When I zoom out to see all my virtual desktops using the expo plugin in compiz, it displays them side by side. I want to make the windows bigger. I have four virtual desktops and would prefer to have it display two in one row and two in another row so that I can get a better view of what's going on in them. Is there a way to do that?
View 2 RepliesHas this feature been removed from the version of Compiz that comes with 10.04?I was running 9.10 for a few months and I configured a feature for zooming out windows into a kind of preview mode.I remember setting up a key combo and when I clicked on any window and pressed the combo, it would cycle between 2 preview sizes of around 25% and 10% and then back to it's normal size.I could drag a zoomed-out window around the desktop but obviously it would not be usable until it was restored to normal size.
The window contents would still update though and it was a great way of keeping an eye on many windows at once.I have looked at every single setting in CompizConfig Settings Manager but it's nowhere to be found and I really miss it!
I want to, both, zoom using the SUPER key and the mouse wheel, and then releasing the SUPER key, while still somewhat zoomed-in, be able to scroll down/up the page with the mouse wheel.
I could do it before, but I can't figure out/find out how to do it now.
I've looked in gconf-editor but there is no entry for Nautilus.Can't find anything in documentation either.For certain folders I want nice big file icons but zoom increments are so large. At one point I have 3 icons across with extra space on the side. So I want to increase a little. One increase makes it so big only one icon fill fit across.Where can I find this setting and just pop in whatever zoom level I'd like?

To enable compiz I have download and installed (using OneClick) the nVidia driver for my nVidia GForce 8500GT video card.I need to enable the 'Enhanced Zoom' because I'm a low vision user and I need a magnifier better than Orca.The problem is that when i try to enable it (from ccsm) there isn't any zoom... I try to press META (or Super) and scroll with wheel (SUPER + Button 4) but nothing.
I have see that if I press Super+2 (increase zoom) the mouse pointer moves to a specific screen zone but the screen will not zoom.
I need to change the default zoom level for Evince. There must be some way to do this. Besides, can Evince start without any PDF file loaded? Also, what is the command line to execute evince? (I run Linux Mint 8 based on Koala 9.10). Whenever it loads a file for which it assigns a zoom level more than 175% or 200%, the whole PC hangs if I click on the "reduce zoom" icon in the toolbar. This is a very big regression.
This is ridiculous! Even ePDFViewer is better than this. I really would like to stay with Evince for the time being, and not need to move to Foxit.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had issues with changing the pointer when compiz was active in ubuntu 10.10. it would not change when on the desktop, only when hovering over a window.I solved this issue by doing the following:
Hit alt f2 and enter-> gconf-editor
Then goto-> /->apps->compiz->general->allscreens->options
Then in "cursor_themes" type in the name of the pointer theme(Eg. DMZ-White)
This should resolve the issue with compiz.I am not going to go over that here.Oh yea don't forget to logout/login or press ALT F2 and enter compiz - -replace to refresh the pointer...

I've tried PCLinux OS and was OK but would not boot 30% of the time and had an edgy feel to it. So now I'm trying Ubuntu. I down loaded and boot to the CD. Nice. No network. No wireless. Could not find any kind of "Control Panel" to view system settings or hardware or add hardware. Found "Hardware Driver" and clicked wireless card driver and got to the internet. OK! Looks good, feels good, let's try it.
I installed it to the hard drive and seemed OK but no net work again. Went to "Hardware Driver" and no drivers are listed. Now what I do. I'm sure the driver is on the CD but how do I install it?
I've updated Ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 natty. and noticed a complete view change which I don't like. all my top bars with shorcuts are gone! View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu 9.10, certain sites seem to use bitmap fonts for any fixed-width fonts, but only at specific zoom levels. This site and other Stack Exchange sites are among the affected sites, and of course the default zoom level is affected. At unaffected zoom levels, I get the expected smooth curvy fonts. How can I make Firefox use the nice curvy smooth fonts at all zoom levels?

I did an adjustment or two, and then it has been just been hanging up using 100% CPU when it is loaded. When an application uses it to save a document, it does not hang.I created a Templates folder and assigned it with the user-dirs.I then changed the view of that particular directory from LIST to ICONS.And then it started to hang up.Somehow I was able to change the view back to LIST, but it still hangs up.

The Applications menu has to much sub-menus. I prefer it flat. The nautilus bookmarks are not directly accessible in Places either, which is not really comfortable.

I want to change the default size of the desktop icons, but 100% is too big, and 66% is too small. Without scaling every icon, is there a way that I can either change the preset percentages in "icon view defaults" or change the default icon size some other way?
