Fedora :: Firefox 3.5.8 Cannot Save Page / Download After Synched Using Unison

What follows is actually a copy of my yesterday post on users mailing list, which so far had no response at all. I hope I'll have more luck here.I have 3 PCs running Hardy, Karmic, and Fedora 12, with Firefox on each of them: v. 3.0.18 on Hardy and v. 3.5.8 on both Karmic and Fedora.I created "shared" profile on each system and synchronize them using Unison. Ubuntu 8.04 is a base system for synchronization.The synchronization itself works just fine on all 3 systems. No functionality problems on either of Ubuntu's.In Fedora however I'm having a problem. While using "shared" profile I can save neither a web page nor a download (unless I use some of add-on' as described below).
If either Save Page As... or Save Link As... menu items are selected the requests are simply ignored with no response from FF. However using Download Them All add-on does the job. Equally Scrapbook add-on allows me to save/capture pages.
The default profile works as expected. I thought SELinux is on the way but disabling it (for a test sake) did not changed things. All permissions in "shared" profile directory to me look OK.I'm new to Fedora and cannot figure it out myself, need you help, folks.

I am looking to implement a file server, in a small office we have users in 3 different continents, Europe(Ireland), USA and Asia(China) with 3 main offices, 2 in Ireland and 1 in China We currently have 1 file server in Europe synched to another in Asia office using unison Our USA staff and roadwarriors connect over vpn to the fileserver in Ireland Users indicate that access the files in the fileserver from outside the office is prohibitively slow....its served by a 12Mb/2Mb broadband line, which is used for all office traffic
We have hosted servers where we could setup a file server as an alternative to setting up in the offices... Can anyone recommend a good, free/opensource

while i realize it's certainly taboo to download a lot of videos videos and similar without permission, and possibly illegal in some countries due to copyright, i have also been reading that the video is clearly buffered in the page casche, so technically is stored on your machine already, but is only stored in ram. how can i save it from my firefox page casche? some mitigating info is that i have poor web speeds, and an old machine, which is not using all of the 1gig of ram for some reason.

I am using firefox 3.6.18 in Ubuntu 10.04. My problem is that if I try to save some webpage in postscript or pdf format, I go to file>print>print-to-file option and choose output file as ps or pdf format. Now if I click to print, I do get the corresponding page saved in ps/pdf format but only the first page is printed(i.e., saved in ps/pdf format) this way, leaving major portion(may be eight pages for example) of the corresponding webpage unsaved. (the option: range of printing: all pages is chosen by default.) Why is this happening and what should I do to print the entire page? On FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

It's not working no matter what webpage I view. Windows works just fine. Try "save page as" on this typical page.

I have Ubuntu 9.10 dual booting with Windows7.My ext3 /home is mounted as F: in windows.I share a firefox profile between them so that when i am in Windows my firefox uses the same profile as it does when in Ubuntu.It all worked great until recently. I am unable to save files by right clicking and save as. In the config i am unable to set a directory to save to. It neer asks me where to save to. Just nothing happens. some off my book marks are all messed up as well, my rss feeds have the same post on some random website every time i log on and i have to manually refresh to get the correct feeds back. I am unable to delete the random bookmark.

First I go to the following URL to download the latest version of VLC Player, which I greatly prefer to Totem or any other standard Linux video/audio player: http://www.fileguru.com/Movie-Player/download. After I click on the "Download" link, a new window appears which asks me if I want to 1) Open with Archive Manager (default) or 2) Save File. There is a drop down arrow next to the first choice which only gives "Other..." as the only other choice. Well, if I choose the first option, the download appears as an .exe file in the "Downloads" window.
A window with "Download Error" in its Title Bar appears with the following message in it: "/tmp/VLC_Player_Setup-3.exe could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." I don't even know yet how to even open up an .exe file in Linux, despite repeated research.

With the last several updates to Firefox, loading pages from several different sites slows down to (slower than) a crawl - taking sometimes minutes. Most of the time, this occurs loading ads.
I don't remember what release this started with, but I didn't have problems before, and I don't have any problems loading the same web pages on IE8 (running on XP). This is the same on F12 and F11.
I have tried changing some of the securty choices, even tried blocking certain sites, but no luck.
Also, several times after a download, firefox freezes, although the rest of the desktop is okay.

I'm running the latest release of Fedora, release 12. When I attempt to bookmark a site, Firefox will close when I click on the drop down arrow to choose the location. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but the issue persists. I've tried this when running Gnome, Openbox, and xfce.

I have come across an old bug in Firefox, and I have tried all suggested solutions in the web and still cannot solveI am using Fedora 10 x86_64, and Firefox 3.0.15.Originally, Firefox always ask me if I want to save the tabs when I clicked the close button.One day, I accidentally checked the "Do not show me this again" box, and then Firebox never ask me to save the tabs.I have tried the following without success.

Trying to open Firefox, and find that I cannot. It crashes. So, have opened Seamonkey, and am writing this from there. F11 updated to the latest on an ThinkPad R51. If I try my terminal, it opens provided I quickly open an empty tab before the home page loads. As soon as I try to connect to a page, or even preferences, Firefox crashes.

I'm seeing weirdness with Scottrade's main screen with Firefox (not the real-time streaming quotes app). It seems after a few minutes, whether idling or otherwise, Firefox gets into a state where nothing on the Scottrade page is clickable. Firefox menus still work as do other tabs so Firefox itself is still alive. It's as if a timer fires inside Firefox that renders the Scottrade page inert. Manually reloading the page temporarily fixes the problem. This is the only website where I've encountered this. It's particularly annoying when you're in the middle of placing a trade order and the page suddenly goes dead when you're about to submit.
System: Fedora 11 x86-64 Firefox 3.5.6 (x86-64) from Fedora Update
I thought maybe this was a problem specific to Fedora's Firefox build so I installed the FF 3.5.6 and 3.6.0 i386 from a tarball direct from Mozilla. Same results. I'd be inclined to call this a Firefox bug were it not for the fact that I do not see this behavior on my ancient Fedora 4 machine running Firefox 3.5.6 installed from the same tarball.

I have a weird problem with Firefox with the following scenario: When I view a picture from a website in the browser and the pictures gets deleted from the server (while I'm viewing it) - I can't save the picture to my hard drive. Firefox always tries to download the picture from the web-server although it's in the cache. Resulting in an image file which contains the HTTP 404 response from the server. *lol*

I am using Xfce as the desktop enviroment and Mozilla Firefox as the webrowser. Within the webrowser window, I do File>Save Page As. I save it, and the result is almost always foo.html and directory foo_files. But I think under KDE I could choose the format, one of them being something like "Single page" (only one file; the colecction of .png, etc is embedded into that file). And this is the format I want Xfce (or Firefox) to use when downloading to hdd.

I run Elyssa and have a symbol of a padlock at the bottom right side. This is for updates on software. It tells me that I have 351 updates available. when I open this the updates are shown and each have a number.Mainly 2's and 3's. when I do press the install update button, it gives me the following message:
warning you are about to install software that can not be authenticated....
This message worries me so I have not done any updates for a loooooong time.
What shall I do? How can I tell what is malicious and what is not? does anyone out there know?

I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.

I have apache httpd server on my Fedora 10I got 2 problems:First : I copied the web page files to its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled the default web page. But when I visit http:/localhost ，it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. So how can I set http://localhost load my default web page index.html ?Second :I want to set up a web server on Internet through my router . I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). So I want to know did I miss something to set up a web server in this kind of situation
