May 28, 2011Package gnome-bluetooth-2.28.6-2.fc12.i686 already installed and latest version so that's done.I'm certain I have a bluetooth adapter inside my laptop, however when I go to System > Preferences > Bluetooth, the started program says there are no bleutooth devices.There is a hardware button with the bluetooth symbol.

Ubuntu :: Wireless Not Working On Acer Aspire One
May 17, 2010in compliance with bonekracker's advice, i have reposted my SOS. i have the result of the outputs of the commands for ifconfig, iwconfig, and etc i have uploaded it in the file output.doc. i hope this would be helpful in debugging my problem.but before that, i do notice that if i click on the icon for the Network Manager, the Wireless networks is set to 'wireless disabled'. maybe if i can make it turn on, my wireless problem will be solved.. its just that i even if i move the switch for the wifi, it still wouldn't turn on.

Dec 26, 2010I just got new netbook for christmas and so I promptly set it up with a dual boot system cause Windows 7 starter is garbage.Anyways after ditching the Netbook Remix because quite frankly I found the Unity setup to be quite garbage. Nothing worked the way I wanted it to and I found it quite annoying.So I ditched it for the regular desktop version. I quickly found that the battery indicator didn't work.
I removed and re added the indicator panel. Nothing. killed the gnome panel and restarted it multiple times. still nothing. Restarted multiple times. nothing. I even reinstalled gnome-power-management to no avail. I also installed laptop-mode-tools and nothing has worked. I went into the power settings and set it to always display the icon and it simply showed a lightning bolt as if there was no battery and it was a tower computer.
Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Still Not Working On 11.04 & Acer Aspire One?
Apr 29, 2011This bug has been around for years now?!? Surely this can be fixed by now, would somebody please feel this very common issue. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Acer Aspire One 110AB netbook and everything seems to work fine except the wireless - I can connect via ethernet no problem.
While the wireless can scan for networks - it seems them but they seem to be rather weak signals and also no matter never connect UNLESS I turn off ALL WEP/WPA security clearly not an option.
Debian Hardware :: Acer Aspire One - Synaptics Touchpad Not Working At All?
Apr 1, 2011I tried to create an xorg.conf because I didn't have one already. I put the configuration for the synaptics touchpad in it and in the gnome preferences/mouse my touchpad actually was recognized by its name. But still it didn't work :/ I tried deleting my xorg.conf and making a xorg.conf.d directory with synaptics.conf because I saw someone recommend it in another thread. But now the gnome/mouse settings doesn't see it and it still doesn't work. I've read several threads from Arch Linux's forums saying it may be that the module is loaded twice, but I really have no idea.

Mar 22, 2010I had UBR installed and working fine for a month or so, wireless and everything. Then I did a clean re-install while trying to add WinXP to half of my drive.Anyway, with the new install, my wireless chip (BCM4312 802.11b/g) isn't switching on at all. I've tried installing the Broadcom driver that appears when I run Hardware Drivers, but that doesn't help.With the old install, the wireless switch and indicator light on the front of the netbook worked, now nothing.

Sep 5, 2010i recently installed ubuntu on my netbook, an acer aspireone. got everything running properly. at first i had a problem with using webcam online for sites using flash 10 (facebook, videos, tinychat), but someone directed me to the adobe control panel and after setting some permissions, everything was working fine. yesterday, i installed a bunch of updates, and since then the built-in microphone stopped working in chat.
the microphone still works if i record audio or use it in other applications. but for all of the sites using flash for video chat (listed above) i can only get the camera working, not the mic. i don't get any error messages or anything different from before. the only difference is that no sound is coming through. i wish i knew which updates i've installed yesterday. one of them must have caused the problem, since it was working fine before then.

Apr 24, 2011My sd slot is not working at all, doesn't recognize it. I think it may have something to do with having the desktop version installed but I could be wrong. I was only introduced to linux 4 weeks ago and am not very familiar with it, but already know I like it more than windows! I have tried three different sd cards and they all work in my other laptop with Windows 7.

Jan 9, 2010I am trying to install Fedora 12 on an Acer Aspire AMD 64 2 with 1 GB of memory.
I downloaded the Fedora 12 live CD Fedora-12-X86_64-ISO.
When I try to boot from that CD, I get a message "irq 17 too bust" and the system hangs before finishing the boot process. So I have very little to go on.
Ps. I previously installed Kubuntu 9.1 without any problems.

May 30, 2011When rebooting a fresh Fedora 15 install or even after the end stage of the actual installation itself, my Acer Aspire One (AOA110) with 16GB SSD and 3309 BIOS just stalls.
I have tried installing to the SSD and also to an external USB connected HDD.
In all cases the actual reboot process stalls when shutting down and I have to power cycle the netbook to reboot it. The boot process works perfectly and F15 starts up fine.
If I use a "poweroff" command instead of a "reboot" command, the netbook powers off correctly. It's just the reboot that doesn't work. All updates have been applied to F15.
I should mention that it works correctly under F14...

Sep 13, 2010after messing with fstab + mtab, my aspire one netbook completely failed , so i rebooted using a live USB. My desktop and default settings were restored. When i tried to install firefox 3 (default browser is firefox 2 ), yum hangs and refuses to do anything. I tried deleting and reinstalling yum, and it was mostly successful until i tried the "make" command which according to bash does not exist. how to install make without using yum?

