View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get video calls to work using Empathy 2.30.0. I'm running the 10.04 beta right now, but I've had this problem ever since I installed Empathy. The problem is essentially that I don't even see the option to do a video call with my contact. I can do an audio call, but the option to do a video call is greyed out.
My webcam is built-in (the computer is a Dell Inspiron 1545n). I know that it _can_ work under Linux, as I regularly use Skype. Also, just after I upgraded to 10.04, I briefly had the "video call" option, but when the program crashed I tried to call, and then the option was gone again. What was strange is that for a little bit, before it crashed, my webcam was working, and I could see the image it was receiving. So it can't even be that Empathy just can't use my webcam.
Does anyone know anything about this problem? Everywhere I've looked says that Empathy should be able to make calls using GTalk.
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 in a HP Pavillion dv7t Laptop. The webcam in the laptop is working fine, but when I try to place a video call to gtalk from Empathy it gets disconnected immediately. The regular chat and the audio calls work fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a PS3 Eye, which seems to work out of the box on my Ubuntu 9.10 system (both Skype, and Cheese). When I have a pidgin chat window open for one of my contacts, in the media options (under Conversation) the audio, video, and audio/video option is ghosted out (non selectable).
I have the Video plugin checked (ticked), with the input video selected (the cam shows up in the list, and it's selected): for the Eye, I select for both the Audio and Video device. But when I close the plugin configuration window, it defaults back to "Default" which i'm guessing is part of the problem. The audio and video options in pidgin is relative to my system correct? So even if the other user doesn't have that capability, it'll still let me use audio/video for them?
Sugegstions for a good empathy protocal I have empathy installed on one of my Linux and a friend with the same setup. We would like to video/audio chat though empathy together. Although there are a few protocols to choose from. Are there any recommendation on one that is stable and reliable???
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend is using Karmic and we're trying to get video and audio to work in aMSN.
We confirmed farsight is installed:
Code:
libgstfarsight0.10-0:
Installed: 0.0.15-1ubuntu1
Candidate: 0.0.15-1ubuntu1
Version table:
[Code].....
That returned nothing. So, valve is not in the plugins that we have. Apparently, it is not in the farsight that we have either, if I've interpreted posts right.
And my issue is that I've never built from source or package or anything. sudo apt-get install and adding to the sources.list file is the experience I have. So, if I need to do source building, I'll need guidance.
I have the Debian 8.1 problem on the Intel Broadwell system , there are some issue which we have been found below.

I have ATI graphic card with HDMI video and Audio:
I see that I have HDMI connector and S/PDIF connector on the mortherboard, I just have HDMI connector on the monitor, I have no problem with the video but the audio does not work, I just want to confirm that the audio should also go throught the HDMI cable right ?
Here is the output from the alsa-info.sh script.

I installed Fedora 11. It 's working fine I have problem only for Skype. When I try to call some one, I got the error "Problem with audio playback". I have "skype-2.1.0.81-fc10.i586.rpm" on my machine.
I seem to have successfully logged into QQ via empathy but there is no video or sound. The help file is not clear because it suggests it is possible to have sound and video on both google talk and QQ, if I have the correct plugins. What should I do to enable sound and video in QQ and Talk?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI while back I tried installing Skype form the software centre but for some reason it wouldn't work. Now, with a fresh install of Lucid, I see that Empathy comes pre-installed and allows video chatting. Is it worth setting up a account? Does anyone have experience with Empathy?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do I turn off video chat support in empathy. I know that this was a long awaited feature, but frankly the gmail voice browser plugin works better. The issue is when I log into my gmail account in the browser and someone "video calls" me empathy intercepts the call and rings. I would prefer that it not do this, and let the browser catch the call. Now I have to shut empathy down or log out of gmail in it first.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis just started happening recently.. I have no problems with 1on1 skype calls but as soon as I try to bring in another party all of my skype audio just sounds like some really really bad video game from the 70's. Just beeps and borks. The other people on the call can hear each other just fine and dandy, but on my end I can't hear anything except for beep boop beep boop.
Using 10.04 btw
I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 on ASPIRE 5315 (intel celeron)Installed SKYPE BETA 2.1.0.8.1.I have external webcam which works with CHEESE ( I could see myself and takepictures). However when I open SKYPE onle telephone (voice) call are available. I Do not have the option for video calls. I do not have/see a tool bar or a side bar so I cannot make any change or test the video. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a video file in which the audio runs faster than the video, so they quickly go out of sync. The way to fix it would be to separate the audio and video streams, speed up the video (the audio is FINE, it's the video that's wrong), and then recombining them. What is the easiest way for doing that?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there any application I can use on a Mac and people can use on their iPhones 4 to do video calls?
If beyond Mac OS X apps you can also mention Ubuntu Linux and WIndows apps that can do that too.
As far as I checked, skype is not an option.
Is there an application that anyone knows about that I can use to convert either an .flv or .ogg file that contains both audio and video to just an audio .ogg file (preferably vorbis+theora) without audacity? I'm fairly certain audacity could accomplish this but it seems like overkill for what I'm trying to do and the computer I'm trying to use does not run it so well.
::EDIT:: I should also mention that I've tried looking on google. I did find downloadhelper extension for firefox which uses ffmpeg to convert the files but I don't see any obvious way to strip the video.
Ever sense i updated to 10.4 skype's video calling for me has turned a light shade of blue, nothing that really tampers with my call, just annoying the snot out of me because the person im talking to is blue.
Also I do not think its my cameras drivers because not only am I a shade of blue, but the person I am talking to is also blue and they say that I on their screen look fine. When i run a camera test with skype everything is a shade of blue as well.
I cannot for the life of me find a way to test my camera outside of skype.
After installing all possible backend needed to create accounts, I was able to create my yahoo account, but when I try video calling my friend how uses m$n on xp, I get the message "connecting....." but on my friend's pc It doesn't show that I'm calling him. Can I have video calls with contacts using another IM software using my yahoo account?

Hello, when I log into Aim using pidgin I get this error
"Received unexpected response from http://api.oscar.aol.com/aim/startOSCARSession"
I tried using a MSN account to test it out and it works. So AIM does not work. The port is on 5190 so I dont understand what is wrong.
I am looking for a way to make a video call from windows to linux. I do prefer over MSN or skype protocol so it would mean less trouble starting new accounts for all sides.
Now here are my problems: pidgin doesn't support video calls on msn protocol and skype doesn't support video calls over GPRS.
I like the simple looking interface on pidgin and I have a sierra wireless 880E pcmcia 3G modem. the windows side is using the WLM so no problems there.
