Fedora :: Fedora Recognize Pocket Projector As A Monitor?

Feb 10, 2010

I'm currently a windows xp user but am making the switch over to something open source. My friend said fedora is excellent and so I might give it a shot granted I can get my aaxa p2 pocket projector to work on it. I use my laptop for a LOAD of presentations so it is of the utmost important that my OS can sync my projector. here is what I need it to do:

in those pictures, it is simply acting as a USB drive where I can drag and drop images from my desktop on to the projector itself. This is what I need it to do on the fedora platform as well. I want to say it should work no problem but i am unsure. I know the easiest answer would be to stick to windows because it works, but i'm sick and tired of having to reformat my computer every year because it becomes so cluttered with windows attacking spy/malware and viruses.

I've even been thinking about moving over to a *gasp* mac for this issue, but I hear that macs don't sync up to the aaxa projector very well. there is info on the site but i can't find any support so someone with more experience might be able to find it. [URL]..

oh, and I ask if it would recognize as a monitor because if I can't just put files directly on, i suppose I can throw it VGA to VGA and dual monitor my presentations - this is worser case scenario.

Fedora :: WINE - Fail To Run Pocket Tanks 1.3

Aug 5, 2009

I just installed wine 1.1.2.3 and I tried to run pocket tanks 1.3, but it fails. I think it has to do with the offscreenrenderingmode and needs this [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareWineDirect3D] "OffscreenRenderingMode"="backbuffer" However, that winedirect3d does not exist. The only things that do are fonts, drivers and occasionaly X11 and temperorary system settings Where did it go? What, if anything, Should I do? I could be completely wrong. Anyone have pocket tanks running successfully?

Fedora :: Back To Nouveau Driver - Display On Projector?

Nov 12, 2010

Fedora 13, x86_64, up to date. Trying to get nVidia Quadro NVS 140M to display on a projector the same as it does on the laptop screen, which is 1680 x 1050. I failed to do so with the nVidia driver (latest version), so I want to go back to the nouveau driver and try with xrandr. I have always used the nouveau driver with Fedora without an issue, but in my former life in Ubuntu I sometimes switched back and forth between the "nv" driver and the nVidia driver.

Doing so was trivially easy - just edit xorg.conf replacing "nv" with "nvidia" or vice-versa, then restart X. However, after installing the nVidia driver via Yumex and using the nVidia config utility, I find that now I have an xorg.conf file that is loaded with stuff I don't understand, except that at the top it says it was created by nVidia, and there are two places where it says the driver is "nvidia." I have searched and all I can find is instructions for installing the nVidia driver.

Apparently that is meant to be a one-way ticket, because I can't find any instructions for how to return to the nouveau driver. Except stuff that is over a year old, and complaints from users whose systems failed to start X. What would happen if I just replace "nvidia" with "nouveau" in the xorg.conf file and restart X? I know if it won't start X I can boot to rescue mode and re-edit xorg.conf, but I'd rather ask first and do it the right way than have to repair a broken system.

Fedora :: External Monitor Won't Work - Both Monitor And Laptop Screen Black

I am having problems getting my external monitor to work. When I plug in the monitor, both the laptop screen and the external monitor go black. When I unplug the monitor, the laptop screen works again.
When I startup with the external monitor plugged in, neither screen works or teh computer hangs or something.

I have had the external monitor going on a couple of occasions. I did manage to configure my monitors through System Settings > Display. I turned off the laptop monitor as I just want to use the external. But after rebooting, things didn't work.

Fedora Hardware :: External Monitor Not Detected - Dell Laptop - Monitor

Aug 17, 2011

My software and hardware information are as follows. I have Fedora 12 and KDE 4.4.5 installed on a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. I believe it's a 64 bit processor; it's an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. The external monitor is a Dell as well.

My problem is that my system does not seem to be detecting an external monitor that I have connected. Everything else is working just fine; however, I would like to have the option of attaching an external monitor. When I plug the external monitor into the laptop, the external monitor remains black and appears to be in power save mode. The results of xrandr -q (with or without the external monitor attached: it doesn't appear to change) are as follows.

Code:

How can I get my laptop to recognize that the external monitor is even connected? Let me know if I can be more specific or provide additional details.

Ubuntu :: New VGA Cable Doesn't Recognize Monitor - Low Resolutions?

Jan 24, 2011

first time poster after having read gobs of threads trying to find the answer to my issue here. I'll try to post as much information as I can, and then will supply whatever else is inevitably left out and deemed necessary. I'm running 10.10 on a Gateway MX3701 laptop which has an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics controller (lspci | grep VGA) and am hooking it up to my Samsung P2770HD monitor/TV via VGA (VGA-0 port if that's important).

So, the issue: In resurrecting my old laptop by killing XP and putting on Ubuntu, I found I needed a VGA cable to connect to my monitor. Borrowed a friend's to get my setup going, and all was well in 1920x1080 with all the other monitor settings working well too (laptop monitor off, etc.. When my new VGA cable (cheap from Amazon) arrived and I shutdown, made new connection, and rebooted, my monitor was no longer recognized (it was before) and I am limited to weak sauce resolutions meant for my blinding grandmother.

So I've tried to find similar issues on here and have struggled to do so. I did find one thread that was similar, but the issue was never resolved.

Fedora X86/64bit :: F14 X86_64 Does Not Recognize 4GB Ram?

Feb 3, 2011

I am a total Noob, I couln't find the answer to my question anywhere. I need to run Matlab with 4GB of RAM and I have been told Fedora 64bits is the best environement for that. I downloaded the iso for the Fedora 14 x86_64. I first booted using the live CD and was surprised to see that only 3.4GB are recognized. The computer is a HP with dual core 64bits intel cpus and the motherboard is supposed to handle until 8GB of RAM, I have currently 2 x 2GB installed.

I thought it might have been a problem from the live CD and I proceeded to install, but still same problem, only 3.4GB recognized. Most threads I have found mention the PAE kernel but from what I understand this only applies to 32bits Fedoras ?

Fedora Installation :: F10 Does Not Recognize Second Hard Drive

Apr 1, 2009

There are 3 IDE drives in this box.
hda has Debian Lenny installed (with swap) and is to remain.
hdb1 has a linux distro on it.
hdb2 is a data partition and is to remain.
No other partitions on hdb.
HDD is data only (not really relevant but mentioned for completeness)
The system boots via Grub from MBR on hda.

I'm trying to install F10-i686-KDE-LiveCD on hdb1 but F10 won't allow it without modifying the partition tables which will, of course, wipe my data on hdb2. hdb seems to be a happy disk; e2fsck shows it clean and both partitions open properly in Konqueror within the LliveCD.

Fedora Installation :: F11 Grub Will Not Recognize Password

Sep 27, 2009

I have just installed Fedora 11 64bit on a new hard disk, using Intel 975BX2 motherbord, 3Gbyte RAM, 320Gbyte hard disk etc., USB mouse and keyboard. The installation went fine, but when I enter the password for the boot (I assume GRUB was installed) it fails to recognise the password. Do this three times and the boot segment ??? fails to initialise.

I recall a linux magazine i buy indicating that you have to copy and paste the password manually after installation, but i cannot recall the article date. Is this a problem - the password protection for the GRUB boot loader does not work at installation time when using the graphical interface ?. I did not use any odd characters - basic letters and numbers.
