Ok so I have some music that I have burned from cds, within windows, I have them in a wma format. The video player, handles those songs just fine. However I really enjoy using the Audacious player. Whenever I try to run in Audacious,Is there a way to update the decoders for audacious specifically, either through the repo or CLI?
View 14 RepliesI am using Fedora 15. When I try to play an mp3 file (that's all I have) on Audacious, I get the error "No decoder found for file:///<some_song>.mp3". Edit: I think I should mention that I have enabled the testing repository, and there was an update on June 30.
However, it plays on Rhythmbox.

I just updated Audacious to 2.4.3, and now when I try to play mp3's, I get this: No decoder found for file "my song." Ogg files still play fine though. I know I can downgrade, but I'd rather this just be fixed.

I performed the following commands to build them:

I rebooted and now my current window/icon theme is missing and gives the following error:
This theme will not look as intended because the required GTK+ theme 'eco' is not installed". If I look at synaptic, it shows it as being installed (see screenshot). How do I go about rolling back the library updates I made? I tried reinstalling the themes from synaptic but so far no luck.
I just wanted to post this really quick. I just installed Fedora 12 and I have been playing around with it a bit. (it's my first taste of Linux) I noticed right off the bat that I needed an MP3 decoder and was having a hard time finding one. Then I found a free Legal mp3 decoder at the following address.They also offer a Fedora specific installer (.rpm) So if anybody needs a decoder, here is a good one.Since it's a free decoder I was wondering if it might be included in future Fedora releases?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get the MPEG decoder plug in so i can listen to my tunes that I have in itunes on my windows os. When I go search to find the plug in it searches for it but then says "Could not find plugin in any configured software source" Please help because I would enjoy fedora a lot better if i could listen to my music. I use to have Kubuntu, but I switched to fedora because Kubuntu was having the same problem. Once again please help, and remember I'm new.

This time, karma automatism is enabled, so the update will hit the stable updates repo after either +3 votes or after 7 days. Regardless of whether the -freeworld packages are available. Those are being worked on as well, but since RPM Fusion doesn't build their packages against Test Updates, it seems they don't spend the extra effort on pulling the Test Updates into their buildroot and instead wait till those get marked stable.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm using Fedora 14 with wine installed and using that to run Spotify but I'm getting the error message-
'There is a problem with the sound decoder. Spotify can't play music'
I have done a search and installed the alsa bit of wine and changed the settings but I still get the above message.
My questions are- what does this mean and do I need to install something else. I have all the codes for mp3 etc.
-xmms does support the "Expensive Hi Fi", wich as i told i've allreday installed and works.
-Xmms doesn't support the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin" for that skin, wich i don't know were to download(i only am able to see the images of it at [url]?content=49220"-3rd picture bellow, left side-the "Sony Vu's").
-The http page refers the skins and the plugin to KDE graphic environment, i'm using GNOME, and i'm not shure that this may make any difference.
-After the exausting net reading, i think...?, that Audacious does support the "Expensive Hi Fi" and the "Analog Vu Meter Plugin".
As i told, i don't give up that easy, and Audacious seems to be some upgrade or evolution of Xmms, and it as that "retro classic" look that i like and can be personalized like Xmms.
So, i've allready installed Audacios, with all the necessary codecs and libraries, and it's working so well as Xmms worked.
But know i'm having another problem :
-To personalize skins in Audacious(...more exausting net reading...), the operation should be so easy as:
-For any skin that we want(*.wal;*.wsz or compressed one's...), download it and copy it into:/users/share/audacious/Skins, wich i've allready tried(such as skins pasted into .xmms), but i get this error message:"Permission denied"!
Whereas former 2.4.0 can. I just find that audacious says it cannot decode *.ape after upgrade from repository. Here are what I installed relates to audacious and its plug-ins,

I have installed Audacious and audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3 on F15. MP3 support now works (i.e.: mp3 files are being played) but audacious does not show me the scroll bar/widget with which I can move within a track. The horizontal line of said widget is being displayed but it's not showing the button which marks the offset within a track and clicking on the horizontal line has no effect.

<Name of current song> requires an Additional plugin. The following plugin is required: Windows Media Audio Decoder. Do you want to search for this now ?
If I press the search button I get a response saying that the package was not found. Then I press the close button, only to see the same dialog popping up again. The funny thing is that all this is happening while the current songs is not in WMA format and it is actually playing

View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, so far nothing seems to have worked. I have OpenSuSE 11.0 and due to a failed mother board and hard drive had to reinstall it. Since the reinstall I have not been able to play .wmv files. I can play the same file just fine on my laptop but not on my desktop.I have win32codecs installed as well as libdvdcss and several other packages and still I cannot play these files with the following:
Kaffeine
Mplayer
VLC Player
I have searched and everything points to win32codecs (which are installed and the same version as I have on my laptop). I have tried deleting all the video player files including win32codecs, libdvdcss and their config files then reinstalling and that doesn't seem to have worked at all either. So I don't know what else to do.
I have a Debian mail server running Postfix, Amavisd-new, Clamav, & Spamassassin. I noticed when I started all the daemons, the mail.log file had some missing decoders which I assume Clamav can't scrub.Was there a missing package for resolving what's causing this notifications in the logs?

When this is run on a windows machine and when the executable is run it opens in something like a flash video. I would like to know if it is possible to run this on Linux because everytime I try to run it I get a missing codec message:

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to update from Fedora 10 to a newer version, when I try the auto update thing that pops up occasionally it says newer version available and lists Fedora 11, when I click on the preinstall which I thought was some info on it iyt starts trying to update to Fedora 12. I posted about this earlier (I can not even find the thread any more) and an administrator pointed me to a wiki which stated there is no way to get from 10 to 12. My question is how do I even get to 11, when I tried the preinstall the trouble I ran into was no space in /boot. I tried to remove other installs and when I went to the preinstall again it froze and I waited an hour then switched off the machine. Upon rebooting I got a message missing file and could not boot at all so i reinstalled Fedora 10. Now I am stuck as I tried a yum install as another suggested and could not get repository, and I had a working internet connection. I also seen in your list of laptops that work my laptop works but has some problems with internet. I can not use wireless, in reality I occasionally can use wireless, what I can always use is my sprint cdma broadband card, will I lose this if I try to upgrade, would I be best to try and burn an iso image and if so is there any way to figure out if it has cdma support?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the Fluendo decoder following the tutorial linked to from here (but just downloaded the RPM so I wouldn't have to unpack anything). Now "fluendo-codecs-mp3" is showing up in my software manager as having been installed, but I still can't play MP3 files in either Amarok or Kaffeine. One thing I've noticed is that, in the software manager, under "Installed (Availabled)" it says "11-3" in red.This was such a simple thing to fix in Ubuntu, I'm baffled by how much trouble I'm having right now. Please help me so that I can justify the eight hours I spent downloading openSUSE. I love the interface and would hate to go back to Ubuntu's oranges and browns (and Gnome).

is it something I'm missing in the repository?