Jan 1, 2009I have an Acer Aspire One running Fedora 10.The Aspire One has a built in multi-format memory card reader compatible with SDHC, XD, Memory Stick Pro and MMC cards, however the card reader is only detected during bootup if a card is inserted otherwise the device isn't detected, the relevant drivers aren't loaded and the card reader doesn't work.
In other words if Fedora is booted without a card in the reader and I then want to use the card reader I have to insert a card and reboot in order to use it, after which cards can be inserted & removed and are detected and automounted with no problems.When the card reader is working lsmod shows the following modules are loaded.

If the laptop is booted without a card in the reader none this shows up. I've also tried manually loading the mmc_core, mmc_block, sdhci, memstick & jmb38x_ms modules to see if this kicks the reader into life but it doesn't. Is there a way of forcing the detection of this device during bootup?

May 7, 2009Have a dedicated Fedora 10 laptop so that I can learn everything I need to know. I am using an Acer Aspire 3000 with a fresh copy of Fedora 10 and KDE
The Aspire 3000 has a built in broadcom wireless card, with windows XP you activate the wireless using an LED button on the front of the laptop, but with Fedora I can't seem to do this.
I have found a couple of threads to fix this error on Ubuntu but nothing about fedora. I don't want to change OS as I have just about got this system running like clockwork. I have left the wireless until last as the normal LAN works fine.

Apr 8, 2010I have an Acer Aspire 1410 laptop which was running Win7. The laptop lacks a DVD drive and came pre-installed with a recovery partition as well.I've been searching for ways to dual-boot Fedora on it. I bought a Samsung USB DVD drive, but I burned two copies of Fedora 12 and neither would boot, nor would my Knoppix Live CD. I even updated the bios. Then I tried liveusb-creator from my desktop Fedora 10 system, but I would still run into strange errors that prevented booting into the installer.
Finally I downloaded UNetbootin and created a USB stick to boot Fedora 12. Neither Fedora 12 nor Ubuntu would recognize my network adaptor for some reason. Undaunted, I then used UNetbootin to create a Fedora 11 image which got me into the boot installer for the first time. I then used my Fedora 12 image from my portable DVD drive to install. The install seemed to go well.
That is, until I rebooted. Grub came up as expected. Fedora 12 runs into a very early Kernel panic (not syncing: DMAR hardware is malfunctioning) within moments. I tried rebooting into Windows, but it apparently doesn't care much for Grub. It sends me into the Recovery software and asks me to reset my hard drive. I've tried that a couple of times now and it's useless. Is the problem with Grub? I thought it would play nicely with Win7 and at least allow me to boot into it, which is why I allowed it to overwrite my MBR. I lack a Win7 disc and cannot repair the MBR that way.

Mar 6, 2009I wonder if you can help me please. I purchased an Acer Aspire One netbook running Linpus Linux on it for my daughter. She absolutely love it and so far I have managed to update Open Office to Open Office 3.0.1, installed Skype and installed Firefox 3.She has been doing her homework and would like to print it off but I can't get my Epson DX8450 to work with it. I tried installing drivers from http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do (which is where Epson tell you to go). I installed some drivers and the printer started to print it was doing some strange things like printer two lines of the same single line, missing the top off the letters and putting two line spaces in between each line.
I am all new to this but does anybody advice or even provide step by step instructions on how to install the printer (if they have this model printer themselves).Also how to I remove the drivers that I installed last night that obviously are incompatible?

Mar 28, 2010I just installed Fedora 12 x86 in an Acer Aspire One D250. Everything ran smoothly and was detected upon install but unfortunately after all updates were applied to it I ended with a device with no network connection (not even Ethernet).
This appears to be kernel-related because the old kernel (stock) works as expected. The problematic kernel version is (2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686).
Is there any known workaround for this? Or am I condemned to run this older kernel until the other one gets fixed?
Another question, in the event a new kernel comes out I'd like to keep to older one as a back up, how can I arrange that?
Fedora Installation :: F13 Unable To Boot Install DVD On Acer Aspire 5738Z
Jul 23, 2010I have F11 running on my Acer laptop and I'd like to install F13 on a newly created partition.I have downloaded the DVD install a couple of days ago and tried to boot it using different options, but always failed. Below my attempts:
1) first option (Install or upgrade): it took a looooong time (like 4 or 5 hours) to get to the Loading vmlinuz message; after a couple more hours it was still there (with 4 or 5 dots more) and I decided that enough was enough;
2) second option (basic video driver): I tried it with and without the nomodeset option and in both cases the Loading vmlinuz message was immediate, but couldn't get past it;
3) first option (Install or upgrade) with the nomodeset option: again the Loading vmlinuz message was immediate, it added up to 10 or 11 dots and then hung;
4) I also tried to boot the same DVD on another laptop (just to rule out media problems) and quickly reached the first install screen, so the DVD is ok I think.
Note that in ALL the above described attempts, when the boot process hang I see my HD led constantly on and also the DVD led flashing.

1) Pymouth doesn't work when booting. I have to use the parameter "nodeset". Desktop effects are working. I have installed Mesa based DRI drivers (experimental).
2) I have to manually "enable wireles" to acess the wlan. It should connect automatically.
3) the laptop doesn't wake up from suspend/hibernate. I have to use brute force to restart. pm-suspend.log
