Ubuntu Multimedia :: How To Make Audacious Default Audio Player
Mar 2, 2011I really like using Audacious, but Rhythmbox (which isn't as horrible as iTunes, admittedly, but I still don't think much of that style of player) is set up as the default audio player on my laptop. I'm running Lucid Lynx on it. When I go to System > Preferences > Preferred Applications, Audacious doesn't come up in the drop-down menu under the Multimedia tab. Anyone know of any way I can change this from Rhythmbox to Audacious?

Dec 24, 2009If I install flash player from yast or from "firefox plugins search", I only install version 10.0.*.*. Now I want to install version 10.1 beta. I downloaded package "flasplayer..." from adobe flash website. Then I extract it and run:

into /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Afterward, I restart firefox and firefox requires install flashplayer . In some tutorials I see " Create symlink plugins to..." after "Install plugin ./libflashplayer.so...". In my computer I can't see this. I use opensuse 11.2 64bit. I try to install flash player 10.1 beta because I can't upload to mediafire Site. How to install 10.1 beta to solve this problem.
Ubuntu :: Banshee 1.6 Beta 4 On 9.10 - Not Recognizing MP3 Player (iPod Or Sanza)
Feb 6, 2010Had issues when 9.10 first came out with Banshee not recognizing my MP3 Player (iPod or Sanza). So, I went back to 9.04 as my music is very important. I decided to upgrade recently again to 9.10 and still having issues. Two things:
1. If I start Banshee and then attach my Sanza player, it pretty much kills Banshee. Screen goes dark and I have to kill it. It seems as if I connect my player first, then start Banshee, it picks it up and all looks good. Easy enough to do it this way, but just curious on it.
2. The Banshee is an 8GB and also has an 8GB SD card. In 9.04, this would show up in Banshee as two devices when connected so that I could copy music to/from either the native drive or the SD Card. Now, even when it connects as noted in #1, I only see the native 8GB on the Sanza... there is no SD Card listed, no ability to get to it, and neither of them show up on my desktop (in 9.04, they both showed up on desktop and in Banshee).
I am totally open to getting off the iPod... went out and bought the Sanza (which I love) specifically because of Ubuntu, open formats (ogg), etc. But, haven't been able to use it fully as I would like.
Fedora :: Updating Audacious Decoder
Jan 22, 2011Ok so I have some music that I have burned from cds, within windows, I have them in a wma format. The video player, handles those songs just fine. However I really enjoy using the Audacious player. Whenever I try to run in Audacious,Is there a way to update the decoders for audacious specifically, either through the repo or CLI?

This time, karma automatism is enabled, so the update will hit the stable updates repo after either +3 votes or after 7 days. Regardless of whether the -freeworld packages are available. Those are being worked on as well, but since RPM Fusion doesn't build their packages against Test Updates, it seems they don't spend the extra effort on pulling the Test Updates into their buildroot and instead wait till those get marked stable.
Ubuntu :: No Sound In Skype Beta - Use Beta On Acer Aspire One With 10.10
Nov 27, 2010I am trying to use Skype beta on my acer aspire one with ubuntu 10.10. The video runs brilliantly and i can also here my wife from the other end but she cannot hear me. Apparently something is fishy with my mic input. I tried alsamixer and everything is in unmute. My alsa version is 1.0.23. The only think she hears is a loud hissing noise which is normally my bat voice but she doesnt need to know that. I can record my voice in the sound recorder but nothing comes out in Skype!

Jul 20, 2010-xmms does support the "Expensive Hi Fi", wich as i told i've allreday installed and works.
-Xmms doesn't support the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin" for that skin, wich i don't know were to download(i only am able to see the images of it at [url]?content=49220"-3rd picture bellow, left side-the "Sony Vu's").
-The http page refers the skins and the plugin to KDE graphic environment, i'm using GNOME, and i'm not shure that this may make any difference.
-After the exausting net reading, i think...?, that Audacious does support the "Expensive Hi Fi" and the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin".
As i told, i don't give up that easy, and Audacious seems to be some upgrade or evolution of Xmms, and it as that "retro classic" look that i like and can be personalized like Xmms.
So, i've allready installed Audacios, with all the necessary codecs and libraries, and it's working so well as Xmms worked.
But know i'm having another problem :
-To personalize skins in Audacious(...more exausting net reading...), the operation should be so easy as:
-For any skin that we want(*.wal;*.wsz or compressed one's...), download it and copy it into:/users/share/audacious/Skins, wich i've allready tried(such as skins pasted into .xmms), but i get this error message:"Permission denied"!

Fedora :: Audacious: No Decoder Found For File?
Jul 2, 2011I am using Fedora 15. When I try to play an mp3 file (that's all I have) on Audacious, I get the error "No decoder found for file:///<some_song>.mp3". Edit: I think I should mention that I have enabled the testing repository, and there was an update on June 30.
However, it plays on Rhythmbox.

Fedora :: Audacious Updated - No Decoder Found For MP3 File
Jan 30, 2011I just updated Audacious to 2.4.3, and now when I try to play mp3's, I get this: No decoder found for file "my song." Ogg files still play fine though. I know I can downgrade, but I'd rather this just be fixed.

Aug 3, 2011I have installed Audacious and audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3 on F15. MP3 support now works (i.e.: mp3 files are being played) but audacious does not show me the scroll bar/widget with which I can move within a track. The horizontal line of said widget is being displayed but it's not showing the button which marks the offset within a track and clicking on the horizontal line has no effect.

April 29th, 2010 - Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?

Jan 31, 2009Originally I had Ubuntu running on my machine. I installed windows beta 7 with a working dual boot. Get everything working in grub again. I decided to give Fedora a try and wiped my Ubuntu partition and installed Fedora. Everythings all good...except the reconfiguration of grub has left out my Windows 7 partition (nothing out of the norm) I tried manually adding windows 7 to /boot/grub/menu.lst but it's not working, when I try to boot into Windows 7 i get a little flashing "_" for a really long time and nothing happens.

Fedora Installation :: F12 Beta Not Detecting Second Hard Drive?
Nov 17, 2009I have purchased HP Pavilion e9280jp/CT which has two 1.5TB (SATA 7200rpm) hard drives. But during installation Fedora 11 and 12 (beta) did not detect my second hard drive. It only showed one hard drive in the list. I used the Fedora Live CD and still it only showed one hard disk.
Then , I partitions my first hard disk as follows:
[1TB - Windows (Primary) ][ 100Gb - Linux partion ][ Factory recovery Image] and installed Fedora 12 , and now giving me Grub errors. How can I force Fedora installer to detect my second hard disk?
