Ubuntu Installation :: Can't Save .hqx Files After Firefox Upgrade?

Jan 9, 2010

I can't save files with the .hqx extension for some reason. Firefox was recently upgraded to 3.5.7 via Update Manager. Nothing happens when I click on a link pointing to a .hqx file no download status window. I can see that something is trying to download but it is not saved to disk. (Yes, I checked /dev/null first). My first stop was to edit > preferences > applications to see if the extension definitions got borked during the upgrade. Everything seemed normal except for the fact that I couldn't see an entry for .hqx files and no apparent method for manually adding it to the list. I went to another site that I administer and successfully download a .pdf file

Ubuntu :: Unable To Save Firefox Display Page Properly ?

Jul 16, 2011

I am using firefox 3.6.18 in Ubuntu 10.04. My problem is that if I try to save some webpage in postscript or pdf format, I go to file>print>print-to-file option and choose output file as ps or pdf format. Now if I click to print, I do get the corresponding page saved in ps/pdf format but only the first page is printed(i.e., saved in ps/pdf format) this way, leaving major portion(may be eight pages for example) of the corresponding webpage unsaved. (the option: range of printing: all pages is chosen by default.) Why is this happening and what should I do to print the entire page? (one example is the following page which you may try to save in the way I described above: [url]

Ubuntu :: Xrandr Doesn't Save Changes - How To Make It To Save Changes

Jun 16, 2010

my mediacenter is attached to an beamer with the optimal resolution of 1280*720 ubuntu 10.04 doesnt offer me this revolution (on my intel 915 graphis controller). this means i have to add this resolution to the possible resolutions. first i used cvt

Code:

cvt 1280 720 60

and got this result:

Quote:

# 1280x720 59.86 Hz (CVT 0.92M9) hsync: 44.77 kHz; pclk: 74.50 MHz
Modeline "1280x720_60.00" 74.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 720 723 728 748 -hsync +vsync

then i added this to xrandr

Code:

xrandr --verbose --newmode "1280x720" 74.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 720 723 728 748 -hsync +vsync

and

Code:

xrandr --verbose --addmode VGA1 1280x720

now i can select and use the new resolution - until next reboot. after an reboot 1280x720 is again not available. even if i work with sudo - the resolution isnt there....

I'm aware that Firefox stores website-passwords in the personal information manager, and that I am able to view these after unlocking them with the master-password and export them with the profile info export function. Software :: Wanting Firefox To Save Passwords Again?

Whenever I log into a site for the first time I always tell Firefox to save my passwordThis is very convenient. Along time ago, however, when I first started using this feature I sometimes clicked "Never save the password for this site" and consequently some of the sites which I most frequently visit still need me to manually input the password. How can I tell Firefox I want it to save the passwords for these sites now? I cleared everything in the "Preferences >> Security >> Exceptions" menu but that did not fix the problem. I don't want to just delete my profile because I have about a years worth of passwords and bookmarks and whatnot that I don't want to redo.

Fedora :: Firefox 3.5.8 Cannot Save Page / Download After Synched Using Unison

Mar 23, 2010

What follows is actually a copy of my yesterday post on users mailing list, which so far had no response at all. I hope I'll have more luck here.I have 3 PCs running Hardy, Karmic, and Fedora 12, with Firefox on each of them: v. 3.0.18 on Hardy and v. 3.5.8 on both Karmic and Fedora.I created "shared" profile on each system and synchronize them using Unison. Ubuntu 8.04 is a base system for synchronization. The synchronization itself works just fine on all 3 systems. No functionality problems on either of Ubuntu's.In Fedora however I'm having a problem. While using "shared" profile I can save neither a web page nor a download (unless I use some of add-on' as described below).

If either Save Page As... or Save Link As... menu items are selected the requests are simply ignored with no response from FF. However using Download Them All add-on does the job. Equally Scrapbook add-on allows me to save/capture pages.

The default profile works as expected. I thought SELinux is on the way but disabling it (for a test sake) did not changed things. All permissions in "shared" profile directory to me look OK.I'm new to Fedora and cannot figure it out myself, need you help, folks.

Slackware :: Change Default Firefox (Save As) Window Location?

May 20, 2010

Since school ended, I decided to finally wipe and due a clean upgrade to Slackware 13.0. Everything is great except one thing. When I want to save something in firefox, the "save as" window that popups up, that allows you to browse to right directory, popups too low. In my window manager(wmii), the bottom is cutoff. I want to have the window popup higher. Is this possible? In my previous install, I think the window would usually remember where it last was, but now it seems to always popup in the same location. I'm not sure if this is slackware, firefox or wmii issue. Also I tried another wm, Awesomewm, and it showed up in the same spot.

Ubuntu :: Can't Save Html Files

However, for whatever reason, I cannot save my html files. First, I thought it was because I didn't have permission on my account, so I switched to localadmin (i don't know if all Linux distros come with a localadmin account, but i know localadmin has "higher" permissions than, but less that root, of course). Even as localadmin, I could not save my html files!

How does one save files in MP3 (or MP4) format. This would apply to converting an existing audio file to MP3 or to ripping a CD.This question must be as old as Ubuntu, yet I find very little in our forums. What I do find, refers me to items that don't seem to be in the repositories anymore, so perhaps someone in the know can update us again.Yes it is lossy and proprietary, but it's fine for speech and produces a much more compact file than flac. Also, flac and ogg are not well known to non Linux users, programs and equipment. So, for compatibility, I often want to convert flac to MP3.
