i know whether openswan-2.4.8 can install on centos 5.3.becoz i download openswan-2.4.8.tar.gz and after some changes in the configuration file, i verify ipsec..it runs all ok..then i do service ipsec start.then lot of errors happen.. is it possible to clear the errors..is any body succeeded in it.my distro version 2.6.18-128.el5.i am plan to setup an openswan vpn with certificate to tunnel a windows XP client.

My server is Debian 5.0.8, I am running xl2tpd 1.2.0, and Openswan IPsec 2.4.12, my clients are all Windows, and I am testing my setup on a Windows 7 client.
I have no problem connecting to the server, but after some time the connection drops. I removed the idle option from the ppp config but it does not make any difference.
Even when I create constant traffic with ping -t the connection drops also.
I have no problems reconnecting right away.
I have been hacking at this for a couple of days, reading every post I can find, but I have not found a solution to my problem.

How can I go by doing that and also setting up an apache server to be able to connect through network. Right now I have apache/linux/mysql running it works when i go to localhost, but I would also like to let all the computers in office to access it. I would guess that will deal with virtual host which I know how to setup. I just need to setup an IP.

I have a Centos 5.2 VM running under Windows 2008 Hyper-V. If I add two "legacy Nic's" and bridge them, everything appears to work fine. However, if I remove the legacy nics and replace them with two synthetic nics (linux integration components), the nics seems to function fine UNTIL I add them to a bridge.This VM will eventually be used as a DansGuardian/Squid transparent proxy for a local library. The logical layout is represented by the attached jpg image. I have also included the ifcfg- scripts for the adapters and bridge for both scenarios.It would also be useful if someone else has Hyper-V with the integration components and dual physical nics to see if they can reproduce my symptoms on their box.Legacy Adapters:

I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. We have a BUNCH of exposed services that are on special ports -- for example, to connect to one machine, you go in with [IP_Address]:12000, and to connect to another, [IP_Address]:12002, etc., etc. We're currently using OpenSuse 10.3 on this box, and YaST makes this criminally easy (you give it the incoming port number and the destination IP/port numbers and it just works). But OpenSuse 10.3 is nearing EOL, we're buying a new machine, and I'd like to use CentOS on the new one.
I've read the sparse Webmin documentation in their Wiki, and it leads one to believe that you simply insert a "NAT" rule. But there's obviously something they're leaving out. I *am* opening the ports in the firewall. But when I log in to [IP_Address]:port, it just times out. The port forwarding never occurs. The test in this case is SSH, and I know that SSHD is working properly because I can log into that machine just fine from another PC on the same internal subnet.
I am trying to see if there is an authbind equivalent or authbind package for CentOS/RHEL? x If so, where can I get more info and download it? It seems to be only available for Debian and Ubuntu.

It always worked fine in Ubuntu by default (plug and play). Is there some setting I need to make to get this working?Even BT-3 (which is quite old) recognizes the RT-73.

I also don't have a problem when booted under CentOS 5 and there is no authentication setup on the wireless router. I only have a problem when I setup authentication. The instalation went fine and initially I let DHCP work its magic. The router IP address ia 192.168.0.1 and all other VM's I have are granted dynamic ip address on this range (i.e. 192.168.0.x). However, the CentOS vm got an IP address that looks like it belongs on a different subnet :192.168.1.1
The VM (vmware desktop) network setting for this VM uses "Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network". I can ping the host (Windows 7 64 bit) and the host can ping it (it been the VM) - but no other computer on the network can see it. To make things easier, I changed the network configuration to use a static IP address. Here are my configuration files:
