Programming :: Passing Input To Program For Test

Apr 13, 2011

I started to run a C++ my program in Linux and I don't know how to test my program that works fine with a text file. This is a project for my uni and to explain more clear, My program is a sample database for modify or add and search and it read data from a binary file and also write into a binary file. I have got an input from my lecture and she said after compiling in Linux I must write:

1-to compile:
Code:
g++ (files with cpp)
2-to see the output:
Code:
./a.out
3-to test with input:
Code:
./a.out < input.txt >

My problem is in step three. What I must write in the command part after" step2" to see the output?

I need to test network card throughput and speed between two computers, one is running Fedora and other running Windows 7. Usually I would use netperf to perform this task, however I can't find Windows build of netperf. Can anyone recommend any network evaluation tool, similar to netperf (clien/server) which has both Windows and Linux versions.

Is there a Windows or Linux program that I can use to quality test a CD? Is possible, with a detailed explanation of any errors it may find, and whether they will cause problems listening to the CD?

Ubuntu Installation :: Test Some Software On A Windows XP Machine?

Feb 19, 2010

i have the mandatory 50 posts about how 'windoze' is terrible and ubuntu is much better blah blah etc. I need to test some software on a windows XP machine. I have an Ubuntu laptop. When I try to run my XP disc it tries to get going, but inevitably gets to a blue screen of death (ahh, I missed windows).

Ideally I want a dual boot machine- A massive XP partition with a cute little Ubuntu partition on the side. Failing that, I need XP installed on this laptop. Possibly relevant specs are as follows:

***ASUS M51V***
OS: Ubuntu 9.04
CPU: Duo P8400
HDD: 250GB
RAM: 2GB

General :: Windows - Using On A Virtual Machine To Run A LAMP Test Server?

Apr 9, 2011

I'm a web developer and I am building a site on a CMS that has issues moving from a WAMP server to LAMP. The live server is LAMP and I am running Windows 7. I don't want to run into problems moving from the test server to the live server, so I was wondering if I could somehow run Linux using a virtual machine (using Windows Virtual PC which I think supports Linux or VirtualBox) and then using a Linux equivalent of WAMP2 server as a test server. how to do this and what the best Linux distribution to use would be?

Fedora Networking :: Samsung N130 Realtek 8192 Doesn't Work In Fedora 12

Apr 2, 2010

I have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.

Ubuntu Networking :: Install On Samsung N250 Netbook / Test Works By Running From USB Stick First (without Removing Windows 7)?

Jun 28, 2011

am currently using Windows 7 across my networked PCs at home.

I've just received my new Samsung N250 Plus Netbook which comes with Windows 7 Starter (yuk). I read a post on Ebuyer from someone who has installed ubuntu on his N250 so thought I'd give it a go tonight.

My main concern is whether my wi-fi card (Broadcom 802.11n according to windows) will work when I remove windows and install ubuntu. I intend to use the netbook for internet use only while working abroad.

Is it possible to test it works by running ubuntu from my USB stick first (without removing windows 7)?

Fedora :: How To Get Realtek USB Wireless Working

Oct 22, 2010

Supported chipsets:
8188
8191

Terry Polzin on the Fedora list today posted a request for help with getting a Realtek 8188S(U) working. I replied saying that I had a similar device and shared my experiences.

I told him that there is a driver in staging which supports the device, but that Fedora only ships quality working drivers by default, so no staging drivers are included. It's easy enough to get them though, just add the RPMFusion Free repository and install their kmod-staging package which (as the name might give away) includes the staging drivers for the current kernel.

Once you have that installed, the r8192s_usb module can be loaded, but the device still needs external (presumably proprietary) firmware to work. Fortunately, although the driver available from Realtek does not include it, it was included on the disk, and is also available in the Billion driver from their website. So, once you have put the firmware in the right place, the device just works.

Here are the steps to get it working (you will need to have RPMFusion enabled, and run these as root).

Code:
yum install kmod-staging unzip
depmod -a
wget http://au.billion.com/downloads/3011N/3011N_Linux_Driver.zip
unzip -j 3011N_Linux_Driver.zip "*rtl8192sfw.bin" -d RTL8192SU

[Code].....

The main downside here (apart from the obvious) is that you will be relying on RPMFusion to build an updated kmod-staging version when you get a Fedora kernel update. Sometimes this might not happen before you get your kernel, so when you reboot, you lose your wireless (because there's no driver). If so, boot to your older kernel for a while, or build the driver yourself, or create an akmod instead of kmod.

Fedora :: How To Install RealTek Wireless Drivers

Jan 6, 2011

is how I added the RealTek 8188CE (or other RealTek drivers) to my newly installed Fedora 14 on a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4056 laptop. This is assuming you have performed a regular install of Fedora 14 and have done nothing else.

1. Download the drivers at the RealTek download page here:URL...Search for your model in the "Download Search" box and selecting the Linux version of the software. In my case I typed in 8188CE and selected RTL8188CE (Software).

2.Extract the downloaded file into the desired location, open a terminal window, and navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers.

3.Enable Sudo using the following command:su -echo "username ALL=(ALL) ALL" >> /etc/sudoers.Where "username" is your account username.

4.While still logged on as root, type in the following to install gcc and the kernel headers:yum install gcc kernel-devel kernel-headers patch make exit(From this point you really only have to follow the readme.txt instructions in the drivers folder, but I'll add them here)

5.Change to Super User sudo su

6. Compile driver from the source code make

7. Install the driver to the kernel make install reboot

Fedora Installation :: Installers Crash With Realtek 8111DL Enabled ?

Oct 27, 2009

I have a Biostar TA785GE which as I understand it, has a Realtek 8111DL on-board.

Booting with F11 32-bit DVD, and the F12 Live CD crashes before any user input, with indecipherable text on-screen (text mode, not X11).

Symptoms were the same with the Fedora 11 32-bit installation DVD, the Fedora 12 Live 32-bit CD and the CentOS 64-bit install DVD.

Booting with "linux text" mode (w/CentOS DVD) shows a kernel panic in ":r8169:rtl8169_init_one+0x369/0x9d4" from "pci_device_probe+0x100/0x180". I'll have to shutdown again to try the Fedora CD/DVDs, but if there's a different panic I'll post that tomorrow.

Disabling the on-board NIC allowed the boot to proceed, and get as far as detecting the hard drive partitions (where I stopped it since Ubuntu is installed).

Ubuntu 9.04 Workstation(Desktop?) install DVD worked fine, and I've installed it and am using it to enter this.

From Ubuntu 9.04 on this hardware: "uname -r" shows

Code:

Code:

Code:

Code:

So, my question: if I disable the NIC and install (alongside Ubuntu), will I be able to get the 8111DL working with a Fedora kernel?
