i am running F11 on a net book and was wondering how to zoom in and out of the desktop...some install windows or other such pop ups get cut off by the bottom..so what is the hot key or setting to zoom out...i only have one resolution to choose from so i cant change that.

To enable compiz I have download and installed (using OneClick) the nVidia driver for my nVidia GForce 8500GT video card.I need to enable the 'Enhanced Zoom' because I'm a low vision user and I need a magnifier better than Orca.The problem is that when i try to enable it (from ccsm) there isn't any zoom... I try to press META (or Super) and scroll with wheel (SUPER + Button 4) but nothing.
I have see that if I press Super+2 (increase zoom) the mouse pointer moves to a specific screen zone but the screen will not zoom.
In linux we can zoom the screen using Windows Key + Mouse Scroll. On windows 7 how to do it

I figure this is some kind of keyboard shortcut I'm pressing, but I can't find anything like it in preferences. What is happening and how do I stop it from happening?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just replaced my ailing Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard which has surprisingly served me well for about 11 years.. I've replaced it with the (wired) Microsoft Natural 4000 which all is working fine on except for the Zoom slider. It'd be handy to be able to map it somehow and so far no luck. There is also the Microsoft 7000 which is a wireless keyboard which appears to have the same slider key. It just creates repeated events when held up or down, nothing really special.
I've tried xbindkeys per some results on google, but it won't map anything >255. I keep reading about "keytouch" but not quite sure how to use it and seems a bit kludgy, but if that's the best solution I can try it again.
I'm trying to install F11 on my old FSC Amilo Pro laptop. The installer starts fine, shows up on the screen fine, but the graphic installation window is wrongly positioned on the screen. It's about 300px too far to the right and about 300px too low on the screen, so that my Next, Back, Cancel buttons etc are off the screen.

Well, when the installation process get the screen that shows the files copied (all copied...) , it freezes and does not advance more. Perhaps groped a firmware update? View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed F12 with the i686 KDE livecd. A black screen with a blink "-" appeared after the bios information on the first reboot. The computer does not respond to any key input except "ctrl+alt+del", which restarts the computer.The machine is a dell inspiron 6000 with inboard 915gm video card, and the bootloader was written to the harddrive mbr. Any help would be highly appreciated.I need to be more clear. Installation went fine, problem appeared on the first reboot.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas this feature been removed from the version of Compiz that comes with 10.04?I was running 9.10 for a few months and I configured a feature for zooming out windows into a kind of preview mode.I remember setting up a key combo and when I clicked on any window and pressed the combo, it would cycle between 2 preview sizes of around 25% and 10% and then back to it's normal size.I could drag a zoomed-out window around the desktop but obviously it would not be usable until it was restored to normal size.
The window contents would still update though and it was a great way of keeping an eye on many windows at once.I have looked at every single setting in CompizConfig Settings Manager but it's nowhere to be found and I really miss it!
i have every effect working perfectly on gnome on my acer a110 netbook but cube seems to be proving difficult. Every time i drag a window along it seems to unfold not spin the cube.
Also how can i zoom out to see the cube on my netbook? on the desktop version IIRC system> preferences > advanced desktop effects > desktop cube < but it aint on the netbook
I have put a local marine chart as my wallpaper image (ubuntu 10.10). It's a high res tif image and looks good.
However, occasionally I'd like to zoom in on a particular point. Is there any way of doing this? (I'm not using compiz - as I don't need that level of eye candy).
I know I can open the image manually and zoom - but wondered if there was a way to do it on the wallpaper.
Is there a way to get a fullscreen zoom (eg. compiz's super+scroll) with Ubuntu 11.04 + Unity?

Computer: Dual AMD 280 Processors, Tyan Thunder K8WE S2895 Motherboard, 8x 2GB DIMMs.
Installed Fedora 10 86x64 from ISO burned to a DVD. Installation went ok, and computer needed to be rebooted at the end of the installation. Upon restart, Fedora 10 loaded to initial setup screen where user name, date, time, etc are set. At the end, as this is a stand-alone computer, the setup requests to send data of computer setup to Fedora.org and this request has to be denied. Pressing the Finish button ends up killing the system. The system doesn't reboot, what does happen is that the screen goes to black, and no signal is given to the monitor; the system hangs at this state. I've tried to see if giving the setup the ability to send the system data would change the end state upon pressing Finish, but nothing changes.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi am trying to dual install fedora 14 alongside my current windows 7 home premium 64-bit. the main issue that i am having is when running the DVD you cannot see anything on the screen during the installation process so i can't see what i'm doing. other than that the DVD works correctly as far as i know. i have downloaded the iso twice and burned two separate disks and have had the same problem with both disks.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a ZOOM H1 recorder as a USB microphone on Jessie AMD64. Since I upgraded fron Wheezy to Jessie, it seems that the volume has gone down. I have to set the volume to 135% in pavucontrol and set the recording volume on the H1 to 90 to get good input.
pactl tells me that the interface is :

but in pavucontrol it shows up as

There is a problem with the Linux version of Firefox that images pixelate badly when zoomed. This does not happen in the Windows version of Firefox. Ubuntu has a fix for this that works really well (I have used installed it in Ubuntu in the past). Here is the link to Ubuntu's fix: [URL]

When I zoom out to see all my virtual desktops using the expo plugin in compiz, it displays them side by side. I want to make the windows bigger. I have four virtual desktops and would prefer to have it display two in one row and two in another row so that I can get a better view of what's going on in them. Is there a way to do that?

I want to use it for web design: watching icons, borders, spaces, etc. I tried the compiz zoom, enhanced zoom and mynifying box bout all of them make things blurry and I couldn't find the way to make things "sharp". Is there such an option for those plugins or an alternative way to have that functionality?

I have got the connection log attached along with all of the mentions of pppd and all other lines in the file /var/log/messages from the first mention of pppd to the end of the file.

The wireless network icon implies I'm connected but I can't connect to the internet or see the PCs on my network. I logged in as root and blacklisted rt2800usb. I am also getting a message about needing to enter the login keyring password, whatever that is. The system is set to log in automatically.Do I need to install the drivers at System -> Administration-> Hardware Drivers as well? Do I need to enter a BSSID in the wireless configuration screen? What is the BSSID if so?And most importantly, did I already post this question? Oh boy, is the ol' melon fried.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Kubuntu 10.04 and have activated the interactive map wallpaper. Zooming with the mouse wheel is unfortunately very slow. I have tried to adjust the speed by changing System Settings > Mouse > Advanced: Mouse wheel scrolls by to max, i.e. "12 lines", but it has no effect, the zooming is still very slow. Is there any way to speed it up? If possible I would like to have the same zoom speed as when using Google Maps [url] in Firefox.

It works under Windows once I enable file & printer sharing.I tried to connect directly to the D-Link router using its IP4 address. I received the message the site could not be found. I used network manager (I think. I'm new to wireless ubuntu networking) and manually set the computer's IP4, Gateway, and netmask addresses. Nothing. I connect the ethernet patch cable and I'm in. Network Manager show the wireless network, set as automatic log in, as never used even tho I've connected to it manually several times. The router is in multi-mode - b, g, & n.
I'd show the output from sudo ifconfig -a, and sudo lsmod | grep rt but I keep getting this error message: " 1. You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more."Windows shows the adapter as rt2780 but here you can see it's claiming rt3070. The wireless icon shows it's getting a signal and I can connect to the local network, or so it seems. I'm running it thru a D-Link DIR-628 router. Is there something else I'm missing?
