View 7 RepliesI'm using debian lenny. How can I install flash player? When I'm downloading it from adobe I have multiple selections
YUM for Linux
.tar.gz for Linux
.rpm for Linux
.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+
APT for Ubuntu 9.04+
Which one must be downloaded and how to install it.
I'm having problems with the Flash plugin since yesterday. It is caused by a file which is not available in the repo:

download failed The Flash plugin is NOT installed. In that archive the file adobe-flashplugin_10.0.42.34.orig.tar.gz is missing, but there is a file for 10.0.45.2. I couldn't figure out how I can install this version (does not even show up when I select all software sources including backports).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to save flash videos by going to /tmp so that i can watch them later, without having to stream (and i'm not talking about ..... or anywhere else where it's against the ToU to save videos).As many of you already know, videos are no longer saved in /tmp with flashplayer 10.2 (or they're delted immediately). I'm using Google Chrome and I've tried looking in the Cache and I've tried all kinds of things and i can't figure out how to save videos.I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me. I wouldnt mind downgrading my version of flash (actually i'd love to do that if i knew how) but chrome seems to have flash built-in or something (?) so i have no idea how to do that.
I found a script that allows me to open whatever flash video i have open in browser with vlc, but vlc won't allow me to save as or anything. The site said that i can change the parts of the script to say mplayer to open with mplayer but i tried that and the script just stopped working. This is the script:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
FLASH_TMP=`ls /tmp | grep Flash*`

I run Elyssa and have a symbol of a padlock at the bottom right side. This is for updates on software. It tells me that I have 351 updates available. when I open this the updates are shown and each have a number.Mainly 2's and 3's. when I do press the install update button, it gives me the following message:
warning you are about to install software that can not be authenticated....
This message worries me so I have not done any updates for a loooooong time.
What shall I do? How can I tell what is malicious and what is not? does anyone out there know?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was downloading to a USB drive and went to continue the download without the USB drive plugged in. "Save location not found " etc. So I plug in the drive now it wants to start all over. How do I make it start from where it left off. There are no transmission files on the ISB drive dir. that seem to hold the info and the transmission "queue" has reset as if I had not downloaded any data yet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't play some ..... videos since I guess I don't have "latest" flash player (I do have a flash lib in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins). I'm tired of this proprietary nonsense - is gnash or something else working with you tube and firefox ? or epithany ? how does gnash, whatever get plugged into Firefox so that clicking on a you tube video will bring it up ? Also if I have flash block installed will this interfere with gnash ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat follows is actually a copy of my yesterday post on users mailing list, which so far had no response at all. I hope I'll have more luck here.I have 3 PCs running Hardy, Karmic, and Fedora 12, with Firefox on each of them: v. 3.0.18 on Hardy and v. 3.5.8 on both Karmic and Fedora.I created "shared" profile on each system and synchronize them using Unison. Ubuntu 8.04 is a base system for synchronization.The synchronization itself works just fine on all 3 systems. No functionality problems on either of Ubuntu's.In Fedora however I'm having a problem. While using "shared" profile I can save neither a web page nor a download (unless I use some of add-on' as described below).
If either Save Page As... or Save Link As... menu items are selected the requests are simply ignored with no response from FF. However using Download Them All add-on does the job. Equally Scrapbook add-on allows me to save/capture pages.
The default profile works as expected. I thought SELinux is on the way but disabling it (for a test sake) did not changed things. All permissions in "shared" profile directory to me look OK.I'm new to Fedora and cannot figure it out myself, need you help, folks.

I know it is possible to boot Ubuntu Live from a Flash drive. But it just boots up and runs like its a CD. When you shut down the computer, the changes are all lost.
Is there any way to use the flash drive as a Hard Drive? like install Ubuntu on the flash drive and have the flash drive act as a hard drive - so that if I boot with the flash drive in the computer I can boot of of the flash drive and it would act as a hard drive?
Could I just setup Ubuntu and select the flash drive as the install directory? would that accomplish this?

I have problem with downloading files from web page of my school. When I click on download, it will ask for location to save and when I choose one (for example home or desktop), the page freezes, but firefox is still running, so I just have to close the tab. I tried it also with chromium with same result, but it produced some error log. I tried flash player 10.3 and 10.2 - same result. I also tried installing flash-player-gnome, but no luck. On linux mint 9 64-bit everything works perfectly.note: flash player can play movies (for example on .....). I can download files, that aren't downloaded with flash player.error log:

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy employer issues pdf files with everyones work schedules. I copy the content and save it as plain text in a file called unformatted (hope to be able to automate this step someday). Im working on a SED script that reduces unformatted to only display what I want to see and saves the result in a file Iïve named formatted. After that I have to manually copy formatted and save it with that days date as a filename e.g. 2011-02-25 or whatever day is scheduled in the pdf, for use on a mobile device (Nokia N900). I noticed that the date occurs on certain lines in the file so I added a line like:
sed -n 's/^Date: (201[1-9])/([0-1][0-9])/([0-3][0-9]).*/1-2-3/p' < unformatted >theDate
That creates a file theDate with the date in it that I wish to use as the filename for this particular instance. So I would like to skip the file formatted all together and have the sed- script write to a new file using the content of the Date as a filename, but how do I make that happen? And of course it would be more elegant if I could skip the intermediate theDate file as well.
