep the passwords/bookmarks I have stored in firefox, and mail/account settings (for multiple email accounts) that are in Thunderbird.
While I know I can copy the hidden profile directories for each, and back them up for recovery after the upgrade by copying them into the new 10.04 after install is complete, I don't know if this is recommended, prudent, or if pitfalls await me. Since I want to do a clean install, and, since 10.04 uses different versions of both Thunderbird and Firefox,
1. Would it be prudent to back up/use the existing profiles I have in 9.10, or should I bite the bullet and just start fresh with new profile setups when I finish installing 10.04? 2. Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of if I will be restoring a profile of each from 9.10?
3. Or, should I continue to do net-based dist-upgrades to 10.04 so appropriate profile changes can be made by the new versions of Thunderbird/Firefox software?

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

I even tried to go through the software center and the extra install through the help site from the firefox browser, but still get the error message.
i just installed fedora 12 on my computer. installation went perfect, even tweaked it a little bit and everything works; except for flash player. i installed it by following some guide and i can watch videos vids and all, but sometimes the videos video player doesn't respond to my mouse. i can click on play/pause but it gives no response whatsoever; i can click on the sound but it gives no response whatsoever. sometimes it all works perfectly, but when i click on the next vid it suddenly doesn't respond anymore.

My pc always bugs me about having a broken packet and i'm not able to download anything else because of it. I've tried for a long time now and visited like every site to try to get rid of it. It says "E: flashplugin-nonfree: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal."
When I try to delete it in system package manager. And it says I need to do this "This package is a transitional package that can safely be removed after you installed flashplugin-installer." i have just upgraded to 10.10 from 10.04. i have an acer netbook (d250 one). i had boot loading screen problems with 10.04 too. i hoped that this issue will be fixed with the upgrade but not. after the grub menu, a black screen appers until the password prompt screen. there is no purple loading screen, just a black screen. is it a plymouth prob? also i realised that when i playing videos in videos the sound crashes a bit. i'm using google chromium. but my main problem is the booting one not the flashplugin. the new 'ubuntu' font is awesome. i <3 it.

When I press the fullscreen button, the area where the video was playing turns gray and the sound stops playing. I've tried fiddling with some settings in Compiz but it didn't seem to help. I had Flash Player 10 installed initially, when it started having this problem, and then I installed 10.1 and it continued doing this.
