Jun 24, 2011I have upgraded from Fedora 14 to Fedora 15. Fedora 15 looks very good. Now my 'Bluetooth', 'Wlan' and 'WiMAX' are not working.

Apr 16, 2011Imagine this scenario at my home: I'm working on my laptop using WLAN receiver as I have a router installed at my home. Suddenly the electricity fails (it's a regular incident here in Bangladesh called Load-shedding) and the power source to modem and router dies.As a result, my internet connection drops. To connect to the internet without power, I use this QUBEE UH-235 WiMAX USB Modem. Now I know QUBEE may not be there in your country. But after a bit of research I figured that this UH-235 modem is commont every country. QUBEE just branded its logo on the device and the software within.This one is not my device, mine is here.
In my windows, the software is installed as soon as I plug in the USB. That software then detects the modem, scans for network, and then connects to the internet. No extra CD is required for this. However, on an Ubuntu machine, I can't get it working. I guess there are ways to get this UH-235 modem working on my Ubuntu machine. This is keeping me from using Ubuntu as you know I'll have to restart and log in to WIndows whenever electricity is off as Ubuntu works with Wi-Fi, not this UH-235 modem when the Wi-Fi is out of power

Dec 14, 2010I'm dual booting windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.1 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 11z with an embedded WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 series wireless card made from Intel. I only use it for wifi, not 3g or wimax. I installed the latest driver from intellinuxwireless.org, iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1, but it still doesn't seem to work. I ran these terminal commands from another thread:
cd Desktop/wlwifi-6050-ucode-9.201.4.1
sudo cp iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode /lib/firmware
sudo chmod 644 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi*

After running "sudo rmmod -f iwlagn sudo modprobe iwlagn", I get this read out for my wireless card.

In the ubuntu help section it tells me to flip a manual wifi switch to enable it, but pressing my windows wifi button, F2, doesn't appear to do anything while in ubuntu. The only experience I have working with linux is typing some terminal commands on my android phone to root it.

May 2, 2011Installed F14 on my daughters HP Pavilion a131On. I rebooted multiple times. Do I need to activate something? I'm new to all of this but read through many threads to do as much as I could myself. I used the GUI to load the rt3070 drivers rather than rpm. The GUI is easier I think and should be equivalent. Please let me know what else I need to do. Fedora has been great on my Lenovo but this usb wlan stuff has been a pain.

Fedora Networking :: WLAN Not Working After Upgrade
Jun 24, 2011I'm running Fedora 15 KDE on a Sony Vaio VPCS13V9E. No problems in connecting to the wlan. Today I upgraded the system. There was an upgrade for Network Manager. After the upgrade the system is not able to connect to the modem - router (Linksys WAG320N) any more. Network manager keeps on crashing and sends messages like "network disabled" or "connection failed". Kde demon is reporting errors too. I guess the new version of Network Manager is bugged, because before the upgrade it did work well ... (unbelievable!).

Mar 26, 2011I've reinstalled Slackware 4 times today because of things I've messed up along my way, after upgrading the linux kernel I've had issues with getting back to desktop, so I'm on a clean slate right now with the exception of installing wicd. I need help since wireless is not working.. My wireless worked fine out of the box with Ubuntu,I don't understand why it is not working now... Using Slackware 13.1, Kernel 2.6.33.4

Fedora Networking :: WLAN Controller Has Stopped Working
Aug 1, 2009I have a Dell XPS M1330. I installed Fedora 10 on a separate partition and left Vista on the first. It was working just fine and for some reason all of the sudden it is not recognizing the Wireless controller. Vista is still working fine although I did get a couple of "WLAN controller has stopped working" errors. I suspect I may have a physical problem with the controller but I'm confused as to why Vista is still using it but Linux is not. The actual physicall "WIFI" light on the laptop does not even illuminate when I boot Linux. No wireless networks appear in the network list under Linux. Particularly since it WAS working fine for months...

Aug 7, 2011My PC has a broadcom wlan adapter. When I clean installed Fedora 15 about two weeks back, the wifi wasn't working on its own. I searched the internet and found out that installing broadcom-wl and akmod-wl would solve the problem. I tried it, and the wifi started working after that.
Wifi not working means there is no wireless option in the network settings and the wifi indicator light is off.. when wifi started working both of these got fixed
Now i did a yum update yesterday, after which my wifi has stopped working again. No use of reinstalling broadcom-wl, akmod-wl, or even kmod-wl...

Feb 9, 2009I have an HP Pavilion notebook with a Broadcom WLANcard that had been working very nicely in Fedora Core 10 until this evening, when I took my notebook to a conference room where there was no internet access. (I tried to connect to wireless networks, but there were none in the area, as I discovered.) am now unable to connect to my local (home) wireless network as the device is now non-existent . Can someone please walk me through the steps to fix this or re-install it (I have tried reinstalling broadcom-wl, but that didn't help). My lspci listing is reproduced below:

I have tried looking for something in the output of lsusb, lshal, and lspci. No dice there. The Bluetooth application (bluetooth-properties) doesn't see an adapter present. And there is nothing in dmesg either. The device worked under Ubuntu 9.10 and of course the preload of Vista that came on the machine when I got it from the store.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wlan Has Stopped Working?
Jun 30, 2010I have a Thinkpad T400 notebook that dual boots windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.04. My wireless has worked both in windows and ubuntu for the past several months. However 2 days ago, the wireless in ubuntu stopped working. I think this may be a result of trying to set up a static eth0 connection between my laptop and an embedded board, but I dont see how messing with eth0 would stop the wlan from working.
Symptoms: When I left click on the network connections icon in the tray, all it lists under "Wireless networks" is "device not ready". Needless to say, there are no networks available to connect to. Also the wireless is working fine under windows.

Dec 25, 2010I'm a new user of Ubuntu and I think I need some help but let me mention before that I got this up working on a Debian system.My current kernel version is $ uname -r 2.6.32-27-generic.The problem is that my wlan card is not working any more such that my system freezes every time I enable networking with the hardware switch on my laptop.Therefore I bought a USB - WLAN stick and try to get this working.
Network Manager has the option "enable wireless" greyed out if I disable the hardware switch.If I enable the hardware switch and remove the module of my wlan CARD before (modprobe -r iwl3945) it says "wireless disconnected" for all networks.

Jan 23, 2010recently ran into a problem with my internet access. Im using open suse 11.2 on a Dell Vostro 1520 laptop. I managed to get my wlan running and i can use firefox to access my router. In my router the laptop is also showing as connnected, dhcp reserved an ip for it.However if i try to browse the internet, no page is loading, actually no software that needs access to the web is working.

I installed just about all the samba packages in synaptic that have the little ubuntu symbol next to them on both desktop and laptop except the Kde and document packages. I installed the two necessary packages to enable personal file sharing to work. But I can't seem to access files back and forth from these computers.

Nov 27, 2009There is no wlan0 interface when trying to run FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N 2.4 on OpenSuSE 11.2, though it works fine on Fedora 11 and Mandriva Spring 2009.1. All 64bit. Contrary to Fedora and Mandriva, there is no need to compile the compat-wireless module ar9170usb for OpenSuSE 11.2 because the kernel is very recent and includes this driver. Kernel: 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop The /var/log/messages gives this after I put the stick in the PC. At first it is seen as a mass storage device:

Debian Hardware :: B43 Wlan Not Working With Lenny (squeeze-kernel 2.6.32)
May 18, 2010i'm trying to get my WLan working, i do have a Broadcom BCM4312 lpphy WLan-Adapter (pci-id according to lspci -vnn is 14e4:4315) in my Lenove ideapad S12. My System is Debian Lenny, but in order for the WLan-Adapter to work I installed the 2.6.32-3-686 Kernel from debian squeeze (using apt-pinning). I than installed the b43-firmware as described in the debian wiki [URL]. I updated the init-ramfs, everything is working as expected, except for WLan.
It shows up using iwconfig, i can get it up and down using ifconfig (or ifup, ifdown). I can't do a scan using iwlist - it says: % iwlist wlan0 scan > Failed to read scan data : Resource temporarily unavailable
It always fails, but not with the same error message. Sometimes it also comes up with > device or resource busy
Using dmesg I see reports about a fatal DMA error, resulting in a controller RESET. It says it's loading firmware 478.104 .
